ENTRIES:RULES: - Every exhibitor making entries for the show shall be deemed to have agreed to abide by these Rules and it is on this understanding only those entries are accepted. ENTRIES:- All entries must be made on the Society’s on-line entry system www.moretonshow.co.uk before the dates specified in the Schedule. CLOSE OF ENTRIES:- on-line entries may be closed at any time after the published date – please check website. RIGHT OF REFUSAL:- The Council reserves the right to refuse any entry. WITHDRAWAL OF CLASSES:- Except where British Show Jumping Rule 76.14 applies, in the event that there are less than six entries in any class at the date of closing, such class may be withdrawn, in which case the entrants will be advised, and their entry fees returned. Rule 76.14 may be applied where there are fewer than 4 starters. NOMINATION ENTRIES:- These will not be accepted. ESSENTIAL ACTION:- Exhibitors will comply with any directions or instructions given to them by the Society which the Society deems to be expedient. RESTRICTED LIABILITY:- In the event that a class or classes are cancelled by the Society (whether or not the Show takes place) then the maximum compensation due to an exhibitor will be a refund of the entry fee(s) paid by the exhibitor in respect of the class or classes that have been cancelled. QUALIFYING CLASSES:- Competitions qualifying for events organised by other bodies are offered in good faith on information provided by those bodies. No liability is accepted by this Society if those events take place in circumstances other than those originally stated or do not proceed. OWNERSHIP:- Exhibits in all classes must be the bona fide property of the exhibitors and all exhibits must have been the property of, and in the possession of, the exhibitors at the time of entry. Any person who has care and control of an exhibit on the Showground will be deemed to be the Agent of that exhibit’s owner for all purposes connected with that exhibit. ENTRY/STALLAGE AND PENNING FEES:SEE SPECIAL CONDITIONS:- Entry/stallage and penning fees must accompany entries. The entry/stallage and penning fee for any animal entered and not exhibited will be forfeited. Any additional costs incurred by the Society arising from non-clearance of a cheque must be paid by the exhibitor before he/she is allowed to compete. INTEREST:- Interest upon sums due to the Society under these Rules shall be payable at the rate of 3.5% above the base rate charged by Lloyds Bank from time to time and shall be payable commencing 14 days after the published date for the close of entries in the relevant section. PASSES:- See Special Regulations applying to the appropriate section. JUDGES:APPOINTMENT:- A list of Judges for the forthcoming Show shall be nominated by the Council. DEPUTY:- In the event of a Judge or Judges failing to attend on Show Day, the Secretary or Chief Steward may appoint a Deputy or Deputies. JUDGES’ INTEREST IN ENTRIES:- Exhibitors are particularly requested to note the name of the Judge appointed for the Classes they wish to enter, and are advised, in the interest of all concerned, not knowingly to enter an animal bred by, or that has been owned by, the Judge appointed. In cases where the Judge has a continuing business or financial relationship with an exhibitor, he/she should not judge the animal(s) entered by that exhibitor, whether or not the particular animal(s) form part of the business relationship. Where the Judge has had a past financial or breeding interest in a particular animal(s), he/she should not judge it. In the event of a Judge having an interest in any exhibit(s) then he/she shall first judge and place all other exhibits and an alternate Judge, if possible from the Breed panel, shall then place the exhibit(s) in question. The alternate Judge shall be nominated at the absolute discretion of the Society through the Chief Steward of the Section. STEWARDS:- An exhibitor cannot act as Steward in any class in which he/she has an entry. OBJECTIONS:- The decision of the Judges shall be final. Objections of any kind must be made in writing and delivered to the Secretary making clear that it is an objection which is being handed in. A deposit of £60 shall be paid with each objection which must be made within one hour of the Judge’s decision being given on the day of the Show; in the case of a joint objection a deposit shall be payable by each objector. Such objections will be considered by a panel of not less than three members of the Society appointed by the Chairman or Vice-Chairman

and their decision shall be final. Anonymity will not be available to any objector. The deposit may be forfeited at the discretion of the panel. SAFETY:- The Organisers of this Show have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organisers and all Officials and Stewards. It is a condition of entry that exhibitors conform to the requirements of the Society’s Safety Policy and of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and for ensuring that safe working practices are followed by themselves, their employees, Agents and Contractors. (See also Cattle Regulation on Cattle Handling). A full copy of our Health and Safety policy can be found on our website. UNRULY ANIMALS:- All animals must be controlled to the satisfaction of the Stewards who shall have power to exclude from the Showground any vicious or unruly animals. Animals with a previous record of unruly behaviour should not be brought to the Showground. LIABILITY:- The Council will not be responsible for any error which may appear in the Catalogue or for any entry being made in the wrong class, nor will the Council be held responsible for exhibits not arriving in time to be judged. The Council do not hold themselves responsible for any loss, injury or damage to any persons or exhibit at the Show, and it shall be a condition of entry that exhibitors hold the Society blameless and indemnify it against legal proceedings there from. CONDUCT:BEHAVIOUR:- In the event of a competitor, or anyone connected with a competitor, being guilty of improper or abusive behaviour towards his or her animal, any Official of the Society or the general public, the Chairman or Chief Steward shall have the power to order the offender to leave the Showground and recommend that the Council shall refuse that person’s entry for future Shows. Should an exhibitor be aggrieved at such action he/she may lodge an objection in writing. Such objections will be considered by a panel of not less than three members of the Society appointed by the Chairman or Vice-Chairman and their decision shall be final. ANIMAL HEALTH:If any exhibitor brings an animal to the Showground suffering from a contagious disease all his animals may be sent home and future entries from him may, by resolution of the Council, be refused. Unfit or diseased animals may be sent home. In any case concerning the health or well-being of an animal, the decision of the Society’s Veterinary Officer shall be final. The Society deplores the administration of substances not naturally occurring or abnormal quantities of natural substances to animals or humans intended to alter their behaviour in the ring (“doping”). Certain of the Societies to which the Show is affiliated, or under whose rules classes are held, set conditions regarding doping and dope testing and all entries in such classes are subject to those conditions. Any animal showing signs of infectious disease or appearing to be about to give birth or abort will be isolated until the Show Veterinary Surgeon (if necessary in consultation with the Divisional Veterinary Manager) permits its return to the farm of origin. PRIZES:- Prize cards will be given to all winners and prize money paid out in the Horse Secretary’s Tent. For late classes only please claim from the Show Office before 30th September. Prize money not claimed will be forfeited. Trophies must be left on the showground on show day. DATA STORAGE & PUBLICITY:- The rules & regulations in the schedules should be read, and when the exhibitor has ticked the consent box on the entry form, either paper or online, the Society will use the information as follows: Store, process and retain, including electronically, all data and persona information provided by exhibitors for the purposes of operating the Show, maintain appropriate records and communicating with exhibitor in future concerning any of the Societies activities. Information about exhibitors and their animals may also be provided to DEFRA, Trading Standards, County Council departments, BCMS, SAC, breed societies and others having regulatory functions as well as the Society’s veterinary, environmental health, legal and safety advisers. Publicise the names and home locations (Town & County only) of exhibitors in Show catalogue and on Society website. Information about results may also be published and/or provided to the press and breed societies for publication Photograph any exhibitor or other person on the Showground and store and use the resulting images for use in the Society publications, press and marketing; the Society will own the copyright of such images. CONTRACT:- The contract between an exhibitor and the Society shall be made at Moreton-in-Marsh. SPECIAL REGULATIONS:- applicable to any Section and any special class conditions shall be deemed to be part of these General Conditions. In the event of a conflict, then the Special Regulations shall prevail. LEGAL COMPLIANCE:- Exhibitors shall comply with all relevant Statutes and Regulations.

ENTRIES: - No horse may be entered in both a Hack and Hunter or Riding Horse Class. No Horse which has been nicked or docked may be shown. RESTICTED ENTRIES: - It may be necessary to restrict entries in any class if warranted; accordingly, entries may have to be accepted on a first come first served basis. AFFILIATION: - In any Class or Section which is affiliated to a Governing Body it shall be a condition of entry that exhibitors, whether or not members of that Body, shall comply with its Rules and will be liable to dope testing. TICKETS & PASSES: - Vehicles carrying horses/ponies ONLY will BE ADMITTED free. Vehicles other than horseboxes will not be admitted into the Horse Box Park – but can park for free in the Public Car Parks. Personnel not holding tickets will be charged normal prices at the pay on foot entrance gate. No tickets, passes or numbers will be sent out prior to the show unless you have ordered and paid for extra tickets, or you have ticked the box for owners who will be traveling separately. A copy of your booking entry form must be displayed on the dashboard to get your lorry into the Horse Lorry Park. Vehicles not towing a Horse Trailer will NOT be allowed in the Horse Lorry Park but can be parked in the Public Car Parks and enter on foot through the pay gates. NUMBERS: - can be printed off the system. SUBSTITUTION: - Substitution of animals in place of those already entered but unable to be exhibited is NOT allowed, except where BS rules permit. REFUND: - The entry fee for horses unable to be exhibited after entry owing to accident or illness will be refunded if written notification accompanied by a Vet’s Certificate is received before the Show (scan acceptable), except where British Show Jumping rules apply. Any levy which has been or is to be paid to Horse of the year Show, or any other organization will not be refunded. An administration fee will be charged. No refund will be made if the exhibit is found to be ineligible to compete, whether for want of registration or otherwise, nor if duplicate entries are made. No entry fees will be refunded should the exhibit be unable to attend the show due to any Animal Health Order issued by DEFRA. STYLE: - Horses must be ridden astride in all classes except Side Saddle. HARD HAT: - On the showground and for all classes, anyone riding a horse or pony must wear headgear to current BSI or European Safety Standard specification, or of a standard approved by the governing body of their respective horse or pony society. PRIZE MONEY: - Prize money will be paid out from the Horse Secretary’s Tent. For late classes only please claim from Show Office before 30th September. Prize money not claimed will be forfeited. All HOYS & ROR Championship prize money will be forfeited on failure to come forward to the Supreme. No trophies to be taken off the showground. They will be awarded and then given back to the Horse Ring Steward. Photographs of winner with the trophy will be available at no charge. SHOWING CLASSES: - Prizes may be withheld if in the opinion of the Judge the exhibits do not reach the standard required. The 4th and subsequent prizes will be withheld if less than 6 entries are forward. LOCAL CLASSES: - Are open to exhibitors residing or farming within the counties of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Any part of the exhibitor’s regular holding coming within the area entitles him to show. The words “regular holding” to mean Ownership, Tenancy or Lease. Show officials shall not be held responsible for acceptance of entries which may prove out of area. JUDGING: - If the judging of the number forward in a class may exceed the time allowed for that class, at the Judge’s discretion it is regretted that it may not always be possible for the Judge to ride each horse or for every competitor to be allowed an individual show. FALL: - If a rider falls off a horse in a class, the rider is not allowed to remount in the ring and the horse is eliminated from the class. No judge or steward has the authority to waive this rule. The rider is permitted to compete on other horses entered in the class, unless the medical services personnel or judges rule this unsafe. And the horse is permitted to compete in other classes in which the horse has been entered. TIMING: - Classes may commence at or after the published time. The Society will not be responsible for any loss where an exhibitor has made entries in more than one class and because of a time overrun it is not possible for him/her or the horse/pony to compete in one or more later classes. No claim for refund of fees paid or other loss, direct, indirect or consequential will be accepted or paid. LUNGING: - This is not permitted anywhere on showground. Anyone found lunging will be disqualified from their class and asked to leave the showground.

AMATEUR: - A person is an amateur for showing purposes, when showing ridden hunters in an amateur class, if he or she does not during the current or previous season 1) Engage in breeding, livery, buying, selling, dealing or hiring horses in a commercial capacity or as a means of deriving a main source of income 2) Receive remuneration whether it be monetary or goods in kind for employment in connection with horses in a racing, showing or livery stable or riding school (instruction at Pony Club and Riding Club excepted). This does not include the suppliers of ancillary services such as farriers and vets 3) Own/part own an equestrian establishment including but not limited to riding schools, events centre, stud or livery yard in any capacity, or receive any form of remuneration for employment at an equestrian establishment. For the avoidance of doubt for the purpose of this rule, immediate family members of an owner or part owner of an equestrian establishment who work or are howsoever otherwise engaged or involved in any capacity, whether or not for remuneration at the equestrian establishment, will be treated as being an owner or part owner of that equestrian establishment. 4) Show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm, or act as a Brand Ambassador In any showing classes BSHA or otherwise, or a horse for which his or her immediate family accepts livery or training charges from a person outside the immediate family concerned. A competitor is not eligible to compete in Amateur classes on an Exhibit, which has been ridden by a Professional Rider in any Open classes, BSHA or otherwise, with the exception of Open Working Show Horse and Side Saddle classes, during the current year, up to but not including the Royal International Horse Show. The above Rule does not apply, if the Horse has been Professionally Produced and only ridden by a Professional, during the current season, or if the horse has subsequently been sold and re-registered under new ownership. 5) On the day when an Exhibit is competing in Amateur classes, Professionals are not allowed to ride, to work-in (in any form), compete, or enter the Ring to groom/strip the horse. 6) Amateur Owner/rider: Amateur Owner/Rider. Open to Horses owned and ridden by an Amateur, (the Rider need not be the Owner of the Horse). This ruling will also apply to Amateurs who wish to compete in the Annual Amateur Points Awards. No Professional Producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the Horse. 7) Amateur Home Produced. Open to Horses, which are either stabled at home or in a D. I. Y. yard and which since 1st January in the current year, have not been shown by a Professional during the current season or stabled in a Professional yard at any time in the current year. To be ridden by an Amateur. This does not exclude Amateur Owner Home Produced riders having lessons at any time with an instructor, providing the Horse remains stabled at home. No Professional Producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the Horse. It Is hoped that competitors In Amateur classes will compete in these classes in the spirit for which they are intended. MOBILE PHONES:- The use of a mobile telephone is not permitted within the collecting and judging rings, nor at anytime whilst mounted. VACCINATIONS:- It is strongly recommended that all horses registered with the BSHA have Equine Influenza and Tetanus vaccinations. The requirement for the first 3 vaccinations is as follows: the first 2 vaccinations 21 – 92 days apart, a third booster between 150-215 days, and an annual booster vaccination within 365 days thereafter. No horse should enter competitions within 7 days of an EI vaccination. Foals should commence vaccinations at 6 months old. This Rule may be subject to change from guidance from the FEI/BEF and any changes will be notified via the Association’s website. The current FEI ruling is for a six monthly booster as opposed to annual; therefore it is recommended that you check with shows that fall under FEI regulation before entering e.g. Windsor, Hickstead, HOYS etc.

If the class is a qualifying class for RIHS in order for the qualification to be valid, application for full owner/rider membership and horse registration/overstamp must be received in the SHB(GB) office within 14 days.

HACK, COBS & RIDING HORSES Classes (11,12,13,14,15,20,21) are qualifiers for Horse of the Year Show. The first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. Classes 8 & 9 and Championship: This is a competition to select the qualifier for the Working Hunter Championship at Horse of the Year Show and only horses registered with the BSHA are eligible to enter. The highest placed unqualified horse within the top three of the Championship will qualify for Horse of the Year Show. DRAWN ORDER For registered horses to be ridden by Adult, Associate or Junior Members. The course for this competition comprises six vertical obstacles placed in a straight line with two non-jumping strides between each obstacle. In indoor arenas the first two obstacles may be placed on one straight line and the last four obstacles on a different straight line. The top element of each obstacle must be a pole. No obstacle may be set at a lower height than the obstacle preceding it. The competition is judged under Table A not against the clock with a time limit of two minutes. In the event of a disobedience, the competitor must restart the course at the obstacle where the error occurred but may make his/her approach at an angle from outside the space between the obstacles and is not required or allowed to take any of the previous obstacles again. If an obstacle is disturbed as the result of a disobedience, the procedure in Rule 251.4 must be applied, but no time penalty is incurred. In the event of equality of faults for first place there will be up to four successive jumps-off not against the clock. The first jump-off must be over all six obstacles, but the course may be reduced progressively for each further jump-off to a minimum of three obstacles by removing in succession first, second and third obstacles.

The Judge at his/her discretion may terminate the competition after the third jump-off. In the event of equality of faults in the final jump-off competitors are placed equal and divide the prize money. Competitors who withdraw from or retire during a jump-off are placed equal with those who are eliminated in the same jump-off (Rules 203, 204). The starting order for this class will be decided by a draw and the running order will be strictly adhered to. If a competitor is not ready to enter the arena when required, they may be eliminated at the discretion of the judges. The draw will be made by the judges in the show jumping arena by 12.30 pm at the latest. THE HAYMAN-JOYCE PAIRS RELAY CHALLENGE GRAND ARENA ENTRY FEE: £50 - £10 per team refund on return of bibs

RIDER QUALIFICATION 1. This is a team competition for two riders. 2. Riders must be 14 years of age or over on the day of the Show. 3. It is strongly recommended that riders wear a back protector 4. On the showground and for all classes, anyone riding a horse or pony must wear a correctly secured hat to current BSI or European Safety Standard specification. Any competitor seen not wearing correct headwear will not be allowed to compete. ENTRIES 5. All that is required by the closing date of entries is the name of the team(s). No details of rider or horse will be required at the time of entry. Details of actual team members and their horses will not be required until declarations to the Horse Secretary’s Tent at the Show between 9.00 am and one hour before the published start time on the day of the Show; riders and horse names must be produced at the time of declaration. Declarations must be made in person and entries are LIMITED to a total of SIXTEEN TEAMS. 6. No substitutions of horse or rider will be allowed after the close of declarations on the day of the Show. 7. Entries may be made ONLINE only. 8. Entries must include the Team name and the Team Organizer’s name, address and telephone numbers, including any mobile phone likely to be used on show day. 9. Payment of £50.00 PER TEAM A refund of £10 per team will be made in cash on show day, upon return of the number bibs to the Horse Secretary tent. Deposits will not be refunded to teams not forward, except in accordance with Rule 5. On-line entries only, payment by credit card or cheque.

PASSES 10. Vehicles carrying horses will be admitted free. Vehicles (other than horse boxes) must park in the public parking areas and personnel not holding passes will be charged normal prices at the gate. CLOSING DATE 11. Online entries taken until 27th August, or when class is full. Class restricted to 16 pairs. Entries will be taken on the day if class not already full. KNOCK OUT RULES 12. This competition will take place as a Baton Relay Knock Out Competition in which two teams each consisting of two competitors compete over separate courses simultaneously. The course will consist of fences at a maximum height of 3’ and a bridge mat must be crossed under control. 13. The draw will be made at the close of declarations and the drawn order will be displayed in the Collecting Ring shortly thereafter. 14. Both members of each team enter the arena together. 15. The start will be supervised by a separate judge. Choice of course will be decided between the two teams by the starting judge tossing a coin. 16. The first competitor from each team jumps to the opposite end of the ring from the start, back to the start. The whip must then be passed to the second member of the team whilst both competitors are behind the start line. He/she then jumps the course as before. Failure to pass the whip behind the start line incurs elimination of the team. 17. If the whip is dropped, the competitor must dismount (without penalty) recover the whip and remount before continuing his round or passing the whip to the next member of the team. Failure to do so will result in elimination. 18. Outside assistance is not allowed at any time. 19. Any fall will result in elimination of the Team. 20. First and second disobediences/refusals during the round are not penalised, except by the time lost. Third refusal will result in elimination of the Team. 21. A time penalty of 5 seconds will be given for any knock downs incurred during any round. 22. The winner from each pair of teams proceeds to the next round of the competition, until the final pair of competitors meet in the last round to decide the winner of the competition. Third place will be decided similarly by a jump from the losing semi-finalists. 23. In the event of equality between teams, one member of each team will jump again against each other. 24. In all other respects, competitors are required to adhere to the rules of the Show as set out in the Moreton-in-Marsh Show Schedule. Attention should be paid to rules on Hard Hats.
