HORSES
14. In relation to Equine Influenza ALL Equine classes including show stands equine displays or main ring at equine attractions or other competitions such as shoeing, the Dunster Show will be following the guidelines below which have been issued by the Association of Show and Agricultural Organisations of which the Dunster Show is a member.
15. We urge all owners to adhere to strict Bio security protocols and the following guidelines:
16. Horses should have been vaccinated within 12 months of the show to comply with the requirements of the primary course (1st vaccination and then 2nd vaccination between 21 - 92 days later), followed by the1st booster (150- 215 days) and all subsequent boosters. Horses may compete having received the primary course and prior to the first booster but not within seven days of receiving a vaccination dose.
17. In Foal mares that have already had vaccinations of primary Equine Influenza course should be vaccinated 4- 6 weeks before the foal is due to be born.
18. Foals should be vaccinated for Equine Influenza at six months to commence their primary course.
19. Vaccinations are subject to local risk assessment by the attending veterinarians.
20. PLEASE NOTE THAT NEITHER VACCINATION CERTIFICATES NOR PASSPORTS SHOULD BE SENT TO THE SHOW PRIOR TO THE EVENT. HOWEVER, RANDOM CHECKS MAY BE CARRIED OUT ON THE SHOWGROUND DURING THE SHOW.
21. CORRECTNESS OF ENTRY FORMS. Every exhibitor or competitor will be held entirely responsible for the correctness of their Entry Forms. In all respects incorrect particulars or information may lead to disqualification. Any animal, however, which as a result of, in the Judges’ opinion, a genuine mistake on the Entry Form, is entered in a class for which it is not eligible, may be shown in the class for which it would be eligible.
22. Judges’ interest in exhibits. Exhibitors are not permitted to enter any animals in any class which is to be judged by a person who has or has had a financial interest in the animals in the previous 3 years or which has stood in his/her stable during the same period. Stud fees are not considered to be financial gain. The onus of complying with this regulation rests entirely on the exhibitor.
23. Brood mares must be four years old or over.
24. All foals, which must accompany mares in the ring, must be at least three weeks old on the day of the show.

We are operating under the 20% rider weight guideline where the rider in full riding attire with full tack must be less than 20% of the animal’s bodyweight. This is based on a relatively fit, healthy animal, as an overweight animal is also a welfare concern.
