LAWRENCEVILLE — Questions linger, but Gwinnett County law enforcement records released Monday reveal in more detail the robbery that left a man shot in the head last week at a Days Inn outside Stone Mountain.
Warrants for the three suspects identify Richard Anthony McKoy, a Richard Snellville Anthony resident McKoy who turned 19 on Nov. 18, as the gunman who wounded the
53-yearold victim by using a black and silver handgun last Tuesday. Thomas The other Nikay suspects Shatner are Thomas Nikay Shatner, 21, of Lawrenceville, and Reggie
Tequen Greene, 21, of Snellville. The trio remained in the Gwinnett Reggie jail without Tequen bond MonGreene day. Asked for an update on the victim’s condition, police
said they could give none. Last Tuesday, police said he was in “grave” condition. The victim had been staying at the Days Inn off U.S. Highway 78 with four other Hispanic men he works with for Ogeechee Steel Inc. out of North Carolina. They were in town for a job, police said. But why they were targeted isn’t clear.
A man listed in the police report as a Millen, Ga. resident also employed by the same company told officers the incident seemed to begin with a banging at the door of his room, Room 118. “As (he) opened the door, he stated the males showed a gun and he asked what they wanted,” the report says.

LAWRENCEVILLE — The worn down jalopy is ready for its closeup. The dented $3,000 2003 Chevrolet Impala with 155,000 miles, a leaky radiator, foggy headlights and a rattle in the driver’s door now looks ready for a spread in Popular Mechanics magazine. Thanks to a group of Maxwell High School of Technology students, the car was restored to have a spit shine paint job, new muffler, enhanced horsepower and shiny headlights. “We took a rough-looking Chevy Impala and then we turned it into this,” Central Gwinnett junior Layla PoncePena said. “Knowing that we all can accomplish that, I feel like I can accomplish some-

This week, they learned Maxwell took home first place over schools from Orlando, Fla., Charlotte, N.C., Chicago and New Jersey. “It was incredible,” Maxwell Principal Jeff Hall said. “Our teachers and students were ecstatic to hear the news. The results of the Gr8 Exchange on Transportation showed a sizable amount of support for mass transit in Gwinnett County, but county commission Chairwoman Charlotte Nash isn’t convinced that necessarily means support for MARTA. About 54 percent of respondents in the survey said they support a multi-modal transportation system that could include transit. Earlier this year, a Gwinnett Chamber survey indicated a majority of residents would support the idea of the county joining MARTA as well, but showed fewer people expressed enthusiasm about paying for it. But the question in Nash’s mind is whether those same people would be as likely to go to the polls to vote for MARTA
