ARNOLD, CHURCHVILLE DOG, NOMINATED FOR ROC TOP PET

He may be a senior, but he sure is feisty.” e best prize is bragging rights and recognition from the community of the Top Pet. e rst prize winner will receive a custom-engraved Roc Top Pet plaque/cheese board, a six-pack of the dog’s new beer, a professional photo session, a decorated dog cookie box, a bandana, a canvas bag and pub glass, two general admission tickets to see the Wood Brothers and Shovels & Ropes at the Perinton Center Stage Amphitheater on June 11, Paw Balm, and a $20 gi card.

What else does the Verona Street Animal Society do besides the annual Roc Top Pet contest? Plenty. If you’re looking to adopt a pet, check their website to read available animals’ bios. Many of the pets at Verona are strays, so they may not have information regarding history, but each pet is examined by the clinical and technical teams to ensure the animal is healthy, ready for a home, and to provide as much information as possible.

Verona Street Animal Society also assists with lost and found pets. ey also help license, spay and neuter, provide rehoming support and pet safety assistance, as well as other assistance.

Pet Ale beer. e brewmasters from ree Heads Brewery will make a specialty blend to be featured at their brewery and in local Wegmans stores. Winners will be announced at a special release party in March.

What a great way to raise funds for Verona Street Animal Society, which supports Rochester Animal Services. Last year, the Society raised over $32K for pets. ey help create safe neighborhoods, support the human-animal bond, and save and enhance human/animal lives.

A Churchville dog nominated for Roc Top Pet is Arnold, a Maltese. He is almost 16 years old. He enjoys hanging out on the porch and watching the world and people go by. Arnold loves watching the Bu alo Bills with his people. In the summertime, he loves being on the water in a boat with his humans. Arnold likes to be included in conversations around the home bar. Oh, and treats. He loves food. He is a little guy with a huge personality. Arnold is a loyal buddy.

JackieLewert,Arnold’sowner,said,“Arnoldhasbeenwithme since I graduated college. He has been with me through so many life events. He spent the rst year living in Churchville with me and my family. He was with me for my rst apartment, meeting my husband, Ian, walking down the aisle in our wedding, and moving back to Churchville when we bought our rst house in 2020. He likes to meander through Churchville Park with us.

Monetary and item donations are always welcome to help maintain and improve the comfort and care of the animals at the shelter. Donations also help provide access to resources for pet owners in under-served neighborhoods. All food and treat donations must be unopened. Drop o any donations at the shelter during business hours.

How else can you help? Volunteer at the shelter. Volunteers are essential to the success of the organization. Giving your time and hearts to the animals makes a big di erence in the organization’s mission. Many activities involve direct contact with the animals. ere are also other volunteer opportunities that provide supportive and administrative functions.
