NOTICE TO THE COMMUNITY – CUSTOM ELECTION CODE Hello Community Members,

  

NOTICE TO THE COMMUNITY – SPEEDING AND SPEED BUMPS Hello Community Members,

In an effort to update and improve on the Custom Election Code, Chief and Council have approved and implemented a new Custom Cus Election Code for the upcoming elections. The highlights of the code are:

The Chief and Council, and the Band Office have received numerous complaints about speeding on reserve. Chief and Council takes these concerns very seriously. To that end, additional speed bumps are being constructed in the community over the next few weeks.

Members from the Mount Waddington District can now be nominated for Council positions. The duration of the term in office is now 3 years, instead of 2 years. Candidates must be in n financial good standing with the Band.

Chief and Council passed a motion last year to limit the driving speed in the community to 20 Kph. New signs have been ordered for the speed limits and street names. This is to assist first responders like the police or fire department more easily finding ing addresses on reserve.

I encourage everyone to review the document in preparation for the upcoming elections.

I highly encourage all drivers to adhere to the new speed limits. We have many children, elders and families walking and playing in the streets. Please, Be Careful!

Thank you,

Thank you,

Roger Nopper Band Manager

Here we have attached the GNN Elder’s Centre (House) & Travel Policy. The North Island Elders Ni’nogad went very well. Thank you Donna Gault, Dawn, Rosaline for asking me to be a part of the planning committee. We had about 90 Elders from all over the Mount Waddington Region and an abundance amount of helpers/volunteers. This event was intended for the Elders to get together for a lunch and mingle. Then it turned into a full day event. We had to turn away some parties/businesses that wanted to make a presentation or speech. I look forward to the next one. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at the office during the hours of 8am4pm, Monday-Friday.
