Interview: Interviewed by Dina Panderd Photography Panderd Interview with our Double Cover model Kim Young Woo! Mr. Kim has been a fashionista of local fame via his instagram. HALLYU was lucky to have a photoshoot with him in Seoul, the heart of Korean fashion. His sweet and adorable personality is to melt for!
HALLYU Magazine: Hello! Could you tell us a little about yourself? Young Woo: Hello, my name is Kim Young Woo and I am 24 years old. I currently live and work in Seoul and specialize in customizing shoes. HM: Why do you love fashion so much. Young Woo: Fashion changed my live. Right now is a perfect time for people who love fashion as much as I do. Getting to wear what you want and receiving compliments, inspires me to continue working in this industry. HM: What are your favorite brands or idol? Young Woo: My most favorite brands are Saint Lauren and Chrome Hearts. As my fashion inspiration I look up to G-Dragon HM: If you date do you like couple clothing and what’s your favorite look for a girl? Young Woo: Of course I would love to wear a couple look when I date, who wouldn’t? For a girl I prefer a more formal dress. The whole outfit has to be sleek and clean, and the shoes should also get a lot of attention. HM: What’s ideal date? Young Woo: I enjoy a date like any other. Go to a movie, then a meal and coffee shop, and finish with some drinking.
Kim
Young Woo HM: What are your top 3 things to give to a girl? Young Woo: My top 3 gifts for a girl are perfume, shoes and clothes HM: Will you celebrating Black Day this year? Young Woo: If I get some free time I will just spend it with my friends in Hongdae. HM: Whats your 5 top songs at the moment? Young Woo: I would have to say at the moment my favorite songs are: Taeyang ‘1AM’ G-Dragon ‘FXXK IT’ G-Dragon ‘CROOKED’ G-Dragon ‘BLACK’ G2 ‘1999’ feat. Gray HM: Thank you very much for the interview! I hope there is a girl, perhaps one of our readers that could meet you one day to experience the awesome personality and amazing fashion sense that you posses!
Hyolyn in LA
Hyolyn debuted as a part of the hot, powerhouse, girl group Sistar in 2010 under Starship Entertainment. During her time since debut, Hyolyn has made herself known in the KPOP world to have one of the most powerful vocals within the industry and was even one of the top two finalists in the Korean hip hop “survival” show, Unpretty Rapstar, in 2015. Having made her solo debut in Korea in in 2013, the songstress took her solo act to the States for her first solo tour performing in New York and Los Angeles. I had the pleasure of seeing Hyolyn in Los Angeles on March 19 at The Mayan theatre. I had seen her perform along her group members before when they came to Los Angeles for the Korea Times Music Festival, the Open Concert as well as KCON, but it was time to show us what she could do on her own. The concert was held by Transparent Agency, a group run and operated out of Los Angeles that, by their website, states that “Through our understanding of different cultures we are about
breaking barriers through artistry and music.” The venue was filled with many KPOP fans with noticeably a lot more KPOP fan boys than one would be used to seeing at a KPOP show. There were people of all ages and you could tell that everyone was ready to see Hyolyn slay the stage. There were two opening acts, Lijah Lu and YouTube star, JunCurryAnh. Both hit the stage and performed about 4-5 songs each before the queen herself hit the stage. She came out on stage with a white crop top, jean shorts and red heels and opened her set with a performance of “Paradise” followed by remixed versions of popular Sistar and Sistar19 songs like “My Boy”, “I Swear” and “Touch My Body”. It was those songs that fans got excited for and everyone danced along to. Not only did Hyolyn bring those iconic dances to the stage but she made sure to add a few changes to the choreography. I’d be lying to say I do not think Hyolyn is gorgeous with an amazing body and she made sure to show us what she was working with.
Hyolyn closed the show by doing a cover of Jesse J’s “Bang Bang” and if you did not already think that she had an amazing vocal range afterthat, you knew after seeing that performance. Hyolyn took the stage with such confidence and swag that to the audience, if she was nervous, we would have never known. She was able to show us why she is one of the best vocalists in the KPOP industry right now, and though she may just be a member of a girl group to some, there is no denying that she has an amazing voice and great confidence on the stage.

PUSHBUTTON collection shows elements of classic and retro feel that has a modern twist to it. Most colors that are used are deluded, yet those sudden bright pop ups give it a more youthful vibe.
D.GNAK captured our hearts once again with his street style dark-wear menswear collection. The designer once again came out with a range of looks suitable for any occasion, be it a night out with friends or a more formal occasion, anyone wearing these garments will catch the attention as the most fashionable person in the room. One will never regret owning a D.Gnak piece.

KIMMY.J decided to combine neon with pastel and apply it to oversized garments that might have a little tacky yet harmonious look. These big blocks of color will not leave any wearer unnoticed.
