President’s Message

Welcome to the 10th annual Energizing Summit. Haircoloring has been thrust into the forefront of the beauty industry. The economy has left many salons and individuals struggling to make ends meet. As haircolorists we have a distinct advantage over those who are not haircolorists. A friend of mine once said about haircoloring, “Fashions come and fashions go, but roots go on forever”. It is difficult to ignore those dark or gray roots as they emerge from the scalp. As a result haircolorists have an advantage over our haircutting counterparts. It is easier to ignore some additional hair than it is that new growth. There is a difference between someone who does haircolor and a haircolorist. I consider myself a haircolorist. If someone would ask me what I would prefer to do, haircutting, hairstyling or haircoloring, I, without hesitation, would answer haircoloring. A true haircolorist is a problem solver. We are constantly being challenged by our clients to “fix” something. There is no such thing as a routine appointment if you are a problem solver. Sure you can do the same color as you did the last time, but not without some dialogue or explanation. It is during these discussions with your client that she will conclude that you are a haircolorist and know more about haircoloring than she does. Haircoloring is much more that simply applying a color to the hair. This is much to simplistic. It is so simplistic that many of our potential clients are doing their own haircolor. Here at the Energizing Summit we have some very talented educators to help you with whatever challenges that may come your way. If we do not learn to do haircolor better than a client, we will lose them to home haircoloring. Haircoloring is much different than haircutting or a design. No one hesitates to compliment a stranger on their hairstyle, but there is some hesitation when it comes to complimenting a person on their haircolor. Perhaps the person who you are about to compliment does not color their hair, and if they do they would prefer no one know it. That is a tremendous disadvantage. Your client has to love her haircolor so much she has to flaunt it. At the end of the two days with us you will learn what you have to do to make your clients want to flaunt their haircolor. We can call this the flaunt Summit. Lastly, GET CERTIFIED!!

When Coloring Gray Hair

Pamela Pacheco

Sunday: 11:00am 3:00pm Monday: 9:30am 2:00pm Gray hair is the cornerstone of the haircoloring business. More people color their hair because of the appearance of gray hair than for any other reason. It is critical you make the proper choices when coloring the clients hair for the first time. Pamela has broken down the choices based on age, percentage of gray, haircolor category and how the client feels about their gray hair. Learn Pamela’s successful methods for making that gray hair client come back. She has some proven methods of introducing your gray haired clients to color.

Faster is Better

Joe Santy

Sunday: 11:00am Monday: 9:30am 2:00pm

The controversy over color acceleration from the novice to the purist of haircolorists has been with us since the 1940’s. Can I use heat or should I not use heat? What about these after market haircolor additives for speed, gray coverage and fade prevention. Why do I need it with my haircolor line? Now some of the major manufacturers are advertising 10 minute haircolor to be used at home. This class will share how the over 7,000,000 clients that used color accelerators became supporters of the accelerator concept. Let Joe Santy and Dianna Lopez show you how easy and non intimidating color acceleration is. Bring all of your questions and have them answered by the experts. You will love this class. 22
