HOBBIES FOR DIFFERENT PERSONALITY TYPES Athletes can pursue a host of potential hobbies or activities that will foster their love of sports. Men and women who still have a hop in their step can sign up to compete in adult sports leagues. Depending on the sport, leagues might be available to adults of various ages and skill levels, and some may even be more focused on fun than competition. For athletes who can no longer lace up their cleats, coaching youth sports or volunteering to coach at a nearby school provides a chance to stay involved even if competing is no longer possible.

SMALL MOMENTS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE (NAPSI)—There are about 74 million children in America today and if you’re a parent, here’s something you should know: involved fathers— whether they live with their kids or not—can help their children lead happier, healthier and more successful lives. Children who feel close to their fathers are two times more likely to go to college or find a job after high school, 80 percent less likely to end up in jail and 50 percent less likely to experience depression.1 The small moments kids enjoy spending with their fathers can make a big difference in their lives. If you’re like most fathers, you’re already doing what you can to be a great dad. Here’s a look at five easy ways to keep it up. What You Can Do 1. Spend time with your children. 2. Be a positive role model. 3. Send a text to stay connected when far away. 4. Read to your children. 5. Remember #DadJokesRule! There has been a massive growth in fatherhood involvement over decades—fathers now spend nearly triple the amount of time with their children than fathers did in the 1960s.2 What Dads are Already Doing Recent research suggests fathers are already very involved: • 90 percent consider their role as a dad to be rewarding day in and day out.3 • 78 percent have talked to their child’s teacher about progress in school.4 • 61 percent have attended a PTA or other school meeting.5 • Over half have helped with a class trip, special project or activity.6 • Over a third of fathers have helped with coaching their children’s sports teams.7 Even though fathers are largely more involved than in previous generations, dads today still want to be more engaged. Nearly half say they don’t spend enough time with their kids and want to do a better job at parenting.8 To help more fathers understand the importance of their role in their children’s lives, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families, the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse (@fatherhoodgov), and the Ad Council (@ adcouncil) have partnered on a national Responsible Fatherhood Campaign. “All dads should be supported and celebrated for their efforts on Father’s Day and year-round because we know how the story ends for the kids whose fathers show up for them consistently—these children and families thrive,” says Kenneth Braswell (@braswellkenneth), Director, National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse and Fathers Incorporated. The campaign drives to Fatherhood.gov a free resource that offers information, tools and more. Dads can visit the website for ideas to get involved and stay involved in their children’s lives. Other resources include activity suggestions, homework help, online games and a long list of dad jokes! No matter how busy you may be, make time for your children. It only takes a moment to make a moment. Learn More: For helpful tips, tools, information, jokes and resources, visit www.fatherhood.gov.

Shopping locally is a great w ay to benefit your community and, in many instances, your bottom line. W hen consumers shop locally, they help stimulate their local economies, creating jobs for their neighbors by helping local businesses grow and thrive. Shopping locally also saves shoppers long trips to the mall that can w aste expensive fuel, especially if consumers don’t find w hat they’re looking for. Shopping locally is especially important w hen the economy is struggling, as smaller businesses are not alw ays as capable of bearing the brunt of a recession as larger ones.

We want to thank all the many kindnesses to our Mom, Ann Jerris, before and after her passing. For attending her celebration of life and sharing the heartfelt personal stories, we thank you. Mom would have enjoyed hearing them... over and over again. Many thanks for Mass cards and donations to her favorite charities. To Aunt Rose, Aunt Karen, nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends, Mom loves you all and so do we. Father John Hayes, you have a special place in our hearts for the visits and for a beautiful celebration Mass. Mom touched many lives. She loved people. Her spirit stays very much alive. Gardeners Powdery mold has been plaguing my zucchini, cucumber and squash plants for the past few years, in spite of many attempts to get rid of it! What’s the best solution to this problem? - Fickle Pickler (Kathryn B.) Powdery mildew on these plants is very common, especially toward the end of the season. It can be reduced or avoided by providing good air circulation – open space, staking and weed control among the plants, watering with a soaker hose instead of overhead, and avoiding excess application of fertilizer or late season fertilizing. It is easier to prevent than to treat. There are resistant varieties available. Fungicides including

DID YOU KNOW? Halitosis, or bad breath as it’s commonly known, can result from any number of factors. While food can be a culprit, some additional factors may be contributing to mouth odor as well. Poor dental hygiene is a particular concern. According to Colgate and the American Dental Association, failure to brush and floss teeth regularly leads to the accumulation of food particles in the mouth. This food can collect bacteria and begin to break down, causing a bad aroma. Dry mouth is another condition that causes bad breath. Without adequate saliva production, particles of food that may cause odor are not swept away regularly. Bad breath also may be an indication of a medical condition elsewhere in the body. Upper respiratory infections and gastrointestinal disturbances may contribute to halitosis.

DEAR DR. ROACH: I get all of my medicine by mail. Since the manufacturers stress keeping the pills at cool room temperatures, I wonder what the excessive heat does to them. The medicine must cook all day in the mailbox -- way over 100 degrees here in Florida. I wonder how much the pills or liquids are deteriorating, and how the effectiveness is influenced. -- F.N. ANSWER: You are right to be concerned. All medicines should be stored in a cool and dark place, as direct sunlight and heat can damage their effectiveness. Hormones, such as oral contraceptive pills, thyroid hormone and insulin, are among the most sensitive. Nitroglycerine is as well. Although some are shipped in packaging with cold packs and insulation, that’s not always the case. I recommend using a local pharmacy, but many people have prescription plans that require them to use mail order. If that’s the case for you, try to make sure the medicine will be delivered when you are available to receive it. If you have a temperature-sensitive medicine, such as the ones I mention above (ask your pharmacist about others), ask your mail-order pharmacy to send it in special packaging during warm-weather months.

Delivering The Freedom Of Choice

***

DEAR DR. ROACH: I am a 68-year-old male. I had triple bypass surgery two years ago. Post-surgery complications included diabetes, pneumonia and renal failure. I spent approximately three months in intensive care. After discharge I started physical therapy, as my arms and hands had atrophied. I am still doing therapy, but continue to have limited use of my arms and hands (I cannot curl my hands without force). Any insight you have as to why I am unable to use my hands would be appreciated. -- C.M. ANSWER: Muscle weakness is common after an ICU stay (it’s seen in more than 25 percent of patients), due to several separate causes. Prolonged immobility can lead to weakness, atrophy and even contractures (involuntary bending at certain joints, such as the elbow and ankle). Both critical illness myopathy (affecting muscles; it’s common in people who received steroids, like prednisone) and critical illness polyneuropathy (affecting nerves; it’s common in people with severe infection, like sepsis) can lead to weakness and atrophy. Medications are sometimes needed to paralyze muscles in surgery or in critical illnesses, and these can have long-lasting side effects, including weakness. Malnutrition is common in ICU patients, not because ICU doctors and nurses don’t know to or don’t want to feed patients, but because the body may be unable to absorb necessary nutrients. Some or all of these may combine to leave lasting physical effects from a long ICU stay. Physical and occupational rehabilitation services are the key to the recovery of function. Return of physical strength is slow and may be incomplete, so it may be necessary to use aids and to learn new ways to perform tasks. It has been my repeated experience that almost everyone can benefit from therapy, and patients who work harder, are more driven and are more optimistic tend to have the best results. Although most benefit is seen in the first year after loss of function, you still may continue to improve with therapy, perhaps utilizing different modalities. Definitely seek an occupational therapist if you haven’t already. *** Dr. Roach regrets that he is unable to answer individual letters, but will incorporate them in the column whenever possible. Education about Alzheimer’s and other dementias can turn the tide for a caregiver By Janet VanValkenburg, director of education, and Nanette Friedman, project director, Alzheimerís Associ-

If you have noticed changes related to memory loss, thinking or behavior in a family member, you may feel uncertain about voicing your worries. Perhaps, your loved one tells you, “Nothing is wrong.” Perhaps, you may have been hesitant to learn more yourself for fear of the future. However, these are significant health concerns, and it’s important to figure out what is going on with your loved one. Ask your doctor for a cognitive assessment test to either rule out dementia or establish at which stage of the disease your loved one is. Learning that someone you care about has Alzheimer’s or another dementia can be life changing. Immediate reactions of denial and fear are normal. While we understand both the person diagnosed and the caregiver need time to come to terms with the diagnosis, we urge you to reach out to the Alzheimer’s Association. We will help your family learn about the diagnosis, prepare for what to expect at various stages of the disease, and acquire strategies that will make living with the disease easier. In our experience, it is not unusual for a primary caregiver such as a spouse or an adult child to be the first in their family to seek information about the disease soon after a diagnosis. These family members attend our introductory sessions, which focus on understanding dementia and provide tools for caregivers to process a dementia diagnosis. The sooner you are able to accept the diagnosis, the better suited you will be to help your loved one move closer to acceptance, too. Some caregivers continue seeking more information and attend more advanced education programs we offer. But, more often than not, we don’t see caregivers for another year or two, while their loved one is in the early-stage of the disease. These families are absorbing information about dementia before they might be ready to learn more. Two or three years after the diagnosis and after we meet them at our introductory sessions, we see the same family members come back and enroll in our advanced education programs. As dementia progresses, communication becomes challenging. Your loved one may experience difficulty expressing themselves through language. When the person with dementia loses their ability to share thoughts, they

also lose the ability to understand the caregiver. We equip caregivers with strategies of effective verbal and nonverbal communication. These strategies can be life changing. One caregiver who attended our communication session said, “This information is so incredibly powerful, it needs to be broadcast on evening news on all channels.” Families also come back for guidance on how to read or respond to new dementia-related behaviors. Caregivers notice mood changes late in the afternoon, when their loved one gets too tired and overwhelmed. Sometimes, the person living with dementia no longer recognizes her or his spouse. They become frightened facing a “stranger” and often try to leave their home. Sometimes, the person with dementia wakes up in the middle of the night and keeps everybody awake. Many caregivers tell us, “I sleep with one eye open.” We offer advice on how to create a relaxed environment and engage your loved one in quiet activities. We also help families identify what might trigger aggressive behavior and what approaches would give your loved one an opportunity to come down and make them more comfortable in the future. Caregivers often say, “I wish I knew what I know now. I could have avoided that fight I had with Mom the other day. I feel guilty. Am I doing my best for my mom?” Occasionally, a daughter or son who is a primary caregiver comes to our education session together with a sibling who is visibly not interested. As we go through class and talk about the communication and behavioral changes their loved one experiences, a lightbulb goes off. By the end of class, we often hear the reluctant sibling say, “Oh, my goodness, Mom does have dementia.” As painful as the exercise was for them, the demeanor of this caregiver changes and, in the end, they are thankful for the information. Caring for your loved one with Alzheimer’s or another dementia often involves a team of people. Whether you provide daily caregiving or participate in the decision making remotely, our education programs will help your family navigate the journey at any stage of the disease. To learn more about our caregiver education or sign up for an education session near you, call 1-800-272-3900 or visit alz.org.

WHAT TO DO WHEN A PROJECT STALLS Start off on solid financial footing. It’s important that homeowners who want to upgrade their homes enter the home improvement process with a realistic grasp of their finances. Many home improvement projects stall when homeowners run out of money. Homeowners can avoid such unfortunate situations by only beginning a project they know they can afford. Whether funding a project with a loan or savings or a combination of both, homeowners should make an honest assessment of what they can afford to commit to a given project. If the amount of money available does not add up to the estimated cost of the project, delay the project now or you might be facing a stalled project down the road.

Visit a garden center or nursery and select a tree that will be hardy in your planting zone. Choosing native trees can increases the likelihood that the new tree will adapt to its surroundings. Also, inspect trees to determine if they’re healthy before taking them home. Look for evidence of root girdling, which occurs when the roots circle around the perimeter of the container and surround the trunk. Trees should not have any dead or dormant branches. The DIY Network suggests locating the tree where it can thrive. This means selecting a spot that can make it easier for the tree to grow tall and wide. Avoid planting near the house, where roots can crack concrete or asphalt, and always plant away from underground pipes.

REMEDY LANDSCAPE DRAINAGE PROBLEMS When confronted with drainage issues that cannot be remedied by other methods, homeowners may need to install drainage systems. Such systems often employ French drains that are built through or around the perimeter of a property. French drains are typically a trench that contains perforated plastic pipe and is backfilled with gravel. Water runs into these channels and gets swept away by the piping. Do-it-yourselfers may want to try installing drainage systems themselves. However, because excavation is necessary, it’s often best to have the property inspected and marked for utilities, then have the drainage system installed by professionals. Retired Teachers’ Organization Celebrates 83 Years By Amanda Dudek, Special thanks to Dolores Hofmann

T

he Retired Teachers’ Organization (RTO) of Rochester and Vicinity, Inc. currently brings together our school retirees for fun and fellowship as well as to support those currently teaching. All those who have worked at these schools in some capacity are welcome, including administrators, teachers, school nurses, school bus drivers, secretaries, school custodians, maintenance and school cafeteria workers. Their spouses are also welcome. Few realize, however, that this organization itself has a rich history spanning over 75 years. It all started on October 16, 1936 when Nathaniel G. West, as Chairman of the Fact Finding Committee of the Central Western Zone of the New York State Education Association, was authorized to approach retired teachers about forming an organization. Many did not believe it could be done, but Mr. West, who was to be fundamental to the group, persevered. An organizational meeting was scheduled for October 30th. Even though the weather was not favorable, over fifty retired teachers, out of a possible 200, responded and attended the meeting as did several retired teachers from the surrounding towns. A decision was made to organize the Retired Teachers’ Group, as it was then called, with Miss Josephine Williams as President, Miss Margaret J. Huck as Secretary and Mr. Louis E. Bird as Treasurer. From the beginning, the newly-formed group found its direction during its second meeting which was held on November 19th at Charlotte High School. Mr. West conducted a tour of the school which ended in the music department. The group was rewarded, while resting, with a piano solo by Mr. K. Zimmerle. A delicious luncheon was served by Miss de May of the Home Economics department and three students of the school. At the business meeting, a constitution committee was appointed. Quickly, the group’s desire to serve others became evident. Members were asked for mysteries, detective stories or old magazines that could be used by the people in the County Home. Service has remained a very important part of the RTO to this day.

Adam greets us at the Holiday Party, 2018

interest in learning, demonstrated when Miss Emma Doolittle of Binghamton gave “a fine talk on Mussolini.” After the business meeting, the members were entertained by short plays - the first and second graders presented, “Farmer Prince’s Farm,” and sixth graders presented, “Alice’s New Adventures.” Things continued to progress as the fledgling group quickly established itself. On May 11, 1937, it was decided that “any teacher receiving state retirement allowance and residing in the zone” was eligible for membership.” For the 1937-1938 school year, sixty-six people paid the $1 dues to be a member, practically doubling its membership. On September 7, 1949, the name of the group was changed to the Retired Teachers’ Organization (RTO) of Rochester and Vicinity, the name used today. The RTO currently offers a wide variety of social opportunities to its members. It holds three lunches each year and such activities as bowling, hiking and walking, bird watching, garden club, informal cross-country skiing, caroling, recorder lessons, book review, floral arranging and day tours. The RTO is always open to suggestions for new pastimes to be added, as well. Additionally, as a part of the organization’s continued service to others, the RTO now awards grants to Monroe County teachers. The RTO’s 2019 Barrie Fleegel Memorial Active Educational Grant was awarded to two teachers. Jennifer Constello, an East Irondequoit Central School District 6-8 Elementary teacher with her master’s degree in Library Media was awarded $400. Sonja Griffin, a Rochester City School District Special Education Teacher with her master’s degree in Education Leadership, was awarded $200.

Fun and fellowship did not lag far behind. The third meeting of the then R.T.G. was a Christmas Party held at School #52 on December 14th, 1936. Never forgetting others, each member had been asked to bring a gift for some lonely person in an Aged Home. Miss Clarabelle Bruce, the Principal was a gracious host. The Thirty-three members present were served a delicious luncheon. After the luncheon, Miss Josephine Williams, the president, called the meeting to order, using a gavel presented by Mr. Nathaniel West of Charlotte High School. The gavel held symbolic meaning. It was made of oak from the old school at the intersection of Lake Avenue Boulevard and River Street, the school having been torn down.

A Look Back… MOMENTS IN TIME The History Channel

* On June 28, 1972, President Richard Nixon announces that no more draftees will be sent to Vietnam unless they volunteer for such duty. He also announced that a force of 10,000 troops would be withdrawn by Sept. 1, which would leave a total of 39,000 in Vietnam.

Is It Seasonal Allergies Or Dry Eye? (NAPS)—Two of the more common eye-related problems are dry eyes and eye allergies. While the symptoms are similar, there are differences between the two conditions. Sometimes they can occur at the same time, compounding the problem. That’s why it’s important to have a medical eye exam to determine the cause of your symptoms so you can get the appropriate treatment. If you’re concerned about the cost of the exam, the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s EyeCare America program may be able to help. Understanding Allergies Seasonal eye allergy symptoms are like dry eye, but itchiness is more common. When you’re sensitive to an allergen such as molds, pollen, dust or grass, histamine is released, causing itchy, red eyes that tear or burn. Over-the-counter medications are often effective. You can also take the following steps for relief: • Limit exposure to the outdoors on high–pollen count days. • Wash your face and hands after being outside to reduce the amount of pollen on the skin. • Don’t rub your eyes; it may increase the irritants and make symptoms worse.

* On June 27, 1988, heavyweight champion Mike Tyson knocks out challenger Michael Spinks with a left hook in the first round. The match lasted just 91 seconds. * On June 24, 1997, Air Force officials release a 231-page report dismissing long-standing claims of an alien spacecraft crash 50 years earlier in Roswell, New Mexico. The UFO rumors began in 1947 when a rancher found shiny material scattered on his land. The Air Force said it was a downed weather balloon.

Examining Dry Eye Dry eye is a complex disease that has many causes that often overlap and interact. Dry eye can happen when the eye doesn’t produce enough tears or when the quality of the tears can’t keep the surface of the eye adequately lubricated. It frequently occurs with other health conditions. People tend to make fewer tears as they get older due to hormonal changes. Both men and women can get dry eye. However, it is more common in women—especially after menopause. Common symptoms of dry eye disease may include sensitivity to light, dryness and itchiness, the feeling that something is in the eye, fluctuating vision, eye fatigue and excess eye watering. Ophthalmologists—physicians specializing in medical and surgical eye care—will prescribe a variety of treatments based on the cause of the dry eye. For many people, though, a few simple lifestyle changes can resolve the problem: • Try adding moisture to the air with a humidifier. • Protect your eyes from drying wind by wearing wraparound glasses outside. • Add omega-3 fatty acids to your diet for dry eye relief. These are in oily fish (such as salmon, sardines, tuna, trout and anchovies) and in flaxseeds. • Use artificial tear ointment or thick eyedrops just before you go to bed. If your eyes remain red and irritated after trying these tips, see your ophthalmologist. About EyeCare America EyeCare America is a national public service program that provides eye care through volunteer ophthalmologists for seniors 65 and older, and those at increased risk for eye disease. HOROSCOPE ARIES (March 21 to April 19) Get your facts together and become familiar with them before you have to face up to that interview. The better prepared you are, the easier it will be to make that important impression. TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) New information might warrant changing your mind about a recently made decision. Never mind the temporary confusion it might cause. Acting on the truth is always preferable. GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) Creating a loving atmosphere for those you care for could pay off in many ways. Expect to hear some unexpected but very welcome news that can make a big difference in your life. CANCER (June 21 to July 22) Stepping away from an old and seemingly insoluble problem might be helpful. Use the time to take a new look at the situation and perhaps work out a new method of dealing with it. LEO (July 23 to August 22) You’re still in a favorable goal-setting mode. However, you might need to be a little more realistic about some of your aims. Best to reach for what is currently doable. The rest will follow. VIRGO (August 23 to September 22) A setback is never easy to deal with. But it could be a boon in disguise. Recheck your proposal and strengthen the weak spots. Seek advice from someone who has “been there and done that.” LIBRA (September 23 to October 22) Coming up with a new way of handling a tedious jobregulated chore could lead to more than just a congratulatory memo once the word reaches the “right people.” Good luck. SCORPIO (October 23 to November 21) What you might call determination, someone else might regard as stubbornness. Look for ways to reach a compromise that won’t require a major shift of views on your part. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 to December 21) You’re still in a vulnerable mode vis-a-vis “offers” that sound too good to be true. So continue to be skeptical about anything that can’t be backed up with provable facts. CAPRICORN (December 22 to January 19) Thrift is still dominant this week. What you don’t spend on what you don’t need will be available for you to draw on should a possible (albeit temporary) money crunch hit. AQUARIUS (January 20 to February 18) Staying close to home early in the week allows for some introspection about your social life. Sort out your feelings before rejoining your fun-time fellows on the weekend. PISCES (February 19 to March 20) It can be a bit daunting as well as exciting to find yourself finally taking action on a longdelayed move for a change. It helps to stay with it when others rally to support you. BORN THIS WEEK: Your love of home and family provide you with the emotional support you need to find success in the outside world. sad I missed the pancake breakfast. Thanks to all the men and women who make up our fire department!

I’d like to thank the Springwater Fire Department. Not only do they do great work responding to all the calls and keeping us safe, but they also throw some amazing community events. They did a paint night that was awesome, a meat raffle that was a lot of fun, and the amazing comedy night. I’m With the nice weather finally upon us, people are enjoying sitting outside more and would maybe like to open their doors and windows to let the fresh air in. However, that is not possible because your dog is barking for hours on end! Please, please, please take your constantly barking dog inside! People do work nights and try and sleep with windows open but can’t because your dog is Always barking! Not to mention how this must affect your poor dog! Maybe your poor dog has some issues that you are ignoring. Obedience training would help as might a separation anxiety vest or medicine! Be a more responsible dog owner. New to the town and discovered we are surrounded by amazing people on all sides, including Yvonne Struble, Mary Markle and Nikki Zinter! All are wonderful, kind people who make us love this town more and more every day.

Dansville has many nice and wonderful people in it, and if you explore the right parts of town, it’s absolutely beautiful.

I LOVE the school system. Coming from a larger city where your child is a number to a community that cares and supports our children is amazing! I will never move out

Thank you, Jessica Delaney and her windows or doors! Your turn now to do what responsible dog owners do. At least help your dog so it isn’t barking all the time! Please! Some say those that are targeted with bullying must have mental health issues. Not necessarily. Many of the minors who do such illegal things as bringing guns to school have stated that they were targeted by bullies. Just because someone is angry doesn’t necessarily mean they have a mental health issue. Often, they are angry because they are suffering injustice. Everyone has a breaking point.

Meet Brooklyn!

585-924-4506 www.puppyclass.net

She was born in Kentucky & came to live with us when she was one year old. She loves people and other dogs and brings smiles to many faces.

IT PAYS TO USE CRATES WHEN TRAINING PUPPIES

Her favorite pastime is chasing deer, squirrels and chipmunks. Brooklyn has lots of energy, begs for oatmeal cookies and loves to be petted. How lucky can we be!

Many dog owners, particularly those who have never before had a dog, may hesitate to employ crates to train their puppies. That’s understandable, as on the surface it can seem cruel or inhumane to confine a living animal to a cage. However, the AKC notes that dogs are den animals that naturally seek out canine caves for security. That’s true whether dog owners provide crates for their puppies or not. So while humans may see crates as cruel, dogs very likely view their crates as secure places where they can go if they get scared or feel skittish. In fact, according to the AKC, dogs’ perception of crates is one reason why dog owners typically find it relatively easy to get their dogs to adjust to crates and ultimately enjoy them.

WORKING PARENTS CAN CREATE BETTER WORK-LIFE BALANCE Set reasonable goals. Much of the difficulty men and women experience in regard to finding a healthy work-life balance may be a byproduct of working parents spreading themselves too thin. Setting reasonable goals can help avoid that, but doing so requires taking commitments to one’s employer and family into consideration before agreeing to take on new projects or setting deadlines for projects to be completed. This should be applied to both work and home. If a work deadline is unreasonable, professionals should discuss that with their employers, who might change the deadline or arrange for extra persons to work on the project. At home, parents should avoid taking on too many projects, such as chaperoning a child’s dance or coaching a sports team, if doing so will adversely affect the amount of time they get to spend with their families.

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A TEAM PLAYER The ability to communicate, interact and work collectively with others is both a professional and personal asset. But in certain ways, the reliance on technology has made working as a team more complicated. People have grown accustomed to spending large quantities of time alone working at computers or on phones and tablets, potentially compromising their ability to work directly with others when the need arises. According to Monster.com, when it comes to choosing a candidate for a new job or promotion, employers consistently say they want a team player. That means it’s advantageous for professionals looking to further their careers to brush up on their team-building and social skills.
