HABIB UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE EXAMINATION Habib University uses two tests to assess students’ ability to undertake University-level studies – the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) and the Science and Engineering Examination (SEE). While very important, these are not pass/fail, high-stakes tests. Results of the test are just one of the important tools used to assess our applicants for admission to Habib University. The entrance examination has the following characteristics: • It is administered online • It is a multiple-choice test (except for the essay section) • It is not timed • It adapts to your level of ability

Common Entrance Exam (CEE)

CEE is a computer-based standardized test from College Board, the world leader in student assessment. The CEE assesses your English reading and sentence-formation skills, your ability to express your thoughts in writing, and competence in basic Mathematics and Algebra. It is mandatory for all applicants, except those who have been exempted from Habib University’s Common Entrance Examination.

Science and Engineering Examination (SEE)

Applicants for the School of Science and Engineering also take the Science and Engineering Examination besides the CEE. The SEE is designed to test applicants’ competence in advance Mathematics studied at the A Level or HSSC level. Pre-medical students or students form General Science background who have not studied Math will not be required to take this test. However; they will be required to attend a special Mathematics Program to build their capacity to deal with Mathematics in their undergraduate course.

Visit http://habib.edu.pk/prospective-students/admissions/entrance-examination/ to get further information about the entrance tests and to download test samples.

EXEMPTION FROM THE HABIB UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

• There are two possible ways to get an exemption from the HU Entrance Examination. You may select one as per your planning and performance.

SAT Based Exemptions

• You may be exempted from the Habib University Common Entrance Examination if you have taken the SAT I and scored 1800 or above. • If you are applying for the School of Science and Engineering, you can also petition for an exemption from the Habib University Science and Engineering Examination if you have taken SAT II Mathematics and have scored around 600. • You should submit your SAT scores using SAT score code 7344 as per the timelines mentioned in the admission schedule http://habib.edu.pk/prospective-students/admissions/. Please remember to send your SAT score to admissions@habib.edu.pk as well. • Please ensure you send the scores of both SATs well before the Habib University Entrance Exam.

High Grade Based Exemption

This option is applicable only for the students of Cambridge International Examination (CIE) and Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB). • AKU-EB students can get exemption if their average SSC & HSSC score is 85% or above. Those students who have not completed HSSC, can use their HSSC I marks. • CIE students can get an exemption if their average score in eleven subjects of O & A levels is 85% or above and no grade is lower than a B. General Paper is not included in eleven subjects and electives in O and A Levels should be the most relevant to the program applying at HU. Those who have not yet completed their A level exams can use their As grades. • Visit http://habib.edu.pk/prospective-students/admissions/exemptions/ to learn more about exemptions • If you apply for exemption based on grades, you need to send us the scanned copies of your O & A level or SSC/HSSC transcripts with a request for the test exemption at admissions@habib.edu.pk.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID Distinguished Yohsin Scholarships are full scholarships and are awarded irrespective of applicants’ financial needs. Based solely on merit, these scholarships are meant for exceptional students only. Because these scholarships are one of the highest honors accorded to incoming students, they are highly competitive.

Habib Merit Scholarships

To ensure equal opportunities for all prospective students, Habib University offers unmatched scholarships and financial aid to fully and partially support students in pursuing their four-year degrees at Habib University. Habib University’s leadership has made a strong commitment to meeting the demonstrated need of students admitted to the university and, in our view, a student’s ability to pay for tuition should not impede him or her from pursuing a higher education. Qualified students are encouraged to apply for Habib University’s scholarship and financial aid packages as soon as they complete their admissions application.

Distinguished Yohsin Scholarships These scholarships are also awarded based on merit. These cover from 20% to up to 80% of all tuition costs. In order to be considered eligible for merit scholarships, an application form must be completed and submitted soon after the Admissions Application is submitted.

Habib University’s commitment to cover the demonstrated financial need of students is ensured through a very strong need-based Financial Aid Program. This program includes the following types of financial aid: Deferred Fee Plan: HU has designed a special Deferred Fee Plan to facilitate the students to pay some part of their university fee after completing their undergraduate education from HU. It allows students to pay for their higher education from their own earnings and demonstrate their personal responsibility towards their education and growth. The Deferred Fee Plan is not governed by any ‘loan policy’ as it is not a loan. It is a form of facilitation provided to students and their families to pay the university fee over an extended time period instead of paying the required fee during the four years of undergraduate studies. No interest is applied on re-payment amount. Other than the deferred fee amount, an additional 3% administrative charge is applied per annum. Grants: These are need-based funds that are awarded based on the students’ demonstrated financial needs. Grants are subject to an annual review of a student’s financial circumstances and do not need to be repaid.

How Financial AID Is Packaged
