A suspect accused of stabbing a 35-year-old Snellville man with a knife 17 times in an Oct. 9 bar fight in Lawrenceville was arrested Monday night, Gwinnett police said Wednesday. Viet Bach Dam, 20, of Chamblee was taken to jail after a traffic stop in Mobile, Ala., Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michelle Pihera said. Dam will be extradited to Gwinnett County, Pihera said. On Monday, Gwinnett police said they were searching for Dam who fled following the altercation behind Paradise Karaoke, Viet Bach Dam according to police reports. Police were called to the incident, which happened at 1455 Pleasant Hill Road in Lawrenceville at 3 a.m. Oct. 9. Officers arrived to find the victim in a restroom before he was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Detectives learned that the victim and the suspect knew each other because of a previous relationship connection with a woman. While at the bar, the men walked out of the back door and began to fight in the parking lot. The incident was captured on video surveillance. During the fight, the victim was stabbed multiple times, but police said he did not realize that he had been wounded until the two separated. It is still unclear what caused the dispute. The victim has checked out of the hospital and is recovering from his injuries, Washington said. Dam faces aggravated assault and aggravated battery charges.
