Help Your Child Develop The Super Skills Through Coding Proponents of computer programming for kids as a subject in schools claim that learning coding not only helps kids clear their STEM concepts, but also improves their writing abilities by encouraging them to be more innovative and imaginative. A writer has words and sentences at his disposal, while a coder has more resources like pictures and videos as well. Coding is also full of logic, just like storytelling his. It encourages kids to think out of the box for solutions by applying everything that they understand about the problem. One needs to fill in the gaps and be innovating in one’s approach to everything. Coding is the new medium for imaginative storytelling. Here’s how it works: there are a bunch of story-based games that are used by teachers while teaching kids how to code. This involves creating and narrating their own stories, often making them write, code and craft stories at the same time. Learning coding also helps kids develop planning and organisation skills. Kids won’t be able to tell chaos from organisation unless they are taught it in detail, personally. Before starting to code, they need to be clear about their objective and the limitation of resources at their end. This gets their brain juices to flow, and what starts at mere amateur attempts at getting things right can quickly become coming up with great solutions and recognising and solving problems. Of course, none of this can be done without your help and guidance, which we advice you should make available in plenty. This leads to kids becoming better writers and storytellers in the long run, and these are skills that are very essential to impart especially in an early learning centre. It’s like they say - kids are like sponges, and they pick up skills and knowledge very quickly at a young age and go on to retain them throughout their lives. Let’s talk about kidpreneurs now - some kids shine on early in their life. But the real reason behind this is that they have got the right lessons and exposure at an early age. A lot of centres which teach coding, also have entrepreneurship lessons customised for kids.

There are a lot of activities that can be done to drive home these lessons to kids. You can encourage them to put up a lemonade stand at a certain location and help them craft their sales pitch and calculate the money. You can use some board games to teach them how stocks work and drive home basic financial literacy at a very early age. There are also a lot of fun simulation games available online that will do the work effectively. Reading books is another way in which you can drive home a lot of education and exposure to kids. It can start with something as basic as reading books out aloud to them at bedtime. Kids will genuinely develop curiosity for them, and this will draw them more and more towards reading.
