The Chicago St. Patrick’s day parade starts on Balbo and Columbus towards the river. It’s full of floats, dancers, beads, candy and of course Bagpipes. People come dressed in all green from all over to watch this two hour parade. After its done many people head over to the bright green river.

A big tradition since 1962 the Saturday before St. Patrick’s day is the dying of the river.
