Gwa’sala-’Nakwaxda’xw Nations JOB POSTING: BAND MANAGER The Gwa’sala-’Nakwaxda’xw Nations are seeking a new full-time Band Manager. The Band Manager will be responsible for the leadership, management, administration and delivery of the Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw Administration’s programs and services. The Band Manager supervises all band employees and reports directly to Chief and Council. We are seeking candidates with post-secondary education and 5-7 years of increasingly responsible management experience, preferably with First Nations. Successful candidates will have superior financial management skills, supervisory and human resource management skills, communications, organization, and a strong background in negotiation and conflict resolution as well as experience in program evaluation and development and strategic planning. Experience in policy development is also an asset. Candidates should also have a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, including the Indian Act, as well as the role of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada and the BC Treaty Process. Candidates must be willing to undergo a criminal record check as part of the interview process. The successful candidate must be willing to live in the town of Port Hardy.
