Goal • To develop students’ ecological awareness, European identity, foreign language and ICT skills through a set of enviromentally friendly activities
Objectives (Bloom’s Taxonomy) Cognitive Students will: • Develop their foreign language skills. • Learn natural history terminology. • Learn Greek mythology, related to the names of trees. • Find information on specific trees of the Greek flora. • Identify and collect tree species of the Greek territory. • Learn about European flora.
Affective Students will: • Develop their ecological awareness. • Share ecological views with their European partners.
Psychomotor Students will: • Develop their ICT skills. • Improve their artistic skills.

Our Tree Concept Maps Concept maps help students generate nonlinguistic representations. They combine the linguistic mode in that they use words and phrases, and the nonlinguistic mode in that they use symbols and arrows to represent relationships. We used concept maps for the following:

Making our Tree Alphabet Concept Maps helped students design the Tree Alphabet. They wrote words related to trees and then drew and painted pictures of the aphabet words.

Greek Mythology offers opportunities to learn how certain trees were created. We photographed the trees in our school yard and then searched the Internet to find myths about them. The trees we studied are the following: Oleander Pine Tree Poplar Tree Olive Tree Willow Tree
