TOPIC

The drawing with natural thinking or with subconscious thinking is the theme I keen on pusuring. Because I think the drawing is the process to visulize the thinking from abstraction to concreteness. So the schedule of my work I want to put my attentation to research how to express from thinking to drawing like natural language. 2

PROCESS Drawing the 'WAVE' from different instructions in twenty minutes The intereting point as my pespective was that although everyone got the same siginal, but the outcomes were diversity, some were weakness and others were strength.

Fixing one experimental setting and drawing hundreds of paper I chose the natural object 'SAND' as a factor to constitute my picture, because I thought sand owns the characters of diversity, flexibility which exactly met what the nature I realized.

RESEARCH The diversity of the individual drawing

As I opinion, even if the Van Gogh, he also couldn't draw the exactly same two paintings. How could be did by average person? Beause the result of drawing is effected by a 10

lot of possibilities we can't estimate. For example, the experience ,the emotion, the process of tranfering, the skill and so forth.

INSPIRATION Discovery from the nature

12

Somtimes, we can find the funny things from the nature, considered by a lot of people, which own the some kinds of magic power. From the very begining, I start to find the chrasristics from the nature through peceiving. These photos

were pictured by myself when I hung out the streets of the cologne. Seeing through these pictures, I thought that I could find some special aesthetic patterns or textures from the disorder things which are actually made by the nature. 13

RESULTS I drew the hundreds of papers finally, in which I did a lot of experiments to draw when I stayed at differet situation, such as the time after I got up, before I slept or some fragmented time, in order to perceive the difference what will happen. And I also tried to use different tools, such as pencil, charcoal stick, marker, ballpen and so

18

on, and server different colours in order to test various reaction. But what regretful for me is, because of some objective reason, I just use the A4 white printer paper in this project, which possibly restricted the diversity of the 19

results. The outcomes of my works really inspired me a lot. The most amazing thing was I couldn't believe I eventually drew so many papers until the end of the couse. Through this praticing, I have learned to observe, even to think the difference during my drawing process. For

example I could fell the variation between the line I initial stroke and the final one when I drew contiually, and I could conscious the different tools I used bring me the various drawing feeling. Apart from that, I did a lot of meaningless drawing in my subconscious 20

and unconscious condition, for example I continuously drew the curve, circle or other regular shapes when I opened or closed my eye. I could experience the emotional variation

21

during this process, such as nervous, sometime I could feel uneasy, even scare. And it's intreseting for me that these mood will reinfluence to my 22

drawing outcomes. What's more, I also utilized the print method to do some experiment in order to check the results. For example, I initially used

different pen to draw on the plasitic paper several times and then transfered them to the same white paper seperatedly. 23

REFLECTION

Drawing is one of the most important language of designer, I have been always envying the sketches from the design masters. how they can summerize their thinking so extremely precise and accurate! As my former practing, I get used to draw the specific thing, such as copying from the life. But, the mission of designer is to create something don't exist in the world instead of copying somthing. So I have been curiousing the sub-concept of this coures 24

which was focused on the relationship and connection between thinking and drawing. In further, there is no doubt that the sketch is the most effective method can be used by designer.

Refer to this course, I think drawing hundreds papers within the same theme is very difficult for me. It's hard for my audiences to trace my mind from every piece of drawing. But

what made me more exicting was the final presentation which offer me the great opportunity to communicate, share experience with my teacher and my classmates. 25
