Mayor's Message
After two plus years, life in the Village has returned to a sense of normalcy. The Village Board has returned to meetings in the Board Room without restrictions for its bi-monthly meetings, and the number of people allowed into the meetings is no longer limited to those wishing to address the Board during the Public Comment portion of the meeting. The Village Hall is open for business. We are still requesting that an appointment be made when seeking passports, but for other business, no prior appointment is necessary.
Village functions are again being held in the Village. The BID had a great summer schedule of movies, concerts, the Jazz Fest, and wine and beer walks. Our 9/11 memorial ceremony was held at Veterans Memorial Park. The Trick or Treat Trail will be held in the Village in October, and the Veterans Day luncheon will again be served to Vets and their spouses with boxed lunches which will be brought to their cars after the ceremony. It was wonderful to again have the Fireman’s Carnival return after a two-year break, and the Village is looking forward to White Christmas in the Village with Santa and the Parade of Lights.
Businesses have been fully open, as well as the restaurants, many of them with both indoor and outdoor seating. I wish to thank the community for the outstanding support that you have given to the businesses and restaurants through the last couple of years.
This summer was very warm and dry, which means that our outdoor activities were well-attended. The residential district also has seen a lot of activity with high pedestrian traffic as couples, families, dog walkers, etc., have continued to be outdoors, taking advantage of the great weather. We ask that all play safe, practice good community health habits, and respect your neighbors. - Mayor Darrell Byerts
