Elder’s update Yo wiksas?

I hope all is well with you and yours. The winter months are near. Just a little update report on the Elder's Program:

GNN- Fire Prevention Program

Elder's luncheons have resumed as per usual, Wednesdays.

GNN Chief and Council have approved a new community wide initiative!

We will join Building blocks and their walking program every Tuesday & Thursday @ 10am down at the bridge. Please come out and lets go for a stroll together. Chimney sweep:

Fires big or small in homes can cause devastating loss not only to property but to the lives of the people who live there. In order to reduce these tragedies a Fire Prevention Program is being established which will provide each home with the necessary tools ls to keep their families and home safe. Over the next few months a team of trained individuals will be making appointments with community members to visit their homes and install new Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarms at no cost to the homeowner. Statistics show w that homes where smoke alarms have been installed detect fires when they are small and more easily extinguished by the Fire Service. More importantly working smoke alarms alert the occupants of the home of a fire and allow them time to escape. In addition n to the installation of the smoke/CO alarms public education materials covering home escape plans and fire safety messages will be provided to every home. Let’s work together to make GNN fire safe community!

Please don't be startled when hen you see Conrad and a helper climbing on your roof. They will be cleaning all the Elder's chimneys so they can have their wood stoves ready for the cold season upon us. Elder's Council: Have been meeting on regular basis now. There will not be a meeting ting this week. We will schedule the next meeting for next week . Finance: I have submitted a detailed report to G&N Trust & Elder's Council. Our Quickbooks online program makes it easy to print of the reports required in our contract with renewal of funding the Elder's Program receives every year. Annual Elder's Conference 2017: The Annual Conference will be in Campbell River next July 10 1014, 4, 2017. Unfortunately all hotels are booked in Campbell River and all surrounding areas. We are looking at renting 6 travel trailers and camping or the Travelodge in Nanaimo, and we'd have to drive back and forth every day. Catering: We have been busy with regular catering jobs. Thank you to G&N Trust for being such great customers. We catered for Island Health Aboriginal Health Program on Thursday.
