CONSTRUCTION

FAMILIES AND VOLUNTEERS

• In 2013 the Sisters Habitat volunteer construction team built two Energy Star certified homes which were purchased by the Heiden- Smith and Casanova families. To date Sisters Habitat has provided homeownership opportumity to 52 families.

• 2 new homeowner families were selected and 4 families are currently working on sweat equity. One family was selected for the new repair program.

• Three homes were repaired as part of Sisters Habitat’s new Home Repair Program. Major repairs were done to the Trowbridge and Sparks homes and a minor repair to the Sproat home.

• 7 partner families participated in financial education classes.

• Students from Oregon Institute of Technology and Sisters High School helped with the repair of the Trowbridge home during Spring Break. • The second annual Women Build Week was held in May of 2013. More than 40 women participated by framing the Casanova home and landscaping the Heiden-Smith home.

• 5 homeowner families participated in “Creation Vacation,” a partnership with the United Methodist Camp, the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration and Sisters Habitat… allowing families to spend four days at camp together participating in a variety of activities. • 30 new volunteers joined Sisters Habitat this year. • Approximately 250 volunteers help Habitat in the Thrift Store, ReStore, on the construction sites and served on the board and on various committees. • The 5th Annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic was held in August in which 5 additional people were r ecognized for contributing more than 1000 hours o f service to Sisters Habitat. There are now a total of 82 volunteers in the 1000 Hour Club.


MONEY MATTERS • 88 cents of every dollar raised for Sisters Habitat went toward the store and building programs.

Income FY 2013 Thrift Store ReStore Mortgage Payments

• Habitat Homeowners paid $62,898 in p roperty taxes to Deschutes County. •

Habitat Homeowners paid $127,306 in m ortgage payments which go toward b uilding more homes.

Donations Grants Events

Expense FY 2013

• A $15,000 grant was received from Home Depot Foundation to help with the Trowbridge Repair. • A $5,000 grant was received from Lowe’s to help with the Casanova family Women Build Week. • A $2,500 grant was awarded by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for the Sproat home repair. • The 4th Annual Recycle Run raised $1,500. • Sisters Habitat contributed $19,963 to Habitat for Humanity Nepal as part of the international tithe program. To date, Sisters Habitat has provided funding for 83 homes abroad. • Sisters Habitat has a 0% foreclosure rate.

Thrift Store • Celebrated its 20 Year Anniverary! • Contributed $130,745 to Sisters Habitat. • Hosted the 14th Annual Christmas Shopping Day for low-income students. • 150 people volunteered nearly 9,000 hours in the Thrift Store. • Contributed clothing and household items to 24 families in need as referred by the Family Access Network (FAN). • Donated 21,978 pounds (814 bags) of coats, blankets and shoes to Bethlehem Inn homeless shelter in Bend. • Donated 127 pounds of books to prisons through the non-profit, Gorilla Gospel. • Donated 22,450 pounds of shoes to the Shoeman Water Projects, helping provide clean water to developing countries. • Donated 72,468 pounds (2,686 bags) of surplus clothing to rural Oregon towns and Indian Reservations.

ReStore • Contributed $77,000 to Sisters Habitat. • 26 people volunteered nearly 3,000 hours in the ReStore. • Kept 810,000 lbs. of recyclables out of the landfill. • Raised $3,949 by recycling metal. • Contributed items to 9 families in need as referred by the Family Access Network (FAN). • Gave out over 30 sleeping bags and tents to homeless people. • Donated sports equipment to Black Butte School.

MISSION STATEMENT Sisters Habitat for Humanity, a faith-based, non-profit o rganization, recruits and leads a diverse and dedicated corps of volunteers to build and/or r enovate affordable homes for qualified individuals. Funds to accomplish this mission are generated through mortgages, Thrift/ReStore operations, donations, grants and f und raising activities.
