Habatat’s August 2018 glass cruise that traveled along the coast of Europe was one of the most successful tours in the history of the gallery. The attendees boarded the Marinia luxury vessel from the Oceania Cruise line and traveled the countries of England, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Russia and Estonia. The participates visited the studios of many well-known and established artists including Ann Wolff, David Reekie, Colin Reid, Peter Bremers, Michael Behrens, Tobias Mohl, Claes Uvesten, Wilfried Grootens, Ivo Lill and many more. One of the highlights of the trip was a personal tour and meet and greet with glass royalty artist Bertil Vallien who welcomed the group to his studio and invited our group to an amazing casting demonstration. Habatat’s founder Ferdinand Hampson and wife Kathy hosted this educational and cultural tour that looked at the contemporary glass scene in the regions of the North Sea. The tour visited many new and exciting artists and studios and visited some of private glass collections along the way. The experience included many artists talks, demonstrations, museum and gallery tours - all from the comfort of the Oceania Cruise ship. Plan to attend the next glass tour that will visit Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna, Durnstein/Melk, Linz/Salzburg, Passau, Vilshoen/Frauenau, and Prague August of 2019. Attendees will cruise on the state-of-the-art cruise ship AmaManga from the AmaWaterways Cruise Line. We will visit many established and emerging artists and experience art exhibitions, gallery receptions, museum exhibitions, art schools and a private collection exclusive to the Habatat glass tour. Habatat would like to invite you to travel with us on this once in a life time glass adventure. Space is limited so contact Sue Weiner for more details and to sign up today. susan.weiner@avoyatravel.com 877.398.6220 or 623.376.6557

NEW FOR 2018
You are invited Habatat’s 47th Glass International
The Kimono Series The Ordinary and the Extraordinary
Put the dates in your phone today
Habatat is honored to offer an exclusive on the new Kimono Series by artist Marlene Rose. Marlene shares her thoughts on this exciting and fascinating new body of work.
May 2nd through the 4th of 2019
I was struck with wonder and amazement at the beauty of not just the Kimono itself, but the idea that here was the intersection of the aesthetic and the practical, the Celebratory and Every-day, where a simple garment, of unvarying basic construction, could reflect the passage of time, and mark and honor the doorways through which we pass in this theater of life.
Within one pattern, infinite variation. I interpreted these formal constraints of shape and form, and made them mine in that ever-changing material, solid yet translucent glass, bearer of the fleeting instant. Glass changes from moment to moment, as the viewer moves by, as the light changes. In a smallest scale, the Kimonos too reflect the passages and portals of life.
Habatat Galleries founder Ferdinand Hampson never envisioned the Annual Glass International reaching toward the fifty-year mark and to celebrate this achievement Habatat would be honored to invite you to the largest annual glass extravaganza in the world. The 47th Glass International Award Exhibition features an elaborate and stunning display of glass artworks from 100 artists from around the world. These artists will be offering their finest work and most will be attending the Glass VIP weekend that you 30 minutes from the DTW Airport are invited to. This weekend includes the world-famous MasterWorks auction as well as museum tours, demonstrations, exclusive home tours, dinners, parties, artist lectures and more. This is the glass event of the year and the Glass VIP weekend is not to be missed.
In each of this series of Kimonos there are the same seven pieces Invitations to the 47th will be sent out very soon so make sure to be on Habatat’s of glass, and from Kimono to Kimono the seven pieces vary only mailing list. Sarasota & St. Petersburg Habatat would love to see you on the West Coast of Florida for the 4th Annual Florida Glass Weekend! The American Art Collector magazine identified as the area as the “NEW ART GLASS MECCA” due to the growth in glass related experiences. This includes an increase in collections, museums, art centers, galleries artists living and working in the region. 2018’s Glass Weekend was a complete success as we attended the grand opening of the Coville-Kotler Pavilion as well as a personal tour of the Richard and Barbara Basch collection at the Ringling Museum of Art.
