HISPANIC ASSOCIATION ON CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY

ABOUT THE APPENDICES HACR published its first report on corporate governance in 1993 to bring attention to the importance of Hispanic inclusion at all levels of Corporate America. This year marks the twentieth year that HACR has collected data on Hispanics’ service on the boards of the largest companies in America. These appendices recognize all Hispanics serving as corporate directors and highlight the companies that have Hispanic directors and those with multiple directors. We hope to encourage the other 348 Fortune 500 companies to include Hispanics on their board. We have also highlighted the companies who have Hispanic Chief Executive Officers and commend them for recognizing the importance of diversifying the C-Suite. The appendices include a listing of Hispanic CEO’s in the Fortune 500, an alphabetical listing of the Hispanic directors, the Hispanic directors listed by company name, a listing of individuals on multiple boards, companies with multiple Hispanic directors, and listings of the 2013 Fortune 500 alphabetically, by rank, by state, and by industry.

ABOUT THE HACR RESEARCH INSTITUTE The HACR Research Institute (HRI) is the research arm of HACR and is devoted to objective research, analysis, and publication of Hispanic-related issues in Corporate America. The institute focuses its research on Employment, Procurement, Philanthropy, and Governance. The goal of the HRI is to assess current trends and stimulate discussion on Hispanic inclusion in Corporate America. Through the HRI, HACR publishes annual studies on the state of the Hispanic community and corporate best practices in Employment, Procurement, Philanthropy, and Governance along with the HACR Corporate Inclusion Index. The research institute also publishes the Corporate Governance study, and other independent studies conducted internally and through partnership with other leading advocacy organizations. By providing information on the status of Hispanics in Corporate America, HACR can focus on issues relevant to Hispanics and investigate solutions to the inequity that exists.

2013 HACR CORPORATE GOVERNANCE STUDY

HISPANIC CEOs IN THE FORTUNE 500 Since 1981, when Roberto Goizueta became the first Hispanic CEO in the Fortune 500, we have seen an increase in the number of Hispanics serving as CEOs. Over the last 20 years we have seen that number increase from one at the time of HACR’s first census in 1993 to 10 in 2013 and while that represents a significant increase, that number represents only two percent of the CEOs in the Fortune 500. Although Hispanics continue to be underrepresented at the highest levels of Corporate America, it is necessary to recognize the commitment that those 10 companies have made to embrace Hispanic inclusion in the pursuit of their goals. Below we highlight the 10 companies with Hispanic CEOs.

George Paz Express Scripts Holding Company #24 George Paz is president, chairman and CEO of Express Scripts Holding Company. He joined Express Scripts in 1998 as senior vice president and chief financial officer and was elected as president in October in 2003. He assumed the role of CEO in April 2005 and has served as chairman of the board since 2006.

Andrés Gluski The AES Corporation #153

Andrés R. Gluski was named director, president and CEO of AES in September 2011. Prior to his current position, Mr. Gluski served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of AES from 2007 to 2011. Mr. Gluski is a graduate of Wake Forest University and holds an MA and a PhD in Economics from the University of Virginia.

Josue Robles Jr. The United Services Automobile Association (USAA) #139 Josue “Joe” Robles is president and chief executive officer of USAA, Robles was a USAA board member from 1990 to 1994 while on active duty. He was named CFO and controller in September 1994, and added corporate treasurer to his responsibilities in 1995. He assumed the position of president and CEO in 2007.

Antonio Urcelay Toys “R” Us, Inc. #204 Antonio Urcelay was made interim CEO in May 2013 and subsequently appointed chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Toys“R”Us, Inc. in October 2013. Mr. Urcelay’s 30 years of retail and consumer goods experience includes an accomplished 17-year career with Toys“R”Us. Mr. Urcelay earned his JD from the Complutense University of Madrid.

Joseph Alvarado Commercial Metals Company #335 Joseph Alvarado is president, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Commercial Metals Company. Alvarado previously served as president and chief operating officer of Commercial Metals, as president of U.S. Tubular Products, Inc., and also as president of Lone Star Technologies, prior to its acquisition by U.S. Steel.

Paul J. Diaz Kindred Healthcare Incorporated #410 Paul J. Diaz is currently chief executive officer of Kindred Healthcare, Inc., Mr. Diaz is an attorney and accountant who earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting from American University’s Kogod School of Business and a law degree from Georgetown University.

J. Paul Raines is the chief executive officer of GameStop. Mr. Raines has led the transformation of GameStop into the leading multichannel player in video gaming-building online platforms, download and streaming technologies, and maintaining world-class retail store operation.

Carlos Rodriguez was named president and chief executive officer of ADP in November 2011. He has been with ADP since 1999, most recently as president and chief operating officer since May 2011, and previously as president of National Account Services and Employer Services International.

Robert E. Sanchez Ryder System, Inc. #404 Robert E. Sanchez is chairman and chief executive officer of Ryder System, Inc. Mr. Sanchez has served in senior executive leadership positions in operations, finance, and information technology. Mr. Sanchez earned his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

J. Mario Molina Molina Healthcare Inc. #423 J. Mario Molina, MD, is president and chief executive officer of Molina Healthcare Inc. Over the last 25 years, Dr. Molina has served in various capacities at Molina Healthcare Inc. Dr. Molina received his degree from the University of Southern California and performed his internship and residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
