Tuesday Night Discussion: “Election 2012: Religious Freedom” How do we approach life issues in this year’s election? Christa Lopiccolo, Executive Director, Department for Life Issues, Archdiocese of Washington will share her expertise in helping to form our consciences for voting.

Spots are filling up for this weekend of fun, faith, and food from Sept.21-23 at Deep Creek Lake, MD. Cost: $20 (almost free!).

To reserve your spot, drop your name and money off in the envelope on Amy’s office door (top floor of the Newman Center) by this Thursday, Sept. 18, by 12 noon.

Mass Buddy

As we encouraged you last year, it is a great thing to get a “Mass buddy” – someone who comes to Sunday Mass with you every week. It is very much a part of the “New Evangelization” of which Pope Benedict has called us all to be a part. Invite someone to Mass!

World Youth Day 2013 GW Catholics will be bringing a group to World Youth Day 2013! World Youth Day is an international gathering of young Catholics who meet with the Pope every 2-3 years. It began in 1984 when Pope John Paul II called the youth of the world to Rome. He was overwhelmed with the response and initiated World Youth Day. Over the years World Youth Day has been hosted by Argentina, Spain, Poland, USA, Philippines, France, Italy, Canada and Germany.The last World Youth Day was held in Madrid in 2011, where 1.5 million people attended the Papal Mass, and the next celebration will be in Rio de Janeiro in 2013.

During the week of July 21- 29, 2013, we'll join millions of other Catholic youth from around the world in Rio de Janiero, Brasil for a journey of faith, encounters with the Holy Father, and unforgettable adventures.

If you're interested in the trip, please attend a brief informational meeting at the Newman Center on Monday, September 17 at 7:00pm. At this meeting, you'll be given more details about the itinerary and payment schedules.

Each person attending the trip will be responsible for their own payments and fundraising.

Grad Student Bible Study Father Greg will lead a Bible Study for GW grad students every Monday from 9-10 pm at Newman starting on Mon., Sept 10. You don’t need to commit to coming every Monday; just come when you can.

Monday and Wednesday night Masses Fr Greg will begin offering Mass on Monday and Wednesday nights @ 10 pm, Newman chapel, every week. They will be daily Masses (i.e., doesn't count for Sunday.) Masses start the week of Sept. 10. Please join us!
