When I took over the magazines more than two years ago, I inherited publications with a long history. Effingham Magazine and Pooler Magazine were established magazines that had served the communities well. And now we are celebrating our 15-year anniversary! Over the years, Effingham Magazine has chronicled the people and organizations who have made this area what it is today. The magazine has highlighted the inspiring individuals, who often against many obstacles, achieved remarkable things or Jan Southern gave back to the community in extraordinary ways. I always say, ours is a magazine that puts out “feel good” stories about the people, places and organizations that make this the best place to live, work and play. That is one of the many things I love about Effingham Magazine and what we continue to strive for with each issue. If you have been picking up our magazines, finding them in your mailbox at home or reading online over the last two years, you may have noticed some important changes to Effingham Magazine. We have improved content, better stories and it is just as much a digital magazine as it is one in print. We have expanded our distribution of Effingham Magazine to more than 250 locations throughout Effingham County even at the visitor’s centers on I-95 and the airport. Our online readership has grown, and our social media presence brings readers into the stories of Effingham every day. Fifteen years ago, Effingham County legend Josh Reddick was just starting his career in baseball. He has been on our covers before and we couldn’t be more excited to have him on the cover for our 15th issue anniversary issue— now as a professional athlete and philanthropist, having made such an impact with his generosity and encouragement to this community. We hope you enjoy this issue as much as we loved making it for you. Here’s to 15 years serving Effingham and many more to come.
