What is a Post-it No “a post-it note (or sticky note) is a piece of stationery with a re-adherable strip of adhesive on the back, designed for temporarily attaching notes to documents and other surfaces. although now available in a wide range of colors, shapes, and sizes, post-it notes are most commonly a 3 -inch (76 mm) square, canary yellow in color. a unique low-tack adhesive allows the notes to be esily attached and removed without leaving marks or residue.” 1 "post-it notes took off because they met an unarticulated need," says holmes. "people needed it, but didn't know it at the time. they know it now." logo means : four-packs of post- it yellow canary notes .

ote? The origins of the Post-it note are quite interesting In 1968, Dr. Spencer Silver, a chemist at “ 3M ” 2 in the United states, was attempting to develop a super-strong dhesive, but instead he accidentally created a "low-tack", reusable, pressure-sensitive adhesive. In 1974, a colleague of his, Art Fry, who had attended one of Silver's seminars, came up with the idea of using the adhesive to anchor his bookmark in his hymnbook. Fry then developed the idea by taking advantage of 3M's officially sanctioned "permitted bootlegging" policy. 3M launched the product in stores in 1977 in four cities under the name "Press 'n Peel", but its results were disappointing. in 1978, 3M issued free samples to residents of Boise, Idaho, and 94 % of the people who tried them said that they would buy the product. in1980 the product debuted in US stores as "Post-It Notes". In 1981, Post-its were launched in Canada and Europe. In 2003, the company came out with Post-it Brand Super Sticky notes, with a stronger glue that adheres better to vertical and non-smooth surfaces. The yellow color was chosen by accident; a lab next-door to the Post-it team had scrap yellow paper, which the team initially used .The company continues to produce the classic Post-it note, which comes in a small convenient size and a striking lemon yellow color.
According to 3M, there are eight standard sizes of Post-it notes, which come in 25 shapes and 62 colors. Clearly, the company capitalized on the success of the brand, with a far reaching assortment of products aimed at different users from college students to environmental activists.“The Post-it® note has become such a part of American society that the notes have been even been elevated to the level of art. Using multi colored Post-it notes, artists have produced huge murals, sculptures, and an assortment of other pieces. Post-it® pranks are also widespread, especially in offices; many of these pranks involve using mass numbers of the cheap notes to cover offices, homes, or even cars. ” 3

Use in art I was simply amazed. The super-sticky notes were displayed in many places as art works that it was displayed in the Grand Central Terminal's Vanderbilt Hall. The artwork was picked through a student competition. They got to have their artwork displayed on the world's largest billboard made of Post-it Notes, really Impressive. However, this isn't the first time that art has been madeout of Post-it Notes. I remember seeing a wall covered with post-it even a car , an office in a cool designs . Now that was pretty cool but not as impressive as the Post-it campaign. “In 2004, Paola Antonelli, a curator of architecture and design, included Post-it notes in a show entitled "Humble Masterpieces". Rebecca Murtaugh is a California artist who uses Post it notes in her artwork; in 2001, she created an installation by covering her whole bedroom with $1000 worth of the notes, using the ordinary yellow for objects she saw as having less value and neon colors for more important objects, such as the bed. Since 2002, Jésica López of Monterrey, Mexico, has been painting series of figures and portraits with acrylic on Post-it notes to depict, for instance, the faces of the "101 most powerful women" identified in the Forbes list of 2006. Some artists create entire murals of colored Post-it notes. In 2000 the 20th anniversary of Post-it notes was celebrated by having artists create artworks on the notes. One such work, by the artist R. B. Kitaj, sold for £640 in an auction, making it the most valuable Post-it note on record. ” 4

Use in technology Post-it notes have also been used in technology in the form of desktop notes which are computer applications developed to allow users to put virtual notes on their computer desktop These computerized versions of Post-it notes include 3M's own "Post-it Brand Software Notes", Apple's "Stickies", Windows 7's "Sticky Notes". The company has kept pace with computer technology with the introduction of their Post-it Software Notes for Internet Designers, a digital version of the familiar yellow note. The software is the first product of its kind to allow Web content to live outside the browser. Notes can be equipped with alarms and can be sent as electronic mail.

WHAT IS ORIGAMI “ Origami is the Japanese word for paper folding. ORI means to fold and KAMI means
paper. Together, they form the word, "origami." It is an art form that has been handed down from parent to child through many generations. Origami involves the creation of paper forms usually entirely by folding. Animals, birds, fish, geometric shapes, puppets, toys and masks are among the models that even very young children can learn to make in just one sitting. 6
