Parents are you looking for a wonderful way for your children to spend their summer vacation as well as prepare for the next school year all for a great low price and convenient hours?

A. You should take a look at Mount Olive Community Outreach Center because it has a wonderful 8 week program geared toward fun, education and excitement for ages 4-16 years of age. There are weekly field trips and super swimming days to cool off the hottest campers after a long week of activities. Each day is a new learning experience for campers because in addition to the 3 days of academic enrichment for the upcoming school year, campers are challenged with recreational sports like fundamentals of football, basketball basics, and drill team. There is also competition cheerleading, liturgical dance, and choir!!!

Q. Since Mount Olive has so many great things to offer, are they available only during summer months?

No, Mount Olive has worked hard to build a year round youth service program that is geared toward out of school time starting with The OASIS program, Olive After School Inspiring Success, is a tutorial service available for students and families enrolled in the Dougherty County School System. We serve a super snack and offer Homework Help Mon-Thurs from 2:30-5:30pm during the school year. Then there is also a camp available for almost every time the students have a school holiday including Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Break, and of course Summer Break. The fees are affordable for a full day of fun. All camp hours are 7:30am-5:30pm.

There is also the M.O.S.T which is Mount Olive’s Sports Team AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) boy’s 14 and under basketball team. This team is comprised of young boys from various schools from the Dougherty Country School System and surrounding counties. The intent of this program is to enforce positive influences, selfconfidence, self-esteem, and the ability to excel on and off the court. The M.O.S.T. program is dedicated to educate and motivate each member while encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship and fun through the spirit of basketball. This program allows these young men to travel abroad the East Coast of the United States of America to participate in various basketball tournaments and showcase their talent

Wilder’s World Opens Summer Camp Wilder’s World is an indoor play center for kids. We have 13 different inflatables to entertain all kids from the age of 1 year to 13 years. The countdown to summer is on and Albany Mall is the place for family fun this summer! Family Fun Nights at Albany Mall kick off Thursday, June 9 and will continue each Thursday evening through July 28. Each evening will feature a fun theme, complete with crafts, activities, and more for families to enjoy.

There is no cost for families to participate in Family Fun Nights.

Parents will simply need to register each night to receive an activity bracelet for each child. Families can then visit each station and enjoy the various activities.

Families will also be able to take advantage of food court specials, where kids can enjoy a free meal or treat with an adult purchase. A complete listing of the food court offers will be available at the Registration Table each night. To receive these special offers, families will just need to show the activity bracelet that their child receives at the Registration Table.

A recent aviary addition also gives visitors a closeup look at a wide variety of birds found in

the surrounding wetland habitat. The Flint RiverQuarium’s Imagination Theater presents films on a screen three stories tall.

In the 1920's Radium Springs had a hotel and spa that was visited by northern visitors. Radium Springs is the largest spring in the state of georgia, and 70,000 gallons of water per minute flow from the spring. It has a unique sapphire blue color and is named after the trace elements of radium that flow from the spring. In 2003 a flood destroyed the 1920's hotel. Today the springs have been

Visitors are often amazed when they visit “Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon.”

The massive gullies, as deep as 150 feet, were caused by poor farming practices during the 1800s. Hikers who explore the deepest canyons will usually find a thin layer of water along the trail, indication of the water table below. Colorful wildflowers, as well as the pink, orange, red and purple hues of the soft canyon soil, make a beautiful natural painting at this unique park.

The rare Plumleaf Azalea grows only in this region and blooms during July and August when most azaleas have lost their color.

The visitor center is closed, but the park is open daily.

Summer Family Fun at Chehaw Park Come visit Chehaw this summer and take advantage of all that nature’s playground has to offer you and your family! Summer is the time of the year when we enjoy the outdoors, so pack up the family for a day that is anything but ordinary and spend it in our backyard.

Chehaw has something for everyone, from our Wild Animal Park to BMX, there is an activity that is bound to spark your interest. We have multiple picnic shelters and tables throughout the park where you could enjoy a picnic lunch, or take the kids to one of southwest Georgia’s largest play parks. There are also multiple groomed bike trails along with a mile walking loop that winds through some of the most scenic areas the park. For the sports enthusiasts, we have a BMX track and an 18-hole disc golf course. And don’t forget about the Wild Animal Park with over 51 species of animals or the tent and RV camping grounds available for our guests that might want to stay a little longer.

Also available during the summer months are a variety of summer camps. Each camp lasts one week between May 30th and July 29th. Themes vary based on age brackets for children between 5-12 years of age and include the themes Zookeepers 101, Camp Zoovivor, Wacky Ones, Dinosaurs, and Holidays. We also have special one day mini camps every other Friday for animal lovers between the ages of 3 and 4, and have options for overnight campouts on select Fridays throughout the summer.
