The virus situation at Britt Elementary School has improved following a three-day weekend for students. But lingering effects kept 35 students home on Tuesday. Gwinnett County Public Schools’ Bernard Watson said that parents took the advice of district and health department officials to keep their children home if they showed sickness symptoms. The Gwinnett County Health Department has taken samples and is testing them, Watson said, but it appears that the combination of the three-day weekend and deep cleaning last week “allowed whatever was there to fade.” The Snellville school on Thursday reported 40 students absent, while 22 checked themselves out early and four teachers reported sickness. On Friday, 102 students were absent and 25 checked themselves out as sick.

And over the years, the pair has learned a thing or two. Toback travels from Marietta for the sale, which continues through Saturday, and plans ahead to have someone watch her son and daughter because she and her mom typically spend the whole day shopping. According to January, they tackle the sale one section at a time — first making a pass and then finding an out of the way spot to sort and narrow down their selections. “Because the aisles are so crowded, we get through one section and then we come sit down and go through them,”
