Olympic events not only had environmental impact but affected the people of Rio de Janeiro. Events between 2009-2013 Olympic games affected 67,000 people to be displaced from their homes & relocated to a housing program called “Minha casa Minha vida” which translates to

“my home, my life.” The Olympics affected major cities such as Copacabana, Ipanema, Tijuca, Jacarepagua, and etc that are located in the blue circles. Removal of favelas were mainly from the South, Central, and the North Zone of Rio.
