Royal Bank of Canada (RBC)

As a design strategist at the Royal Bank of Canada, Hagop applied design thinking and creative problemsolving skills to various initiatives to understand the needs, goals, and preferences of RBC clients, to generate innovative and feasible solutions that meet or exceed their expectations. Hagop developed scripts, screened participants and conducted user research and analysis to identify the pain points, opportunities, and insights of the target audience. Hagop developed personas, scenarios, journey maps, to empathize with the users and their experiences. Using Design Thinking Diamond Process, Hagop defined the problem statements ideated with stakeholders in co-collaboration workshops and prototyped various concepts and solutions using sketches, wireframes and low-fidelity mockups. Concepts were further tested and validated based on the feedback and data and findings were presented to SVP’s and VP’s.

Pathloop Hagop used Human Experience Design (Hx) methodologies to evaluate the four aging-in-place building typologies identified by the Canadian Housing and Mortgage Corporation (CMHC). ‘Generative toolkits’ were developed per typology for use in human testing sessions with volunteers from outside the school of the architecture community. These processes aim to maximize feedback with eventual users through systematic involvement in the formulation of architectural solutions to uncover functional, emotional, and practical implications. These toolkits were carefully calibrated to uncover the functional and emotional opportunities and barriers for each CMHC aging-in-place typology in question. Two testing sessions with homeowners: one with a young, recent homeowner and one with an older resident. Following these sessions - two weeks analyzing and framing working observations into recommendations: one for the architecture of aging in place, and the second for the design of future toolkits.
