3
B
is for a black hole
pulling in debris that is flying through outer space. A black hole is like a vacuum cleaner. It uses the power of gravity to pull things toward it. It is so powerful that not even light can escape!
4
C
is for constellations in the night sky.
A constellation is a pattern of stars viewed from earth that make a picture, like playing connect the dots. There are 88 official constellations. One famous constellation is called the big dipper. It looks like a spoon. Can you spot it in the picture?

6
E
is for earth, the planet we live on.
Earth is also the only planet with liquid water. The earth is home to 7.125 billion people!!! 7
F
is for a beautiful solar flare.
A solar flare is caused by an eruption in the sun’s Atmosphere.
They are almost as hot as the core of the sun.
They release 10 million times more energy than a volcano. 8
G
is for the galaxy
that we live in. Galaxies make up the entire universe. There are about 170 billion galaxies in the universe.
The word galaxy means “milky”. Our galaxy is named “the Milky Way”.
9
H
is for the Hubble Telescope
It travels around the earth at 5 miles per second and it is as long as a large school bus. It can take pictures of planets, stars, and galaxies trillions of miles away
10
I
is for the international
space station orbiting the earth. It is a place for Astronauts to Live while they Are in space. It has two bathrooms and a gym. Sometimes, you can see the space station from earth.
11
J
is for the gigantic planet, Jupiter. .Jupiter is the largest planet In the solar system. The earth could fit Inside Jupiter over 1000 times. Jupiter's great red spot is where a giant storm has been raging for at least 300 years.
12
K
is for the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It is the place where Spaceships take off. Visitors can come And watch. There Are many activities For tourists to do At the Kennedy Space Center.
13
L
is for light
Produced by the sun. Light travels very, very fast. Light takes about 1.25 seconds to get from the earth to the moon. There are different types of light that the human eye cannot see.
14
M
is for the moon in our night sky.
The moon’s surface is covered in craters. You can see the surface by using a telescope or binoculars. From earth, we can only see one side of the moon.
15
N
is for NASA
Nasa is in charge of all of the space exploration projects. Their Headquarters Are in Washington D.C. The acronym "NASA" stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
16
O
is for the earth orbiting around
the sun. All of the planets in our solar system orbit around the sun. Many other things can orbit in outer space. An orbit is kept by a gravitational pull.
17
P
is for the nine planets.
Each planet orbits the sun. However, some do not classify pluto as a planet anymore.
18
Q
is for a quasar.
A quasar is an extremely Bright mass of energy And light. They are the Brightest object in our Universe. They are the furthest away from our galaxy that we can see.
19
R
is for a Rocket flying through the sky. One space shuttle launch costs $450 million. Rockets burn fuel to carry a space shuttle out of the earth’s atmosphere. A rocket does not need Air to work. This is Why they are used in Space.
20
S
is for the Sun
shining bright. The sun gives Life to the earth By shining light and giving off energy. The sun is a star-not a planet. It is over one million times bigger than the earth.
21
T
is for the telescope we
use to see things far, far away. They are often used to Look at stars and planets. The largest telescope in The world is located in Wisconsin.
22
U
is for Universe.
No one knows how big the universe is. The Earth is only a very tiny part of the universe.
Galaxies are constantly moving farther away from each other. There is actually no “center of the universe. 23
v
is for venus.
Venus has many volcanoes on its surface. The temperature of the planet is so hot that it could cook a meal in minutes. Venus is the planet that is closest to earth.
24
W
