Building Families a Future Habitat Greater San Francisco’s heart is in homebuilding. We build affordable homes for working families earning between 40-80 percent of area median income. Our mission is about building and sustaining homeownership opportunities, to drive housing equity and create generational wealth equity for those families who have historically been excluded. We deliver on that mission through the construction of affordable homes, preserving homeownership, and advocacy.
AFFORDABLE HOMEBUILDING Recently, construction was completed on 20 new, affordable homes in Redwood City, and another 6 townhomes in Daly City. Our latest construction project is a development in San Francisco that will bring 8 affordable homes to the Diamond Heights district of the city. Looking further forward, we have several projects in our pipeline, with plans to build 250 more homes for ownership by 2027.
HOME PRESERVATION In 2020, we celebrated the milestone of our 200th critical home repair. We have big plans ahead to make 400 critical repairs by 2027. Our home preservation program helps low income families, who can no longer afford the upkeep on their homes. Through home preservation not only can they stay in their beloved communities, but they retain this vital asset to pass along to the next generation.
ADVOCACY Habitat GSF and our community partners strongly advocate for affordable homeownership and housing. We promote affordable homebuilding and champion affordable homeownership in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin. By removing barriers to creating more affordable housing, we are making California stronger, and it all starts right here, in the Bay Area.
