The old 1913 Songjeong-yeok Market, which was originally known as the Maeil Songjeong Market, contains over a hundred years of history and is a must-see among Gwangju’s many historical sites. As a tribute to its long history, the founding year is written on the floor in front of each building. Today, the market is one of the most-visited places in the city – both by locals and travelers alike.
