County and municipal officials will sit down on Tuesday to get the ball rolling on the process of putting together this year’s SPLOST referendum package. The SPLOST referendum had been expected, but the meetings are the first public movements made by county and city leaders to work together on the proposed tax package. The referendum is expected to go before voters this fall, likely as part of the Nov. 8 general election when turnout will be higher because of presidential, congressional and county races. “The meeting next Tuesday is being held to meet a mandated requirement in state law for calling a SPLOST referendum,” commission Chairwoman Charlotte Nash said. “I anticipate that we will talk about what SPLOST has helped the County and cities accomplish in the past and potential purposes for the upcoming program. “We will also discuss the proposed schedule for the steps required to call the referendum.” The commissioners will hold a SPLOST Citizens Review Committee meeting

Most arrived at 10 a.m. to claim their spot and get a taste of Margaritaville, the name of a Buffett classic and a carefree island lifestyle and state of mind. “We live the Jimmy Buffett lifestyle,” said Bob Mazzoni, of Clover, S.C. “I don’t know if it’s Jimmy’s music that causes us to live the lifestyle or if our
