VENETSANOS WINERY

WINE TRIP PROGRAMME HALF DAY WINE TRIP

Our tour starts at 11 o'clock when we take the road in order to visit Estate Argyros. Argyros Estate, founded in 1903 by George Argyros, was transformed by his grandson, Yiannis into one of the largest estates on Santorini, with vineyards totaling 30 hectares today.

TASTE THE ARTISANAL WINES OF SANTORINI

After this captivating experience we continue our tour at the traditional village of Megalochori where the imposing Venetsanos Winery is situated, the first industrial winery on the island.

Now his son Mathew, the 4th generation of Argyros, has taken over management of the winery and continues the family’s long tradition in winemaking. Argyros Estate combines the ancient traditions of Santorini together with the latest in modern wine technology to produce some of the most highly awarded wines on the island. Their wines feature a wide variety of native grapes including, Assyrtiko, Athiri, Aidani, Mandilaria and Mavrotragano.

We will visit its museum area with the old personal Items, labels, photos and machinery that are still working and we will have the chance to admire its unique architecture and underground cellars, built Into the cliffs and overlooking the magnificent Caldera. Our experience will reach its peak with the tasting of four (4) of the winery's wines accompanied by Greek and local delicacies, while enjoying breathtaking views of the Caldera.

MORAITIS WINERY

WINE TRIP PROGRAMME HALF DAY WINE TRIP

We meet at 11.00 a.m. in order to visit the the Archaeological Museum of Paros. The museum was founded in 1960, when a large room was built next to the High School of Parikia, to house the antiquities which were until then kept in the cells of the Katapoliani monastery. A second room was built at the end of the 1960's and further extension work of the museum began only recently, in 1995.

DISCOVER THE UNIQUE CHARACTER OF PAROS TERROIR

After this unique travel back in the ancient times of the Cyclades we will head towards the winery of Moraitis family which was founded in 1910 by Manolis Moraitis. He cultivated his own vineyards, while he gathered and vinificated grapes from selected vineyards of the island.

It is considered to be one of the most important museums in Greece because of its exhibits, which were found in excavations on Paros and Antiparos. These findings date from the Neolithic period to early Christianity, and include: the Nike of Paros, Cycladic figurines, mosaics and many more.

There we will enjoy a tour to the winery's cellar and learn about the rare indigenous varieties of Paros island and we will taste its high quality wines that reveal the unique characteristics of Paros terroir! Our tour will end with a homemade lunch with traditional dishes from the delicious cycladic cuisine!
