EMBT ARCHITECTS I Research

EMBT Architects

He was born in February 12, 1955. He graduated from the Barcelona School of Architecture at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in 1978. he was a spanish architect from Barcelona. He was the spouse of Tagliabue. He valued experiential architecture and the interaction between interior and eterior of a construction. The Scottish Parliament Building in Edinburgh and the multistoried building for the Spanish gas company Gas Natural in Barcelona were completed after his death.

She was born in june 24, 1963. She is an Italian architect. She currently resides in Barcelona an works there. she has been a visiting professor at Harvard University, Columbia University and Barcelona ETSAB. She received the 2013 RIBA Jencks Award. she has made many contributions in the field of architecture and architecture theory.

Miralles Tagliabue EMBT is an international acknowledged architecture studio founded in 1994 by the association of Enric Miralles (1955-2000) and Benedetta Tagliabue in Barcelona. EMBT practices in architecture, interior design and facility planning includes a range of expertise ranging from educational and residential building to restoration of buildings and landscape architecture. The studio has expertise in public spaces in both Europe and China. They have a number of projects in China, Europe, Taiwan etc. They have maintaines Miralles approach to architecture as an experiential and explorative process.

LOCATION: Shanghai, China CLIENT: Fudan University DATE: 2011 STATUS: completed this year TYPOLOGY: Educational , Landscape There is a main campus and two other campuses located far from it. EMBT focused on creating a connection between them by emphasizing identity of FUDAN and its contemporary life. The volumes establish connections to the adjacent buildings and surrounding context. The central green spine will aid in creating an urban mixture. There are directing point afetr the entance that leads to the central spine. The new construction will help revive public life in the area. The campus is expected to have about 8000 people at peak hours. The project aso provides continuous circulation with bridges to allow for a smooth transportation for its students.
