PAW'S CORNER By Sam Mazzotta
Keyboard-Loving Cat Sees Computer as Rival DEAR PAW’S CORNER: Whenever I’m videoconferencing from home, my cat insists on jumping into my lap and pawing at the screen and the keyboard. If I put him outside the room, he will meow loudly and nonstop until I let him back in. Once the call is finished, he quiets down and goes away. To my co-workers, this is just a funny distraction, but I worry that it will have a negative impression on clients. How can I calm him down? -Melanie in Pittsburgh DEAR MELANIE: This is a tough one that many cat owners have faced. And now that so many of us are exclusively working from home, it’s going to continue -- unless you take some proactive steps. Cats jump onto your keyboard because they know it gets your attention. They’re not trying to figure out how to write social media posts. They just want you to pay as much attention to them as you do to the laptop screen. And locking a cat out of the room can trigger separation anxiety or just plain frustration that they can’t get in to be with you. Try this: Before a video call, give your cat 10 to 20 minutes of undivided attention. Pet him, play with his favorite toys, scratch his belly. This may help stop or reduce the number of times he jumps into your lap. Use positive reinforcement to teach your cat to do more of what you want and less of the things you don’t want him to do. To learn more about this training method, go to napahumane.org and search for “cats, positive reinforcement training.” Its basic premise is to reward your cat when he does something right. mom and dad’s cottage. They acted quickly and decisively to pull him out of the water before calling 911 because my dear friend knew she had to get him out of the water. With help from her son-in-law and others, they brought him back to life and saved my son. We never know when we will witness the hand of God, but He is and was in Honeoye that day and worked a miracle through my friends. Praise God Almighty!

HEROES The names of those involved are not important. They know who they are. They are my neighbors and friends I have known a long time. Last week, they were my heroes. INEFFICIENCY I am 39 years old. I have grown up around dogs, and my dad used to adopt from (local shelter) years ago. (Local shelter) now forces you to make an appointment to even enter the building. I saw two dogs on their website that I wanted to look at, so I made an appointment that put me a week out. By the day of the appointment, the two dogs I was interested in were already adopted. The whole point of making the appointment was to view these dogs. What a completely inefficient way of conducting your operations, and don’t you dare blame it on coronavirus. I don’t appreciate having my time wasted. Am I left to assume I have to make an appointment and hope there happens to be a dog I want at that moment, or else I’m out of luck? You are making adoptions more difficult than they have to be!
ABUSING HOTELS AND MOTELS I manage a hotel in (local town) and want to vent about unacceptable behavior I’ve observed over the last 7 years. Local people, almost exclusively from (local city), will reserve a room by pooling money amongst 6-10 friends to afford the room. Once in the hotel, they play loud music, smoke, come in & out throughout the night, have parties, making excessive noise. They bring many non-guests to the swimming pool, and we’ve needed to shut down our pool on several occasions because of poor water quality. They have absolutely no consideration for our other valued guests. Here’s a suggestion to those trashing our hotels: stay at one of your friends’ houses, smoke, drink and make as much noise as you want. Don’t do it in a hotel!

IN RESPONSE TO NOSY NEIGHBOR Upon reading the post, I don’t feel that the person was nosy or spying. You also stated that the person makes the rules on his property. Well, in the times we live in, I think, in some ways, that is changing. As the Governor stated long ago, no one has the right to make anyone else sick with corona virus. They are enforcing wearing a mask, if you haven’t noticed, also social distancing. I would be disturbed if I saw neighbors, whomever, blatantly disobeying common sense things, such as social distancing, and the wearing of masks. That does not make a person nosy, just alert to what is going on in their surroundings. Disobeying such things as having a large group over your house, without social distancing, nor masks, can potentially be life threatening to the rest of us.

that came to my aid after I fell in the parking lot of McDonalds in Dansville on August 5th. They were so kind, helpful and attentive. They got the store employee, blocked incoming traffic until the police and ambulance arrived. When I was placed into the ambulance, my husband went to get their names, and they were already gone. But I will never forget their kindness. As I now recover from a fractured hip and sprained wrist, thinking of them makes me

MUSIC This is for “Turn down your music”. You really can’t complain much since it was during day. If it bothered you so much you should have gone over to ask them to turn it down in a nice way. And you have to consider that these days music may help a person deal with all that is going on. I know it does me at times. Also, that person may have a hearing loss you don’t know about. As for taste of music being different, everyone has a different taste of music they like. You can’t change that. That’s for sure. If it goes on into the night, then call the police.

Charcoal grills can remain hot for hours, even long after the flames have extinguished. As a result, charcoal grill users should recognize that their jobs are not done once the burgers, hot dogs and other foods have been removed from the grill. To safeguard against fires resulting from still-hot charcoal grills, grillmasters should avoid moving the grill while the coals are still burning hot. In addition, avoid placing any flammable objects close to the grill while the coals are cooling down. Potentially combustible items should also be kept far away from charcoal grills, ideally in locations where gusts of wind cannot blow them toward the grill. Charcoal grill owners can also inspect the metal grates on their grills to make sure they are not rusted. Damaged or rusted grates can make it possible for items to fall down onto surfaces below the grate, increasing the risk of fire. Another way for charcoal grill users to make using their grills more safe is to avoid the use of starter fluid or other igniters once the coals have been ignited. Doing so only increases the risk of fire or accident and is unlikely to help the coals maintain a strong flame that lasts long enough to cook foods quickly.

STAY COOL THIS SUMMER WHILE LIMITING ENERGY CONSUMPTION Embrace strategic landscaping. The landscaping outside of a home can contribute to cooler climates inside the home. Deciduous trees shed their leaves annually, and when planted on the western and southern sides of a home, these trees can block the sun from entering the home during the hottest times of day, reducing the need to lower the thermostat on air conditioners. Of course, when these trees shed their leaves in late fall, sunlight can then make its way into the home, potentially reducing heating costs.

Modern technology has forever transformed the classroom. As calculators replaced abacuses, mobile phone apps have now replaced calculators, and such advancements continue to change how students learn. One way schools are notably different from those of the past is through the absence of a once major component of the classroom layout. Chalkboards are either missing or completely retrofitted in modern learning environments. In the 1800s, slate blackboards were the new technology, replacing handheld tablets of wood or slate. Within the last few years, schools have increasingly opted for cleaner “white boards” or “smartboards,” which are digitally connected to computers and offer touch interfaces similar to those on tablets and smartphones. As ebooks replace textbooks and more assignments are handed in via digital documents, lockers may be the next to vanish. Page 9

Children have long been drawn to expressing themselves through art. According to developmental experts, coloring stimulates creativity, contributes to better handwriting, teaches color recognition, and can promote hand-eye coordination. Coloring books can help children learn to recognize boundaries and structure and develop spacial awareness. Adults, too, have recognized the benefits that coloring can bring, which includes stress reduction and improved focus. Crayons have long been a favorite tool for coloring, and over the years certain colors have emerged as fan favorites. Crayola® conducted polls in 1993 and 2000 to find out the most popular colors of crayons in America. Blue was voted the favorite both times. Six other shades of blue, including cerulean, midnight blue, aquamarine, periwinkle, denim and blizzard blue, finished among the top 10. Purple heart, caribbean green and cerise rounded out the top 10.

Q &A with the
triggerboy322@aol.com Fence Etiquette Prevents Disputes: There are certain things you must do and should do if you plan to erect a fence. Most people find neighbors appreciate being informed of any decisions you are thinking of making to the property that can affect their views or their adjoining property. Before drawing up fence plans with a contractor, talk to the neighbors on either side of your home and gauge their receptiveness to a fence. At this point, you may want to consider offering to make the fencing project a joint deal to save money should the neighbors decide to install a fence as well. Contractors will often discount if they have several customers doing an installation at the same time. Property owners can save by splitting the costs of the shared walls of the fence where their property lines meet.

SENIOR NEWS LINE By Matilda Charles
Getting Through the Day Some random thoughts for getting through the day. Have you heard of custom puzzles? They’re available at a number of places online. (Read the reviews before you order and look for U.S. companies.) Select a favorite vacation or family photo, decide on the size of the puzzle and the number of pieces, send in your order and you’ll get back all the pieces to create a puzzle of that image. Call the company first to be sure of the details. Buy stamps by mail and stay out of the post office. Ask the local post office to have your mail carrier bring out a stamp order form and envelope. Check off the ones you want, write a check payable to Postmaster and slide it into the envelope. Leave it in your outgoing mail and within a few days your stamps will be delivered to you. If you miss playing chess with others, you can play online. See www.chess.com/play/computer and play against the computer. Better yet, play against a pal using an old-school method: set up a board on each end and send your moves to each other via email. On the other hand, too many people are trying to cut their own hair nowadays since too many salons and barber shops are closed. If you think you want to cut your own hair, don’t. If you really insist you need to cut your hair and haven’t done it before, go online to YouTube and watch a few dozen how-to videos about cutting hair. Then rethink your plan again. Whatever you do, don’t use regular kitchen or paper scissors. If you have to do this, invest in proper haircutting shears.
This week’s puzzle answer is elsewhere in this paper. The Crossword Puzzle is provided by Tribune Media Services. Any questions or comments should be made to 1-800-346-8798. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

TIPS TO HELP MEN LOOK THEIR BEST: Protect your face. Skin dries with age, but men can take steps to protect their skin and keep it glowing as they grow older. When spending time outdoors, always wear sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 and, ideally, one that includes moisturizer as well. Exposure to the sun without adequate protection can lead to the formation of lines and wrinkles while increasing a man’s risk for skin cancer. Night creams that contain retinol can help smooth wrinkles and give skin a more even-toned look. Prescription night creams tend to be considerably more potent than over-the-counter alternatives.

* “Here’s a great tip for use at bath time with baby: I have a sippy cup that changes color when the drink is hot. Oddly enough, it changes at the perfect temperature for baby’s bath. So, I fill the tub and toss in the cup. When the cup starts to change back to its original color (blue), I know the bathwater is not too hot. I always swish the water around and check with my wrist also, but it is a good visual clue to check.” -- P.B. in Idaho * “To remove muffins or rolls from a pan, set it on an old, damp towel for a minute. The steam must loosen the bottoms because they just slide right out. I thank my mom for this tip.” -J.R. via e-mail

* When heating milk in a pan, “seal” the pan with unsalted butter to keep the milk from filming and sticking to the sides. Lightly coat all sides of the pan with butter, and the milk is sure to not leave scum, which can take away from the rich flavor of the milk. * Do you find yourself throwing away unused and spoiled fruits and veggies at the end of the week? Try setting aside time after you come home from the grocery store for prepping fruits and vegetables. Pre-bag snack sizes of carrots, celery, strawberries, grapes, cantaloupe and apples. Pre-cut veggies for meals to make later in the week. Slice tomatoes and onions for sandwiches, and tear and separate lettuce for salads. They all make great, healthy treats, and having them ready to go makes it easier to get that five a day!

Wild Wings Educates on Wildlife at Mendon Ponds Nature Center By Amanda Dudek
M
any Greater Rochester area residents have likely heard of Wild Wings, a not-for-profit educational wildlife organization. However, many are not aware of what they do, how they are funded and the crucial role they play for area wildlife. Jessica Kozakiewicz, a Wild Wings volunteer with over 10 years of experience, fills readers in on the organization’s mission, challenges, new happenings and more. Wild Wings is not a wildlife rehabilitator, but rather, they give animals a home after rehabilitation. “We provide a home for animals which have already been rehabilitated and have been deemed non-releasable,” said Kozakiewicz. Wild Wings primarily cares for injured birds of prey which are unable to survive on their own in the wild such as eagles, hawks, falcons, vultures, and owls. “Any animal that is non-releasable is typically euthanized,” she explained. “Rather than let that happen, we give them a permanent home, and they partner with us for education.” In fact, Wild Wings’ mission is to “teach environmental stewardship through programs featuring [its] resident raptors as [its] teaching partners.” Volunteers, trainers and handlers travel with some of these birds of prey to present at schools and events. Kozakiewicz participates in training, handling and educational programs which now have another facility from which to serve the community: the Mendon Ponds Nature Center within Mendon Ponds Park. Wild Wings, currently houses and cares for 34 permanently injured non-releasable birds of prey. “These birds are of various species, both native and non-native to New York State,” shared Kozakiewicz. “We now
house injured songbirds in our new aviary, providing visitors with a new educational experience. We have also had a bobcat for the last several years.” “We just took in two new fox kits, which is new for us at Wild Wings,” shared Kozakiewicz. “We plan to have a good variety of reptiles that you would see in the park, such as a number of snakes, turtles, frogs, toads and fish species.” Wild Wings hosts educational programs and hikes, as well, where visitors can learn about animals and the environment, although things have been difficult in 2020. “COVID has certainly been challenging,” Kozakiewicz acknowledged. “It closed our facility down, and we weren’t able to have the public come through. We are also on a lease agreement for the Nature Center, and while many people believe we are funded through Monroe County or other government agencies, we are not. We are funded entirely by donations with some help from the fees of our educational programs. We had to cancel some of our larger fundraising events and lost several fundraising opportunities.” Kozakiewicz believes Wild Wings and the impact it has had and continues to have on wildlife education and conservation is too important to let fall by the wayside. “At Wild Wings, people get to see the world as they haven’t before,” she explained. “They get to know our resident birds and other animals. When people leave us, they can identify birds on these park trails and realize why some of them are helpful to humans. They

want to protect these species in the wild, preserving them in the natural world.” It appears to be working. “One of the best examples of human wildlife conservation is what has happened with our local bald eagle population,” shared Kozakiewicz. “They were almost completely extinct, in large part due to the use of the pesticide, DDT. The bald eagle populations were very low, and people realized this was a threat. They joined together, stopped widespread use of DDT, and encouraged numbers to grow. Today, there are bald eagle populations on Lake Ontario and every single Finger Lake.” It is imperative, then, that Wild Wings continues providing for these birds in need as well as for its education programs which help people appreciate them. “We are looking at different ways to be able to offer more private, individualized group settings for now,” said Kozakiewicz. “The nature center is one of our biggest expansions yet, and we are working hard to be able to offer it this fall. We plan to talk about the different trails in the park, its ecology, and which species are found within the park. Also, we are always very open to things visitors would like to see and learn about with regards to the animals we care Jessica Kozakiewicz with Kisonsen for.” “It has always been so inspiring to me to work up close with these amazing animals,” Kozakiewicz added on a more personal note. “I feel such a sense of pride that I get to share this knowledge with all our visitors, to help them to see something new and inspiring in the world around them, as well.” Like many not-for-profit organizations, however, the future of Wild Wings, its educational efforts, and the magnificent birds they care for will depend in many ways on the support of those who share its love for these incredible birds of prey, songbirds and other wildlife. “We are almost completely supported by the generosity of public donations,” affirmed Kozakiewicz. “Our supporters can be assured that, as a primarily volunteer-run organization, funds donated to us are going to our animals and furthering our mission of education, allowing it and us to continue.” “We are a local, grassroots organization built by the community for the community,” said Kozakiewicz. “Those who donate can clearly see the impact of their investment in us.” Enjoy this article? TO YOUR GOOD HEALTH By Keith Roach, M.D.
THREE WAYS TO RELIEVE ARTHRITIS PAIN
Pulmonary Fibrosis Needs Exact Diagnosis ---
by Dr. Bob Arnot
DEAR DR. ROACH: My husband was recently diagnosed with mild to moderate pulmonary fibrosis. His mother died from pulmonary fibrosis. From what we have read there is no cure, only palliative care. The thought of doing nothing to try to stop the progression is totally unacceptable when there have been such successes with immunotherapy and stem cells. Would he receive more aggressive treatment going to a pulmonary fibrosis care center that has lung disease programs? -- C.D. ANSWER: There are several diseases that may cause fibrosis of the lung, so having an exact diagnosis made by an expert is critical for getting the right treatment. The most common type of pulmonary fibrosis is called “idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis” (it also has been called “usual interstitial pneumonia” and “cryptogenic fibrosing alveolitis”), and I am going to discuss that diagnosis. The cause of IPF is unknown (both “idiopathic” and “cryptogenic” mean “of unknown cause”), but cigarette smoking is a risk factor. It is usually diagnosed in people who are their 50s and 60s, although some familial cases may come on earlier. IPF can run in families. Although it is a rare disease, it seems to be on the rise. The major symptoms are cough and shortness of breath. There is no cure for IPF, but there are treatments available. Two drugs, pirfenidone and nintedanib, are approved for use in the U.S. and Canada. Both of them slow progression of lung disease, reduce exacerbations and have been proven to reduce mortality from the condition, if only slightly. I am concerned that you and your husband apparently haven’t heard of these drugs. I strongly advise you get a referral to a center for lung disease in order to get your husband the best care. I found 35 IPF trials recruiting patients in the U.S. and six in Canada. A clinical trial will help scientists understand this condition as well as determine the best current treatment. You also can find out what centers have expertise on this condition by seeing where the trials are conducted at www.clinicaltrials.gov. The most aggressive treatment isn’t always the best, but you and your husband deserve to hear about all the options. The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation can help you find experienced centers for treating this condition. You can find them online at www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org. *** DEAR DR. ROACH: My niece recently was diagnosed with breast cancer. Radiation was recommended. Her mother said that first she’d have to boost her immune system. Is it possible to actually do that? -- P.P.L. ANSWER: Radiation is a common treatment after breast cancer surgery. It’s done to reduce the risk of recurrence, depending on the exact type of cancer. Boosting the immune system is a new adjunct for many types of cancer. There are several ways to do this: One is to genetically modify the patient’s own immune T-cells, but many other techniques are in trials now. However, if your niece’s mother is talking about supplements, I’d be cautious. Supplements that are promoted to boost the immune system generally are ineffective at doing so. Making sure your niece has proper nutrition, gets good sleep and experiences as little stress as is manageable are ways to prevent stress on the immune system. Everyone could benefit from those deceptively simple steps, but especially a person being treated for cancer. *** Dr. Roach regrets that he is unable to answer individual questions, but will incorporate them in the column whenever possible. (NAPSI) — Over the course of my career as a physician, chief medical correspondent and war correspondent, I’ve been exposed to a wide variety of pain management drugs and approaches. One thing I’ve seen is that the United States is much more reliant on taking pills for pain than the rest of the world, where topical analgesics, physical therapy and other approaches are more widely used. A problem with pills is that many of them come with side effects that can be severe, especially if the medications are used in greater quantities or for longer than they’re supposed to be. That’s one reason for back, muscle and joint pains, I believe it’s best to start with topicals. What’s more, the Centers for Disease Control, the American College of Rheumatology and other medical experts agree it’s a safer approach. Fortunately, if you are an arthritis sufferer and want effective relief, there are two topicals that are FDA approved the same way Ibuprofen, Naproxen Sodium and other prescription pain medicines have been through the demanding new drug application process. While both help relieve arthritis pain, it is important to know the differences between Salonpas Pain Relief Patch Large and Voltaren Arthritis Pain gel. Salonpas Pain Relief Patch Large was the 1st topical approved by the FDA and provides relief for up to 12 hours. It begins to work in one hour and can provide clinically meaningful pain relief in the first day. Since it is a patch, the medicine is pre-measured and easy to apply. Not only does this patch help relieve arthritis pain, but it also works for back, muscle and joint pain as well. On the other hand, Voltaren Arthritis Pain gel is not labeled for immediate relief and may take up to 7 days to help achieve relief. To apply this gel, you must first measure out an amount based on a dosing card. Voltaren is effective for up to 6 hours and should only be used for arthritis pain. In addition to topical relief, joint and muscle pain can be treated with physical therapy. It can keep stiff joints from getting stiffer, reduce strain on joints during daily activities and help you get back to normal life without pain or difficulty. Also helpful are hot and cold compresses. Heat is good for joint stiffness and cold compresses can ease joint pain. Just remember, don’t apply heat to a joint that’s already hot. If you feel a burning sensation in your joint, cool it with the cold compresses. Dr. Arnot is board certified in internal medicine and an award-winning journalist, author of twelve books on nutrition and health and host of the Dr. Danger reality TV series. You can find more helpful healthcare and pain relief information from Dr. Arnot at https://us.hisamitsu/.

BE SAFE, HEALTHY AND HAPPY IN THE WORKPLACE WHILE PREGNANT While pregnancy is a natural occurrence and one female bodies can accommodate, in some instances, work requirements may threaten the safety or the health of the fetus. Therefore, employers are under a duty to accommodate female workers who may need to modify their duties due to their pregnancies. This can be a collaborative discussion, with both the employer and employee coming to a solution that works best for them. It is the employer’s responsibility to accommodate pregnant employees by removing barriers that may limit those employees’ ability to do their jobs. Each instance should be looked at individually.

DID YOU KNOW? Numerous studies have found that vacationing produces a host of health benefits. The ongoing Framingham Heart Study, which began in 1948 and is currently studying its third generation of participants, found that men who did not take a vacation for several years were 30 percent more likely to have heart attacks than men who took time off. In addition, the FHS found women who take a vacation only once every six years or less were nearly eight times as likely to develop coronary heart disease or have a heart attack as women who vacation at least twice per year. Vacations also have been linked to lower stress levels, as a study from the American Psychological Association concluded that vacations reduce stress by removing people from activities and environments that are the sources of their stress. Vacations can even benefit employers, as an internal study from the professional services firm Ernst & Young found that employees’ year-end performance ratings improved by 8 percent for each additional 10 hours of vacation time they took. EARLY TREATMENT KEY TO MANAGING SEASONAL DISEASES IN CATTLE
SHOPPERS SAVE BIG ON GROCERIES WITH HEALTHY SAVINGS® POWERED BY AARP FOUNDATION (NAPSI) — Good nutrition is important at any age. But for older adults on a tight budget, regular access to nutritious foods can be limited—and expensive. A new program aims to change that by making it easier to get healthy foods at the local grocery store for an affordable price. With Healthy Savings® powered by AARP Foundation, shoppers pay a small fee of $4.99 per calendar year for a card that can save them up to $200 a month on groceries. The program is part of AARP Foundation’s work to help people over 50 with limited income eat more nutritious foods, ultimately improving their well-being. Research shows that more than 10 million older adults don’t get enough nutritious food on a daily basis, most often because they can’t afford it. Eating healthy is about more than affordability, however. Not only does Healthy Savings reduce costs, it also identifies healthy options in the store. All products available through Healthy Savings are scored against the USDA’s Healthy Eating Index to make sure they qualify as nutritious. The index makes it convenient to choose the healthiest foods, which include lean meats, eggs, yogurt, whole grains, and a wide range of other options. The typical over-50 diet scores low in key food groups like whole grains and dairy. By encouraging the purchase of more of these nutrients through coupon discounts, Healthy Savings can help older adults: • Lose weight or maintain a healthy weight. • Reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. • More easily manage a chronic disease. • Increase or maintain energy levels. Shoppers who sign up for Healthy Savings receive a card in the mail and can download a mobile app, both of which can be used at 22,000 grocery stores across the U.S. for instant savings at checkout. The savings come on top of any from store loyalty cards and manufacturers’ coupons (so long as coupons don’t add up to more than the price of the item). Each week, new coupons are automatically loaded onto the card and app—no coupon clipping required. Over the course of a year, Healthy Savings can save shoppers as much as $2,400. More information, including recipes and tips for shopping smart, is at aarpfoundation.org/save.
(NAPSI) — Two of the more common production-impacting health issues cattlemen see in their herds this time of year are foot rot and pinkeye. Left untreated, each can lead to more serious, chronic health problems.
STRANGE BUT TRUE By Lucie Winborne
Foot rot, pinkeye and other common cattle ailments are highly dependent on pasture, weather and other conditions. Foot rot is more problematic when cattle are kept in wet, muddy and manure-heavy lots. Caused by the Fusobacterium Necrophorum bacteria, symptoms include swelling and inflammation between the toes, resulting in lameness and reluctance to walk.
Serves 2 1/3 cup orzo 2 large tomatoes 1 cup crabmeat, picked over for pieces of shell 1/3 cup chopped black or green olives 2 tablespoons crumbled reducedfat feta cheese 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill 2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Pinkeye is a highly infectious eye condition that can affect cattle of all ages, often on tall-grass pastures and in environmental situations that can irritate the eye. Flies are a major irritant and vector for the disease, so controlling them and other sources of irritant is critical. Delayed treatment of pinkeye can result in loss of the eye, reduced performance and a less marketable animal. Fortunately, with timely surveillance and treatment, these infections, along with other diseases, can be easily and cost-effectively managed by producers with a non-prescription injectable product such as Noromycin 300 LA, a highly concentrated, lowdose, fast-acting formulation of oxytetracycline. Effectively used by cattlemen for many years, it is widely available through most farm and veterinary supply companies. Learn more at www.norbrook.com. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

CRAB SALADSTUFFED TOMATOES
Puzzle Answers This Week
ISMS
1. Cook orzo according to package directions, omitting salt if desired. Drain and rinse under cold water; drain again. 2. Meanwhile, cut thin slice off tops of tomatoes; reserve tops. Using spoon, carefully scoop out seeds and pulp; reserve for another use. 3. Gently toss together crabmeat, olives, feta, dill, vinegar, salt, and pepper in medium bowl. Spoon crabmeat mixture evenly into tomato shells and cover with reserved tomato tops. Cook’s note: Scoop the seeds and pulp from the tomatoes into a storage container. Cover and freeze up to 4 months and toss them into a soup or stew.
