Wanna One concluded their activities with a final concert (titled “Therefore”) held across four days, ending on January 27, 2019. The concert was held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, where the group held their debut showcase. The group created from survival programme Produce 101 Season 2 was formed with the top eleven winners of the show; Yoon Jisung, Ha Sungwoon, Hwang Minhyun, Ong Seongwu, Kim Jaehwan, Kang Daniel, Park Jihoon, Park Woojin, Bae Jinyoung, Lee Daehwi and Lai Kuanlin. Despite being a temporary project group, Wanna One created huge buzz with its popularity and achievements. Just like its last album, the concert revolved around the theme of destiny, where commemorating the eleven members’ friendship and their destinies with Wannables (fandom name). ‘Destiny’ plays as the huge
LED screen countdowns to Wanna One appearing on stage in black suits, performing ‘Never’. Wanna One brought fans down a memory lane, with songs like ‘Energetic’ and ‘Pick Me’. Both songs brought gushes of nostalgia to fans and many of them were tearing at the thought of seeing these performances for the last time. Each member prepared special solo stages for different days of the concerts, mostly showing how much they have grown in one and a half years. Bae Jinyoung, who did a dance cover of ‘Growl’ by Exo back in his Produce 101 audition, re-choreographed a powerful cover at the concert. Overflowing with confidence and charms, he showed a different image from that F-class trainee two years back. Lead vocal Ha Sungwoon performed a heart-wrenching song cover of ‘In Front of Your House’ by
Kim Bum Soo, keeping his promise to fans who have been anticipating a full cover ever since he sang a short snippet in the survival programme. Wanna One sang with a live band rearrangement of ‘Boomerang’, ‘Light’, ‘Day by Day’ and performed its latest tracks ‘Spring Breeze’, ‘Deeper’, ‘One Love’ and ‘Flower bomb’.. Reaching the last segment of the concert, the eleven boys returned back on stage in white suits, singing ‘12th Star’, a song dedicated to their fans. Looking down at a sea of fanlights, a couple of them couldn’t hold in their tears and struggled to finish the song. Wanna One closed the show and their journey with a heartfelt song, ‘Beautiful, Pt. II’, where the entire arena sang along in a sobbing mess. Park Woojin who have always been the cheekiest of the group broke down throughout
all four shows, and on the last day he expressed his gratitude towards fans saying, “even when knowing that we were going to end like that, (you) were still happily running towards this moment, even when knowing it’ll be this painful.” Youngest of the group, Lai Kualin who was first to bid goodbye to the fans said, “Once I leave this stage you guys wouldn’t be able to see a complete Wanna One,” as he went on to give a hug to each member. With the members leaving the stage one by one, the group’s center Kang Daniel was left alone tearing on stage, with the entire area of fans who wailed for them to not go. The Therefore concert is arguably one of the most emotional K-pop concerts, but it also marks a graduation of sorts for Wanna One, as we anticipate exciting futures from all eleven members.

Valentine’s Day IN KOREA
Valentine’s Day in Korea is a bit different from Valentine’s Day elsewhere in world. In fact, Valentine’s Day is one of 12 “love days” celebrated on the 14th of every month in Korea. These days range from the popular (White Day) or depressing (Black Day), to the bizarre (Hug Day) and everything in between. Big money is both spent and made on Valentine’s and White Day, while the other love days receive little to no commercial attention. Valentine’s Day (February 14th): Rather than the catch-all holiday it is in the rest of the world, on Valentine’s Day in Korea women give chocolate to men as a sign of affection. Traditionally, men that receive these gifts will give a gift in return the following month
on White Day. This has been changing in recent years, as retailers have begun targeting Men and Women on both days. As such, the day is a couples day, rather than a generally observed holiday as it is in countries like the United States. Many convenience stores set up large displays out in front of their shops, with a heavy focus on chocolate and chocolate candies like Ferrero Rocher, Twix and Chupa Chups. These shops remain up from roughly the week before Valentine’s Day to the week after White Day. Similarly, many advertisers capitalize on the two days to anchor their early season sales of jewelry, sweets, lingerie and other sentimental gifts. White Day (March 14th): First celebrated just over 35 years ago in Japan, White Day is the

man’s turn to show his affection with sugary sweetness, and takes place a month after Valentine’s day on March 14th. The name stems from the giving of primarily white gifts, like white chocolate and lingerie, by Men as an answer to Valentine’s Day gifts. In recent years, the exclusively white nature of the holiday has changed to include both dark and white chocolate, other shades of lingerie and non-chocolate candies like lollipops. Some people follow the so called “Rule of Three” which dictates that the reciprocal gift given by the man must be roughly 3 times the value of the gift he received on Valentine’s Day. This rule is not widely expected or practiced, but many Men view it as a rough guideline for reciprocal gifting.
Black Day (April 14th): Supposedly, singles that did not receive a gift on either Valentine’s day or white day congregate on April 14th, otherwise known as “Black Day” to eat Jjajyangmyeon (Black Noodles) with other single friends. According to actual Korean 20-somethings, sad singles meeting on the 14th and sharing the day’s namesake dish is less reality, and more depressing hogwash. By April 14th, the weather in Korea is generally fair and mild, summer is around the corner and “you don’t need a reason, or a day, to go out anymore.” Perhaps the most telling difference between the two major relationship holidays and Black Day is that the advertising around Black Day is nearly non-existent, in stark contrast to both Valentine’s Day and White Day.
