September 6–December 15, 2017 Monday to Wednesday, 10 am to 3:30 pm NIC Mount Waddington Campus If you are interested in completing pre-requisites for entrance into a college program or in working towards your BC Adult Grad, earn credits in this program that blends outdoor exploration with indoor instruction. Course material includes English and math. Financial support is available for students who need help covering course materials. Meet with an educational advisor for more information.
INTRODUCTION TO KWAK’WALA KWA-097 | 45 LECTURE HOURS | 2 CREDITS Learn basic conversation, structure and pronunciation of Kwak’wala, the language of the Kwakwaka’wakw Indigenous peoples. Immerse yourself with a focus on listening and speaking the language, and learn about greetings, social interactions, household activities, cultural activities, food harvesting and other aspects of a rich and continuing tradition.

The program kicks off with a three-day camping trip from September 11-14. Get to know your fellow students and connect with the land, sea and sky.
START THE NEXT JOURNEY Completing this course help you on your way to the next steps in your education, such as completing prerequisites you need for programs like NIC’s Tourism & Hospitality Management Certificate, Coastal Forestry Program and other post-secondary options.
