GROUNDWORK CASE STUDY ff
Proposals involved complicated remodelling of both ‘Highway’ areas (carriageway and footpaths within highways jurisdiction) and ‘Off Highway’ areas (including reconfiguring gardens and boundaries) and creation of shared surfaces to allow access at all times.
ff
A co-ordinated ‘design palette’ was developed and applied to bespoke design solutions for in excess of 70+ cul de sacs and avenues, the external spaces to many of which were completely re-modelled.
ff
Critical to the success of the scheme was the utilisation of Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) principles. This allowed for the extensive use of permeable paving and soakaways and in some instances, attenuated connections to private drainage systems.
ff
Also critical was an intensive and structured programme of house to house consultation was undertaken involving a three stage approval and resident sign-off process. This also involved co-ordinated provision of plans to legal partners and solicitors who administered land transfers and easements between the housing trust and private owners to enable re-configuration of the landholdings.

“Sense of partnership and buy in to the success of the projects assigned to them has been superb. They also provided customer consultation services and again once the approach was agreed they have performed superbly. Financial estimating services in terms of scoping the programme, collating tender reports and cash flow forecasts were completely reliable”. Steve Fanning (Head of Regeneration) Southways Housing Trust
