* On April 18, 1989, thousands of Chinese students continue to take to the streets in Beijing to protest government policies and issue a call for greater democracy, resulting in the Tiananmen Square Massacre and thousands of protestors dead. Fear that a severe U.S. reaction to the massacre might result in a diplomatic rupture limited the official U.S. response.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

“When writing the story of your life, don’t let anyone else hold the pen.” -- Harley Davidson

NOW HERE’S A TIP By JoAnn Derson * “If you have dogs, keep a towel near your door. Then you can wipe off muddy paws before they have a chance to get the carpets dirty!” -- T.Y. in Mississippi * If you’re reattaching a button to shorts or pants, try using dental floss, the unwaxed kind. It’s much stronger, and can hold the button better than regular thread. Use a marker to darken it if the color is an issue. * Here’s a great way to get a longer life from a bar of soap: Press the plastic top of a pop bottle into one side of a wet bar of soap. When you set the bar down in your soap dish, put it plastic side down. This way, the bar doesn’t sit in any residual water and turn into a goopy mush. The plastic top comes out easily if you need to remove it.” -- Y.P. in Illinois * Store brooms either handle down or on a hook that allows the bristles to suspend over the floor. When brooms rest their bristles on the floor, it bends them and breaks the ends. Broken ends make it hard for the broom to work efficiently. * “After a recent bathroom redecoration, we had a toilet paper holder left over. I mounted it on the wall in my shop, and I use it to dispense twine. It’s actually working well and is the perfect size, since it’s not really wide enough for more than one duct tape roll.” -- A.L. in Texas GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

S E V RA Lima Food Pantry A very big thank you to all who have donated to the Lima Food Pantry over the past year. Thanks to your generosity, we were here to help those in need throughout a very difficult time. Thanks, Wyoming County! Thank you to the Wyoming County Health Department for the excellent vaccination clinic April 7 & 8. It was well organized; medical staff was professional, informative, friendly, and the shot was painless. Not even feeling a prick from the needle. There is no reason that makes sense to not get vaccinated. If we want things to get back to normal, this is one way to ensure that normal life resumes sooner than later. Get vaccinated and get rid of the masks! Amazing school district! Honeoye Central School is doing an amazing job keeping our kids safe! As a parent, I feel completely safe sending my child to school knowing the rooms are clean, social distancing takes place and the teachers are empathetic and compassionate toward our kids! Way to go, Honeoye!

Unruly fans Interesting study on the number of fans that show up under the influence of both alcohol and pot to the Buffalo Bills games. Bills fans are in the top 13% of all teams in the NFL. Being at a live Bills game can be fun, but every time I’ve gone, I’ve witnessed some pretty foul behavior thanks to the inebriated fans. Sadly, I’ve chosen to stay home and watch them on TV, which is a much more peaceful approach, but it sure doesn’t help the Pergulas sell tickets. With such sobering (sic) statistics as these, I think more people will choose to do so. (Side note: thanks to the legalization of recreational pot, those fans choosing that drug may just sit back, relax and laugh - no matter what the Bills are doing on the field.) There’s even a stat that suggests that when the team is winning, the consumption does in fact go down, a little. So, let’s hope the Bills continue on with their winning ways, especially for the fans that do want to go to the games in a more enjoyable atmosphere. Me Too. It is very frustrating that after several sexual harassment claims a local school professional still has a job! Why is it ok to allow repeated behavior to keep occuring, all while keeping the claims and settlements paid out quiet and unknown to local taxpayers? In 2021, voices should be heard!

SENIOR NEWS LINE By Matilda Charles

A Box of Greeting Cards A few months ago, I got the idea to send greeting cards to some residents of a local nursing home who were locked down and not allowed to have visitors. It started small: a box of greeting cards and the first names of some of the residents, courtesy of the facility director. The idea has, to put it mildly, expanded. First there was the call from the facility director wanting to know if I could enlarge my list because the residents were talking among themselves about who got cards and who didn’t. “Certainly,” I said, and bought more cards. A further expansion came when a woman called me saying that her mother was in that facility, but her mother-in-law was in another local place, and would I send cards to a few people there as well? “Certainly,” I said, and bought more cards. You see where this is going? It wasn’t long before I knew I needed some help. It wasn’t only signing and addressing the cards, it was writing an individual letter to go in each envelope. I called the guidance counselor at the high school and the ideas just flew. The service club is writing letters; they roped in the art club, which is producing individual drawings and paintings for each nursing home resident. The chorus stepped up and is planning an outdoor concert in the front of each facility when the weather warms up. (At this point they practice their music on Zoom calls.) And two students have initiated a project wherein they’re collecting craft supplies for the therapist at the nursing home to use with the residents. Does this sound like something you can start in your own area? You can start small. All it takes is a box of greeting cards -- and a few ideas.

This week’s puzzle answer is elsewhere in this paper. The Crossword Puzzle is provided by Tribune Media Services. Any questions or comments should be made to 1-800-346-8798.

Proposed York Travel Center Project Summary 1. Project Location: The York Travel Center is being proposed on the northeast corner of the intersection of NY-63 /NY-36 in the Town of York. The Travel Center project will utilize approximately 50% of the 11.4-acre parcel while retaining a substantial green space area on the north side of the project site to be utilized in conjunction with the potential development of the Little Italy Trail, Groveland Secondary Trail, and the Genesee Valley Greenway. 2. Project Description: State of the art convenience store and gas station with a size of 6,000 sq. ft. including 8 passenger vehicle gasoline fueling positions providing mid and high-grade gasoline, diesel fuel, E-85, and non-ethanol recreational fuels, 2 commercial truck diesel fueling positions, a CAT truck scale, a Tim Hortons restaurant with drive-thru providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, and a Tompkins Bank of Castile drive up ATM, and interior ATM banking facility. 3. The York Travel Center project is projected to generate more than $2M in annual tax revenues for taxing jurisdiction including the county, town, and school district. 4. The York Travel Center project will create 30 to 40 new jobs. 5. The proposed project is in harmony with the general purpose, goals, objectives, and standards of the Town’s long-term planning goals, including the Town’s Comprehensive Plan. 6. Per the Town of York Zoning Ordinance, the Project Site is properly zoned Commercial District (C). 7. The project team has made a concerted effort to keep interested residents informed of the status of the project review via letters, e-mail, phone calls, and by holding a voluntary informational meeting to allow interested residents to provide input and ask questions. 8. The project is being thoroughly reviewed by the Planning Board as required by the standards contained in the Zoning Ordinance and the State Environmental Quality Review Act (“SEQRA”), which requires municipal boards to consider the potential adverse environmental impacts of a proposed project. 9. The results of the comprehensive Traffic Impact Study required by the Town of York Planning Board in connection with its ongoing review of the project as prepared by SRF Associates, a reputable traffic engineering firm, determined that the existing transportation network can adequately accommodate the projected traffic volumes and resulting impacts to study area intersections. Furthermore, there will not be any significant adverse traffic impact to the intersection of NY-63 / NY-36 as a result of the new facility. 10. As requested by the Planning Board, the project will incorporate upgrades to the existing signalized intersection of NY-36/NY-63 to include pedestrian amenity improvements that the Town has previously identified as being needed including pedestrian countdown signals, crosswalk pavement markings and ADA compliant curb ramps. Please contact the project manager Tim Boyle with any comments, questions, or concerns at 716-523-7323 or via e-mail at tboyle@newcowny.com.

Bear is a rescue pup from Texas and loves living in upstate New York. You’d never know Bear was a southerner as he loves jumping in the snow, walks on the canal and cuddling in front of the fireplace. Bear is small yet mighty, or at least he likes to tell the squirrels so as he chases them in the backyard. Send us a photo and brief write-up of your pet and we’ll feature it. Email to: sales@gvpennysaver.com or mail to: P.O. Box 340; Avon, 14414. Pets will be published at discretion of GVPS.

Wild Animal Threat in Tennessee

Get the care you need close to home. At Noyes Memorial Hospital. To learn more, go to noyes.urmc.edu/imaging.

DEAR PAW’S CORNER: I read your recent column about whether cats will be threatened by snakes or other wildlife in rural Tennessee. I lived over 50 years in Henrietta, New York; I had raccoons, possums, deer, foxes, skunks and a plethora of other animals in my backyard every night -many more than when I lived in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Tell your reader not to worry: Almost all wild animals are much more (for good reason) afraid of you than you should be of them. Just ignore them, and you probably won’t get to enjoy them and have all the pleasure I do in seeing them in my yard. If you have a cat, you should probably keep it in at night, but they should be in anyhow. Hope this helps. -- N.Z.C. DEAR N.Z.C.: Thank you for the information! Wild animal activity can vary quite a bit depending on your region, how close you are to a town or city, the amount of undeveloped property or a wildlife reserve adjacent to your home, and more. It can even vary from neighborhood to neighborhood. For example, when I relocated from one area outside of Boston to another, the wildlife in my yard shifted drastically. I had put up with free-roaming turkeys and the occasional glimpse of a coyote in the early mornings on my suburban street for years; in my new neighborhood, the only wild pests were rabbits, with no nearby predators to keep their numbers down. In short, enjoy the rural life, make sure trash-can lids are secure, and don’t worry too much about predators menacing you and your pets. They prefer to stay out of your way. TO YOUR GOOD HEALTH By Keith Roach, M.D.

Heart Attack vs. Stroke: Balancing the Risks ---

DEAR DR. ROACH: Your recent article on statins/ strokes piqued my interest since you mentioned that statins might cause hemorrhagic strokes. My husband had a hemorrhagic stroke in 2014, cause unknown. The stroke caused aphasia and seizures. He was prescribed Crestor 10mg and then increased it to 20mg. His calcium score is very high. He also had an ischemic stroke in February 2019 and was prescribed aspirin and 40 mg of atorvastatin. I am more concerned now as to whether he should be taking statins. His LDL is 63 and HDL is 47. Your comments on this would be appreciated. -- F.D. ANSWER: Before I comment on your husband’s situation, let me make a few of the terms clear. An intracranial hemorrhage is a bleed inside the brain. The resultant pressure inside the head can cause permanent damage to nearby brain structures: a hemorrhagic stroke. Risk factors for a hemorrhagic stroke include anticoagulants -- aspirin has a very small risk, but other agents, especially warfarin (Coumadin) and, to a lesser extent, newer agents such as dabigatran (Pradaxa), have a more significant risk. Poorly controlled high blood pressure is a risk, as is consumption of large amounts of alcohol. Some people have no identifiable risk. Your husband’s case is a situation that requires clinical judgment and more knowledge than I possess to give the most informed answer. However, for most people, the risk of an ischemic stroke and of a heart attack is significantly higher than the risk of hemorrhagic stroke. Further, the benefit in statins helping with heart attack and ischemic stroke is well-studied and moderate in magnitude. By contrast, the increase in hemorrhagic stroke risk, if any, is likely to be small. The balance of risks would be in favor of treating. His high calcium score indicates a higher risk for heart attack, making a statin more important for him. If he had a risk factor for his previous hemorrhagic stroke that can be modified, then I would be more confident of the net benefit of a statin. ***

Dr. Roach regrets that he is unable to answer individual questions, but will incorporate them in the column whenever possible. Readers may email questions to ToYourGoodHealth@med.cornell.edu. © 2021 North America Synd., Inc. All Rights Reserved

DID YOU KNOW? Keeping newborn babies safe is a priority for mothers, fathers and other caregivers. Various ailments can afflict newborns, and one many new parents may be unfamiliar with is respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV. According to Hackensack Meridian Health, RSV is the leading cause of hospitalization of babies younger than one year of age in the United States. RSV produces symptoms similar to the common cold or the flu and can include runny nose, cough and trouble breathing. In severe cases, particularly in infants, a baby may need to be hospitalized if his or her breathing is greatly compromised. Examples of severe infections include bronchiolitis (an inflammation of the small airways in the lung) and pneumonia. RSV also can affect adults, but healthy adults are usually only affected by mild symptoms, says the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In such instances, recovery can take between one and two weeks. Researchers are looking into immunizing pregnant women against RSV as a way to help protect babies from the virus.

(585) 820-6324 STAY SAFE WHEN LANDSCAPING Landscaping is typically viewed as a chore by homeowners, many of who enjoy doing some work on their lawns and gardens. But only few homeowners may recognize the potential dangers of lawn maintenance. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that more than 230,000 people per year are treated for various injuries resulting from lawn and garden tools. Common injuries include loss of fingers, lacerations, broken and dislocated bones, eye injuries, and burns. Many of these injuries are entirely preventable if homeowners prioritize safety when tending to their lawns and gardens.

Recognize that more than food is available for takeout. In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York announced relaxations on laws governing what can and cannot be obtained via takeout, allowing takeout on goods that were previously restricted in regard to takeout. For example, Cuomo announced that the New York State Liquor Authority intended to temporarily relax regulations regarding the takeout and delivery of alcohol. Utilizing such services can be a great way to support local businesses while still adhering to recommendations designed to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The Town of York is again sponsoring their annual one day only Spring clean-up for Monday, MAY 10, 2021. The pickup will consist of brush, limbs and bagged leaves only, set out at the curb in front of your property on the grass. Please have your pick up ready as early as 7:00 am on that day as the Highway Department WILL NOT make any return trips during that week to areas where brush has already been collected. Please adhere to the following: no branches larger than 6ft, do not pile your brush near any obstacles in yards or under power lines. In addition, we ask that you keep your brush pile on back side of the ditch, not in. As a reminder, LEAVES ONLY are to be placed in biodegradable lawn and leaf bags, which may be purchased at a local hardware store for your convenience. No plastic garbage bags will be accepted. ROOFING & SIDING POTENTIAL INDICATORS OF ROOF TROUBLE Age: Another indicator of roof trouble may be the age of the roof. Even if there are no visible signs of damage, homeowners whose roofs have some years under their belt may want to consider replacing them. Asphalt shingle roofs typically have life expectancies of 20 to 25 years, while roofs installed over existing layers of shingles may need to be replaced after 20 years.

From mask wearing to social distancing, the idea of normal no longer exists for businesses in the area as they continue to search for new ways to serve their communities. “We are the oldest premium winery nobody has ever heard of,” vintner Will Ouweleen said as he described the O-Neh-Da Winery, located in Conesus on Hemlock Lake. Founded by Bishop Bernard McQuaid at the close of the Civil War, with the intention of supplying natural pure grade wine to local churches for Eucharistic ceremonies, the winery continues to supply 97% of their wine to places of worship spanning from Toronto to Florida. “It’s a great place for discovery and getting out of the rat race,” Ouweleen continued as he explained how the winery is looking to expand their outreach to encourage more frequent engagement within their store. “I’m hoping in the future that the winery becomes a destination for local people and those visiting from other parts of the state.” For the O-Neh-Da Winery, remaining at the whim of ever-changing safety guidelines wasn’t a feasible option, causing Ouweleen to seek solutions elsewhere. With a background in science, Ouweleen’s research led him to ActivePure® Technology, a company specializing in

klsWhile this technology has been used for many years in the International Space Station, on submarines, and in Major League Baseball locker rooms, ActivePure® Technology is adapting to the conditions created by COVID-19, creating air purifiers able to remove 99.98% of live viruses on surfaces within 7 hours and have been shown to create a 99% reduction in airborne virtual particles within 3 minutes, according to their website. Ouweleen was so impressed with his purchase that he returned to the supplier and became a distributor in hopes of spreading the word to as many businesses as possible. “This should be national news,” Ouweleen said, referring to the ability for the winery to remain functional and safe for both employees and customers. While the EPA warns that disinfection alone is not enough to combat the spread to COVID-19, Ouweleen feels confident that ActivePure® Technology is a step towards a brighter future for small businesses as well as homes and places of worship.

air purifiers. “I was looking for a solution that could be immediate, that would allow us to open up to full capacity of the winery and also allow churches to open up,” Ouweleen explained. The winery’s first step towards their solution came with the addition of an Air and Surface Pro Plus Air Purifier. According to Ouweleen, the installation process of his purifier was simple. Many of the ActivePure® devices can simply be plugged into an outlet, while others require an additional installation process. The technology, certified by the Space Foundation, uses NASA designed methods to remove viruses from the air through a process of releasing invisible supercharged microscopic particles at top speed. These particles then collide with viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens, inactivating them. According to their website, ActivePure® technology operates within the law of gases which allows their purifiers to be odorless and the particles they release to be invisible as they seek and destroy contaminants, safely disinfecting both air and surfaces within homes and businesses.

Former White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator, Deborah Brix, has recently joined the ActivePure® staff as a Chief Medical and Science Advisor in hopes of spreading the same message. In a recent video, she claims that ActivePure® Technology is capable of allowing individuals to gather indoors without a mask. It is progress ActivePure® hopes to improve upon until a return to normal is no longer a pipe dream. With the future still uncertain, Ouweleen and ActivePure® are hoping their discoveries will have a positive impact in their communities. “I have high confidence that it’s going to work going forward, no matter what we face,” Ouweleen said of the purifiers currently cleansing the air in the winery. “I would encourage everyone who’s concerned about the quality of the air they are breathing indoors to check out the technology for themselves.”

“Make it a point to do something every day that you don’t want to do. This will develop the habit of doing your duty without pain....” ~ Mark Twain

Many people view life as a succession of wearisome chores that must somehow be done. For them, existence is a constant struggle, with no escape from the necessity for doing a lot of dull, uninspiring duties. Mark Twain was never more serious than when he advised us to practice doing those things we do not wish to do, daily, rather than putting them off. When we approach such tasks and complete them, we get that feeling of accomplishment that makes life worthwhile. We drive satisfaction rather than frustration. With us, there are no “minor details.” Everything we do is significant and important to the bereaved families we serve.

General eulogy preparation tips: * Eulogies are for the living, and for everyone at a remembrance service. * Be brief. People listen for three to five minutes. After five minutes, people stop listening. * Do a bit of research. Talk to others. What are some childhood memories? Was there a favorite lesson learned? Was there a favorite quote or an inspiring song? What was the deceased like at work? What were some favorite accomplishments? * Write out the eulogy. Even if you are an experienced speaker, during the emotional time of a rememberance service it is especially easy to wander. * Write and speak from the heart. Be yourself. * Practice the eulogy. Time it. Rehearse in front of an audience (one or two people). Listen to their feedback. Edit. Practice again. * Have a back-up plan. In case you are unable to begin or finish, have someone else prepared to deliver the eulogy for you.

Thea Bodenstaff April 6, 2021 Lima, NY. On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, Trijntje (Thea) Bodenstaff, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 94. Trijntje Blaauwbroek was born in Oosterwolde, Friesland in the Netherlands on January 12, 1927, to parents Harm and Ebeltje (Vonk), as the only daughter in a family of four sons. After enduring many excruciating years in the Netherlands under Nazi occupation during WWII, Trijntje emigrated to the United States of America with her husband and infant daughter on May 6, 1949. The traumas presented by suffering under Hitler’s control instilled in Thea a profound appreciation for the country that she now called home and the American freedoms that it provided. She was unwaveringly grateful for the opportunity to vote, never neglecting a chance to exercise this privilege or speak to others about the need to appreciate this liberty. Despite her failing health, Thea insisted on completing her ballot in November 2020, proudly demonstrating that her voice mattered, after experiencing a regime that had silenced her views as insignificant. Thea’s deep-rooted patriotism was a hallmark of her character and, whether waving a flag at a parade or saluting the soldiers that liberated her hometown, she was eternally grateful for the country that had adopted her as its own. Thea was married to the love of her life, Herman Bodenstaff, for 44 years. After emigrating to America, Thea and Herman settled and raised three daughters in the Rochester area. She was a skilled homemaker and an active member of the community, participating in PTA and enjoying many years as a Girl Scout Troop leader. For over 30 years, Thea volunteered at the Rochester General Hospital Oncology Center, finding immense joy in attending the needs of the patients and assisting the staff. Her childhood aspiration was to become a nurse, but the occupation of her home country stipulated that she use those nursing skills for the Nazi regime, something she refused to do. Her morals led her to sacrifice that dream until she found an outlet at the RGH. Recognized as ‘Volunteer of the Year’ for her work at the hospital, she stated, “I love people. You get so much out of what you put in. We just all need to show each other more love.”

Sneakers exercise group, wood carving, painting and the Lima Golden Agers. She was a masterful knitter, spending many hours crafting hats for newborns at area hospitals or designing sweaters and blankets for chilly family and friends. She also held a passion for traveling the world and appreciating the intense beauty to be found, despite the early hardships she had endured and evil she had seen. Never willing to turn down an adventure, Thea’s 94 years were focused on imparting love, enjoying her family and appreciating the world around her with every moment that was granted to her. Thea was predeceased by her husband, Herman, and daughter, Evelyn Kirkwood. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy ( Joe) Barkan of Geneseo, NY, Louise (Richard) Utter of Salem, SC; son-in-law, Jim Kirkwood of Lima, NY; grandchildren, Jim ( Julie) Kirkwood, Kim Barkan, David (Anna) Kirkwood, Kristy (Nick Warner) Barkan & Jeff Barkan. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Lucy, Molly, Freddy, Kate & Henry, of whom Thea was exceptionally proud. Thea leaves behind many nieces, nephews and relatives both in the USA and the Netherlands. The family would like to also thank Thea’s devoted friend, Mrs. Margaret Paradise, for her support and friendship. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family will be holding an outdoor celebration of life at an undetermined date in the Summer of 2021. Details will be forthcoming. A private graveside service will be held in the future at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Livonia, NY. In addition, the family would like to acknowledge the exceptionally caring and skilled staff at the Avon Nursing Facility for the wonderful comfort and love they have provided Thea during such a difficult year. We are overwhelmingly grateful to all of you. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you please use Thea’s memory to spread love, kindness and perhaps even a few flower seeds to make this world even more beautiful than the way she viewed it. Donations are unnecessary but can be sent to the Rochester General Hospital Oncology Center or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, if desired. WHAT IS A WILL?

The online financial resource Investopedia notes that wills are legally enforceable documents that dictate how people want their affairs handled and assets allocated in the wake of their deaths. Wills should include a host of information, including who a person wants to assume guardianship of their minor-aged children should they pass away. This is especially important information to include in a will, as surviving relatives may have to go to court to contest guardianship if parents do not dictate who they want to serve as guardians in their wills.

Livonia, NY: At age 86, Anita passed peacefully at home on April 11, 2021 on her father’s birthday. She was born in Rochester, NY to the late Michael and Lena (Provenzano) DiBella. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her daughter, Michelle Stefano. Survived by her husband of 64 years, James V. Stefano Sr. and children, Jim (Virginia) Stefano, Jr. of Livonia, John Stefano of FL, and Gary (Concordia) Stefano of NJ; grandchildren, Leanne (Eric) Bohannon, Jeanne (Don) Brown, Cheyenne Michelle Stefano, Dakota Stefano, Cole Stefano, Nicolena Stefano and James Stefano; great-grandchildren, Gianna, Maria, Clara, Mark, Donald Jr., and James; sister, Barbara (Patrick) Fornataro; and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, caring cousins, godchild, Kelvin Dowd, and her friend, Grace Dowd, who predeceased her. Anita was born and raised on Sherman St. in Rochester and was closest to her sister Barbara, cousin Diane and her Uncle John and Aunt Cutchie Provenzano. She attended Nazareth Academy where many of her classmates became lifelong friends, and graduated from Rochester Business School. Anita met Jim on a blind date, were married in 1956, and built their home and raised their children in Henrietta. She became a medical secretary for the Rochester Ophthalmological Group for many decades, making forever friends with Kim Walker, Chris Jones and Mary Hopp (deceased), and Mary’s sister’s Ann Barbato and Evelyn Thompson (both since deceased). Anita and Jim moved to Livonia in the 70’s making that their home, and had one of the first Bed and Breakfasts in the area in the late 1980s. They built a new home in 2006. Anita always made their homes open to their neighbors, many new friends they made over the years, and to her extended family, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Her granddaughter Jeanne moved across the street and was like a daughter to her and Jim, and she was closest to her niece Patti Fornataro. Anita and Jim traveled to many destinations with one purpose in mind: to visit family and friends. Anita always had a camera in-hand to capture and keep those moments close to her. The phone calls never stopped at the house, nor did the flow of great Italian food and her special Sicilian Pizza recipe handed down from her mother Lena. Anita helped her son Jim capture her “secret” minestrone recipe in her final days. Her neighbor Sheila Wolf later became her special caregiver in her home, which was her final resting place after a progressive battle with congestive heart failure. A special thanks to Drs. Andrew Wolfe and Ryan Nelson for their outstanding personal care over the years. No prior calling hours will be held per Anita’s wishes. Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Friday, April 16th, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 6591 Richmond Mills Road, Rte. 20A, Livonia, NY. CHALLENGES OF GOING REMOTE WITH YOUR BUSINESS

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Ensuring customers can seamlessly connect with your business, and your customer service staff in particular, should be a priority when switching to a remote work setting. Remote customer service employees won’t have the direct access to management and fellow team members that they had when working on-site, so business owners can employ central management platforms that make it easy to access information regarding new products and services and previous interactions with and responses to customers. That access can help solve issues while reducing the likelihood of substantial lag time as customer service employees wait to hear from coworkers and managers about how to respond to certain issues. WAYS ESTABLISHED PROFESSIONALS CAN IMPROVE THEIR RÉSUMÉS It’s important to optimize a résumé for digital scanning, which has become a major component of the employment sector. This includes using the correct keywords and phrasing so that your résumé will get “flagged.” Take your cue from the job advertisements themselves and mimic the verbiage used.
