Haileybury is a corporation limited by guarantee and operates, as a not-for-profit organisation, Haileybury College Reg No 1191 and an Early Learning Centre.
Haileybury is one of the leading independent schools in the Asia-Pacific region with campuses in Keysborough, Brighton, Berwick, Melbourne (City), an online campus, and schools in Darwin and Tianjin (China). The School is acclaimed for its outstanding academic achievements, small class sizes, a broad range of co-curricular activities and state-of-the-art facilities. Learning is based on the different learning styles of students, and on their gender, age, interests and potential.
About Haileybury
With 132 years of history, Haileybury has changed dramatically and is now one of the leading independent schools in Australia.
In 2023, The Educator Magazine awarded Haileybury with Secondary School of the Year Non-Government, and Regional School of the Year for Haileybury Rendall School.
The Parallel Education Model at Haileybury allows boys and girls to learn together in their younger years, and then separately as they move into middle and senior years. Haileybury also has a strong sense of community, with links across activities that bring the School together throughout the year.

It is not just Haileybury’s programs, teachers and facilities that draw praise — it is our students.
Haileybury has a diverse student body from across Melbourne and overseas.
Student numbers
On Census Day, 4 August 2023, Haileybury had an enrolment of 4,686 students (Prep – Year 12), of whom 2554 were boys, 2131 were girls and one non-binary student. This enrolment included 20 overseas students and 13 Indigenous students. Haileybury also had Early Learning Centre enrolments of 322 for a total enrolment of 5008.

Student attendance and retention
Attendance
Attendance in Years 9–12 is taken each period and in Prep – Year 8 it is taken twice a day (start and end). These are electronically recorded. Parents of students who are to be absent are asked to record their child’s absence via the School’s app (myHaileybury) prior to 9.30 am on the day of absence. Any discrepancies are followed up by Haileybury staff. In 2023, the Attendance Rate was 94.05%.
Retention
72.56% of students in Year 12 had been in the School since at least Year 9.
Vocational and Trade Training
4.4% of Years 10–12 boys and 3.2% of Years 10–12 girls were undertaking Vocational or Trade Training (Total: 3.8%).
Student outcomes
Haileybury prides itself on its student outcomes, in particular the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN).
In 2023, Haileybury students achieved an exceptional set of results, with two students obtaining the highest possible Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 99.95. Some 47.8% of all Haileybury ATAR results were in the top 10% in the country, with an ATAR of 90 and above.

CEO | Principal’s Message to the Haileybury Community
Haileybury’s class of Year 12 students have achieved another excellent set of VCE results, opening up a wide variety of exciting pathways for their futures.
I am very proud to announce that two Haileybury students attained the highest possible Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking (ATAR) of 99.95. This is an outstanding achievement considering only a little over 30 of the 50,000 students who sit VCE exams are awarded a 99.95 ATAR.
50% of Haileybury Girls College (girls) students and 47% of Haileybury College (boys) students achieved an ATAR of 90 or above placing them in the top 10% in Australia. Haileybury’s combined boys and girls median ATAR was 89.4. This is another strong result.
I am also pleased to see that 92% of all Haileybury students were in the top 40% in the country. This reflects Haileybury’s strong commitment to our motto that ‘every student matters every day’ and to ensuring that all students have the opportunity and support they need from their dedicated teachers to reach their potential.
Haileybury’s 2023 graduating cohort deserve great credit for their fortitude and resilience, and for working so collaboratively with each other and with their passionate and brilliant teachers during their Senior School years.
I thank all our staff for their work in contributing to this exceptional VCE performance. It is a great reflection of their professionalism, dedication and care.

Great academic results are the product of a strong partnership between students, parents and guardians, the school and its staff. NAPLAN results
In 2023, all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 undertook the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy testing. The results were outstanding and continued to show improvement from past results. The results reaffirm that Haileybury is one of Australia’s leading schools in literacy and numeracy.
The graphs below show the average mark a student achieved at each year level compared to the state and national averages. Data published on the My School website indicates that, at all year levels, Haileybury is performing well above similar schools in most areas. Haileybury continues to work towards ensuring all students achieve at their highest possible level.

The vast majority of Haileybury graduates chose to go on to further education, whether that be at university, TAFE or an apprenticeship. The excellent education they received enabled students to pursue varied pathways and courses.
In 2023, 98% of all female students and 97.5% of all male students who applied for tertiary courses, received at least one offer through VTAC. The most popular universities continued to be Monash University and The University of Melbourne.
