I would like to welcome all players, staff and parents to the Under 9 Football Festival.
As we watch the pupils play their games, it is important to remember that fun is the agenda of the day and encourage them to play with freedom, a philosophy backed by the FA and Gareth Southgate:
“Enjoyment is central to football, particularly for children. While some set out on the pathway to becoming a professional, the vast majority play the game for fun. It’s important that everybody involved in the sport helps maintain a positive environment that allows children to play freely.”
There will be awards handed out at the end of the tournament, including one for the overall winning team, Players of the Day, an overall Player of the Day and a Sportsmanship trophy.
We hope that you have a fantastic morning; don’t forget to encourage the teams throughout the tournament!

• Games will be 10 minutes
• No half time
• Seven-a-side
• Retreat lines applies
• Three points for a win
• One point for a draw
• Nil points for a loss
• If points are equal after group stages, positions will be decided in the following order: goal difference, goals scored, match result and coin toss.

School minibuses and parents in cars can park in the coach park, accessed via Aldenham Road. The tournament will take place on the main pitches adjacent to the coach park.
Each school will be allocated a changing room in the Penne’s changing facility, where the central scoring, refreshments and first aid are found.
