Philanthropic Opportunities
Prior to this day, Lucy’s 3 month old son was in great distress. He was listless with eyes rolling back into his head. Little Jacob was taken to Cardon Children’s Medical Center for emergency care. After being stabilized, he was transferred to Hacienda Children’s Hospital to complete the slow process of healing and gaining weight. Jacob was born with an autoimmune disorder that kept him from absorbing the nutrients from the food he was being fed. His mother, also recovering from surgery after giving birth to him, had her own doctors’ appointments to keep. Our loving nurses took care of Jacob around the clock with tight feeding schedules while Mom visited her doctors. Lucy was able to sleep on a comfortable pullout bed in a spacious room alongside Jacob. With a place to rest like home, Lucy was educated by our nurses on Jacob’s fragile condition and given hands-on training on how to care for him once he was ready to go home. Today, Lucy and Jacob continue to thrive at home.
Mariasofia was born into this world as a very fragile baby. This beautiful twoyear-old little girl was diagnosed at birth with DiGeorge syndrome, a very rare congenital disease with symptoms that vary greatly among individuals. When she came to us she was riddled with issues in her heart and lungs, and was technology-dependent on a ventilator and feeding-tube. After a few short months of treatment and therapy, she was taken off her ventilator and began to breathe like a typical, healthy baby. She progressed from just a few minutes to a few hours of breathing on her own - a tremendous accomplishment that most people thought would never happen! With each breath her personality blossomed, giggling and babbling to her nurses. She’s a special life in which our specialized care made a big difference.

exceptional children’s care, in an exceptional children’s hospital Hacienda Children’s Hospital is Arizona’s newest children’s hospital. It joins Hacienda HealthCare’s Los Niños Hospital in Phoenix as the State’s second, free-standing, nontertiary care children’s hospital. The exterior architecture evokes a sense of organic movement, with sails providing shade and walls shaped like waves. The structure is small, intimate, playful, and inviting, making it a one-of-a-kind children’s hospital. No detail was overlooked when creating the environments in each wing. Each room has themed floor accents, ceiling designs, and colors and texture that complement one of the four themes: jungle, circus, playground and sky. Once a child is referred to Hacienda Children’s Hospital, an excellent team of physicians, nurses and respiratory, physical, occupational and speech therapists will be ready to provide the highest standard of care.
