the GW Heart & Vascular Institute has made
remarkable progress expanding our accomplishments with a wide range of programs in community service, education, and research.
Community Service Honored by the president of Honduras, Drs. Tracy and Mercader conducted their 9th and 10th Annual Medical Missions to Honduras, treating a total of 1, 342 patients and implanting 370 devices, using over $3 million in donated medical equipment over the past decade. In Washington, DC, our faculty and fellows provided health screening at churches and high school athletic screening, as well as volunteering at Food & Friends. Our team addressed the social determinants of health with increased patient support by our GW Heart & Vascular Institute community health workers and nutritionist. We launched an innovative Culinary Medicine program engaging our community health workers and inner city families in hands-on heart-healthy cooking.
