Last year, I was fortunate to be accepted in the annual membership application of Ang INK (Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan). The newly accepted members were tasked to create a batch project. For us the 2020 Batch named PandemINK, we had planned to create an anthology of stories of Filipino children with their experiences in the pandemic;

“Stories behind the face mask”

as it quoted. I was part of the promotions committee and was tasked to be a part of helping create the branding that would be applied to the visual contents for social media. I’ve created the spot illustrations and a part of the social media posts for my part.

In the anthology itself, I’ve submitted a story and artwork, titled “Bea can be”. It was also my first digitally published story. The story revolves around my cousin’s daughter, Bea, as she tries to be everything she wants to be during play pretend; turning into different

characters while trying to stay at home and overcome the challenges of fighting a virus. Wear your masks! Wash — your hands! Stay healthy!

#ArtistsforArroceros is an organization founded to help Arroceros Forest Park in terms of its branding and social media identity, merchandise, and visual content with “The Arroceros Guidebook” as its main project. This initiative was a pitch made together with my creative colleague Sean Eidder Reynon in our Social Design Class in college. Even after the project’s intended run for the term, we extended it to be an actual campaign because we’ve seen the objective benefit it would do for the park. Our initiative also aims to

collaborate with other people with different specializations like research, history, aviary, botany, zoology, graphic design, illustration, and layout to build the proposed book; to quote our slogan,

“Let’s collaborate a forest”.

In this collaboration, I’ve helped in brainstorming for its overall branding. I’ve also made the illustrations and some

pubmats for the campaign. We’ve based the motifs and the branding on eco-conscious printing methods like risograph printing, and the organic art technique of collage. Currently, the visual content and merchandise are still in their prototype phase. We hope to continue this project again by 2022.

Pablo Ocampo Collective is an online Discord server founded by my creative colleague Leslie Tortal in July 2021. The aim of this project is for Benildean students to generate an online community where inclusivity, knowledge, and exuberance are fostered and shared amongst students. The server is also open to students from other schools as well. One of its main events is the

virtual hangout where different creatives join in for different topics and discussions related to their field. There are already 130 members on the server, including Benildean alumni and other students from different universities in the region. For this initiative, I created the branding identity and promotional assets that would be seen primarily of Gen Z

Above, 1st column: Teasers for POC’s introduction Above, 2nd column: Pubmats for POC’s virtual hangouts Above, 3rd column: Cover photo for POC creatives. With that in mind, I’ve used contemporary and pop culture elements and styles that are maximalist and modern in nature with the use of memes and collages applied on eccentric layouts.

Ryori Ken!

Ryori Ken is a Japanese sushi takeout store located in Santa Lucia, Ilocos Sur. I was commissioned by the owner and also my cousin, Kennedy Haban, to create the branding identity of the store. A sushi takeout store is relevantly still fresh and new for a place like the provinces. To extend a more inviting attitude with the publicity materials towards the locals, I incorporated Ilocano text for some of the phrases that were used.

“Sushi iti ili!”

,which means, “The town’s sushi!”. The different elements I used in the assets takes inspiration from the design of common Japanese visuals like Shinjuku’s neon lights sign board, the manga’s strokes and print patterns, and the use of the Japanese writing system. WearKahel is a curated vintage and upcycled online clothing store that was founded by my cousin, Angelica De La Cruz, and me in January 2020. For this collaboration, I was tasked to create the branding and online identity of WearKahel. With that, I have made visual content for a total of 16 collection

releases featuring each of a collection’s cover, line-up, and advertisements. I’ve also made visual assets for different interest-based contents like playlists and newsletters that were related to the collection of the brand. These were all posted on the store’s Instagram, @wearkahel.

"Uhaw? Basa? Nag-iinit? Ti-Gang!” Ti-Gang! (Thirsty Gang!) is an art merchandise collaboration with fellow artist Sabina Quizon (SABI). The main merchandises are illustrations that could be bought in the form of postcards and stickers. The theme of the illustrations are inspired by the 1970s, the decade of the rise of sexual liberation, and also the

prominence of Filipino komiks. The illustrations are set in local Filipino scenarios with its concept relying on adult and cheeky Pinoy humor. Graphic teasers for its release were also made with the same explicit humor.

18 About Habunny habunnyart

“Ako naman, cute lang.”

Habunny “Habunny is a bunny composed of a kiat-kiat as their head, stacked on an orange as their body. Habunny’s a manifestation of me if I was more outspoken. Sometimes they’re in rage, but sometimes, soft. Sometimes they’re passionate, but sometimes, insecure. But most of the time, they’re trying. They can be described by a lot of adjectives because they’re a lot! I mean, they’re a lot of things.”
