The Language Committee Coordinator will attend training with other Language Committee members in fall 2013 (dates to be determined). The Language Committee Coordinator will meet with the FPCC Language Committee and Language Plan Development Program Coordinator via phone or internet twice per month to discuss project progress, challenges and successes, and to share with other Language Committee Coordinators. Host a minimum of the meetings per year with the Language Committee members and key stakeholders. Language Coordinator will host meeting one and schedule meetings 3 more meetings. Hold a Community Mobilization Meeting: Host an initial meeting and invite all participating communities, stakeholders and Language Committee members to discuss the role of the Language Committee and the activities to be undertaken during the year. Host meeting 2. Develop a Vision Statement: Invite stakeholders to discuss “big picture� goals for the language and the Language Committee. Develop a vision statement that will guide the work of the Language Committee. Host Meeting 3. Develop a Terms of Reference: Establish a terms of reference that will clearly establish the roles and responsibilities of the Language Committee and guide the work into the future. Host Meeting 4. Develop a Community Language Plan: Develop a language plan to provide a framework or roadmap for carrying out language activities with the resources that are available to meet the community language goals. It will guide the implementation and evaluation of project activities. Host meeting to involve all Kwak'wala speaking communities.

Complete a Community Language Assessment Survey: Survey all members of all participating communities to accurately determine the status of your language, and identify areas of need. We will use Template 1 to assist with this process. Provide survey results to Kwakiutl community by November 8, 2013. Provide survey result to Quatsino community by January 10, 2014 Provide survey results to Gwa'sala-Nakwaxda'xw community by March 7, 2014. Locate all existing resources available for the language. Find out what work has already been done on the language, either by other community language activists or by external linguists or other parties. Also find out what revitalization work has been done elsewhere (in B.C. or internationally) that may guide our community. Create an archive space to collect copies of all language resources in the community. Share results with all Kwak'wala communities at the community gathering that will be hosted in one of the Kwak'wala speaking communities. A language policy can greatly support language planning and language activities in the community. An official language policy will ensure that all language activities and plans reflect the goals of the language community, and will support the coordination of all language revitalization efforts. The report will be completed by the end of the project. Fundraising will be an ongoing task of the Language Committee, to support the language initiatives and keep the momentum going to complete the overall language plan. The Language Committee Coordinator will seek out sourcing of external funding options. Complete final report by March 28, 2014.
