T
he girls of Lovelyz are back with their fourth concert “Lovelyz in Winterland 3” and for the first time, they held a concert in Singapore at ZEPP@BIGBOX where many fans were gathered on the 17th of March. The concert started off with a magical fairytale like video telling a story of the girls’ tale in Winter Worlds and the girls stood on stage with their first song “Lost N Found”. Afterwards, a two part VCR was shown to keep the fans entertained while Lovelyz were getting ready for the concert. In the VCR, the girls were split into two teams - Team Mijoo and Team Baby Soul - and they had to each prepare a dish while trying to be as quiet as possible or else they would receive punishments in the form of ugly accessories and makeup. The team with the fewest punishments would be the winner. The video was adorable and fun, eliciting laughter from the crowd every time a member made a mistake. There were several talk sections where the members tried their best to communicate with their fans. These sections were mostly done in English which put the translator out of business and it was evident that the members prepared a lot. It was heartwarming to see the amount of effort the girls put in to communicate with their fans. A variety of performances showcased the groups’ talent in singing and dancing such as performances ranging from emotional ballads to upbeat dance performances. Hit
songs like “WoW!”, “Ah-Choo” and “Hi~” kept the crowd screaming with excitement. The girls started off their encore with “Twinkle” and the concert hall erupted with cheers. Soon after, the girls had to say their ending comments and during then, the staff rolled in a cake which was an early surprise celebration for member Kei’s 24th birthday on the 20th of March. The fans also held up a banner with the words “Happy Kei Day” on it. While blowing out the candle, Kei’s wish was “To come to Singapore a lot” and this garnered many cheers from the fans. The surprise event was a definite success. A final video showing the journey of the girls’ career was played. From videos of their first win on music shows to other milestones they achieved. “Thank you for debuting” - was what the video ended off with. After the video, the girls turned around to see the fans holding up a banner thanking them for working hard. All of the girls except for Baby Soul cried from their fans’ touching event. Member Yein mentioned that she was especially grateful when she saw the words “Thank you for debuting” during the video and all of the member thanked the fans. Ending off with the song “Good Night Like Yesterday”, the girls concluded their first concert in Singapore. With promises to come back to Singapore again, the girls bid farewell to their fans.

he most eagerlyanticipated K-pop music festival in the region, HallyuPopFest (HPF) returns this May for its second edition in Singapore. The best of Korean music and culture will converge at the electrifying K-pop extravaganza, which happens on the 25th and 26th of May 2019 at Singapore Indoor Stadium. Globally acclaimed superstars SUPER JUNIOR, will be headlining the festival, along with wildly popular bands such as MONSTA X, NU’EST and WINNER. In this year’s edition, a new segment, HallyuTown will also debut. It will function as the main festival square where HallyuPopFest’s muchloved Red Carpet event will be held. HallyuTown will be open to the public offering a variety of Hallyurelated booths and activities featuring K-Food, K-Beauty and K-Lifestyle, as well as a dedicated Fan Support area for fans to show their love and support for their idols.
As South East Asia’s first and largest K-pop festival, #HallyuPopFest was the most tweeted hashtag in Singapore in 2018, and last year’s festival saw over 25,000 attendees from all over the region. This year’s edition of the ‘Korean Wave Movement’ promises to be another spectacular event, with more unstoppable entertainment for K-pop fans. Each event day, festivalgoers get an all-in-one, day-to-night experience, starting with activities at HallyuTown, Showcase performances by up-andcoming K-pop artistes, the Red Carpet event, Artiste Engagement opportunities and finally our spectacular Evening Concerts featuring our headliner acts. The artiste line-up will boast a total of 15 performing acts including established boyband PENTAGON, top girl groups (G)I-DLE and OH MY GIRL, reggaeton group K.A.R.D, veteran soloist HYOLYN, chart-topping rock band N.FLYING, and talented rapper KANTO,
as well as the next generation of K-pop music acts including GWSN, A.C.E, VERIVERY and TREI. Boasting a full Korean technical team like last year, HallyuPopFest promises another spectacular backdrop for every artiste’s performance full of creative visuals and effects for more unforgettable performances. “HallyuPopFest came about because we wanted to create a festival experience where K-pop fans from all over, from various fandoms could come together and celebrate their idol adoration, boundless energy and love for the music that are the cornerstones of K-pop,” said Selena Ho, CEO, H.A.H. Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to bring together an amazing line-up comprising a diverse variety of Korean music genres, from pop to rap, rock and more. Besides the breadth of musical styles, we have a mix of acts from different generations catering to different fanbases. So, whether you’re a K-pop newbie or a long-time fan of a certain idol, our festival has something for everyone,” added Selena. “As this is our second time participating in HPF, we’re beyond excited to continue our partnership with HallyuPopFest. We’re confident that the festival will be as spectacular as the first,” said CUBE Entertainment spokesperson. Said spokesperson from PLEDIS Entertainment: “We’re thrilled to be a part of
HallyuPopFest this year, as the event brings together many in Southeast Asia to enjoy the music and performances of Korean artists. Seeing as last year’s inaugural festival was a huge success, we are very much looking forward to participating this year.” Every ticket gives festival goers access to two concert events per day - the afternoon Showcase that runs about 2 hours long, and the 3-hour Evening Concert where headliners will perform individual sets of at least 30 minutes each, making it a “concert within a concert”. For Category 1, 2 and 3 ticket holders who would like a more personal fan experience, they may opt for the HallyuPass for Artiste Engagement which gives them a once-in-a-lifetime interaction experience with an artiste performing that day.
BROOKLYN TV ANNOUNCEMENT K-Pop singer, BROOKLYN, has just announced a YouTube series entitled ‘BROOKLYN TV.’ Episode 1 is a special vlog showing BROOKLYN touring LA, Seoul, and Vancouver. BROOKLYN also teased fans that he is working on new music. His new single will debut with a music video this Spring.

SHE WAS PRETTY When Sung-Joon was young, he was ugly and fat. He also didn’t have any friends, but popular and pretty Hye-Jin became his friend. She gave him comfort on rainy days when Sung-Jung feels traumatised. They held a special connection with each other, but Sung-Joon and his father moved to the United States. 15 years later, Sung-Joon returns to South Korea. He and Hye-Jin are set to meet again for the first time in many years, but Hye-Jin is unable to show herself in front of Sung-Joon who is looking for her. Both of their appearances have completely changed. Sung-Joon is now handsome
and perfect in his appearance, while Hye-Jin looks nothing like her former pretty self. HyeJin is also unemployed and looking for a job. Hye-Jin then asks her best friend Ha-Ri or help. Ha-Ri is to pretend she is Hye-Jin and go meet Sung-Joon. At their meeting, Ha-Ra pretends to be Hye-Jin and tells Sung-Joon that she is leaving for England the next day to study. Later, Hye-Jin, as an intern at a fashion magazine, meets Sung-Joon who is an editor at the fashion magazine.
EMERGENCY COUPLE Jin-Hee led a satisfying life as a dietitian. She then met medical school student Chang-Min. Despite his wealthy family’s strong opposition, Jin-Hee and ChangMin decided to get married. Chang-Min’s family is full of doctors. Chang-Min though gave up his medical internship and began working as a pharmaceutical salesman. Their marriage life was not happy. Chang-Min’s family looked down on Jin-Hee and even
Chang-Min seemed to change. Chang-Min began to think terribly of Jin-Hee and they finally divorced. After their divorce, Jin-Hee became a medical student and now works as an intern. ChangMin also graduated from medical school and begins to work as an intern. One day, they meet in the emergency room for a hospital where they will both work together.
DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN Shi-Jin is the captain of the special forces. He catches a motorcycle thief with Sergeant Major Dae-Young. The thief is injured during his capture and is sent to the hospital. Dae-Young realises his cellphone was stolen by the thief and goes to the hospital to retrieve his cellphone. In the emergency room, Shi-Jin meets Dr. Mo-Yeon for the first time. He falls in love with her immediately. Mo-Yeon mistakenly assumes Shi-Jin is part of thief ’s criminal gang. He proves to her that he is a soldier with the help of army doctor Myeong-Joo. Shi-Jin and Mo-Yeon begin to date, but due to their jobs their dates don’t go well.
Shi-Jin takes an order to lead his soldiers on a peacekeeping mission to the country of Uruk. Meanwhile, Mo-Yeon becomes upset that she fails to become a professor due to a colleague’s privileged background. When ShiJin and Mo-Yeon meet again, they talk about their views on life and realise how different they are. Shi-Jin, as a soldier, kills to protect lives and Mo-Yeon, as a doctor, tries to save all lives. They say their goodbyes. Eight months later, Mo-Yeon rebuffs the sexual advances of hospital chairman Suk-Won (Tae In-Ho) and as retribution is assigned to lead a medical team in Uruk. There, Shi-Jin and Mo-Yeon meet again.

STRONG WOMAN DO BONG SOON Bong-Soon was born with superhuman like strength. Her strength is hereditary and passed along only to the women in her family. Her dream is to create a video game with herself as the main character. One day, Bong-Soon helps out a bus driver who is being attacked by a thug. Soon, a small mob of thugs attack Bong-Soon, but she is easily able to wipe the floor with them. During this time, Min-Hyuk drives up to the scene of Bong-Soon beating up the group of thugs. Min-Hyuk is the CEO of video gaming company Ainsoft. He has recently received anonymous threats and even followed by an unknown person. Min-Hyuk
believes Bong-Soon would make a great bodyguard with her amazing strength. Besides offering Bong-Soon high pay, he even offers her the chance of working in the planning department of his gaming company if she does well. Meanwhile, crimes against women take place in the neighborhood where Bong-Soon lives. Detective Kook-Doo also lives in the same neighborhood. They have been friends since they were kids. Bong-Soon is also madly in love with him, but he has a girlfriend. KookDoo tries to solve the case and Bong-Soon and Min-Hyuk are pulled in.

Meanwhile, Ji-A is an aspiring entrepreneur and works as a personal shopper. She receives a phone call from her ex-boyfriend BaekGyun. Her ex-boyfriend is a world renown developer of android robots. His latest creation is the android Aji 3, which he built
with the same physical appearance as Ji-A, but an accident has broken Aji 3. Making matters worse, he has received an order for Aji 3 from Min-Kyu with the promise of more investment money if he’s satisfied. Being in such a predicament, Baek-Gyun offers money to Ji-A if she will go to Min-Kyu’s home and pretend to be Aji 3. Ji-A is in need of money and accepts the offer.

Yeongdeungpo Yeouido Spring Flower Festival The Yeongdeungpo Yeouido Spring Flower Festival is a representative festival in Seoul, taking place every April. Yeouiseo-ro, the street behind the National Assembly Building, is lined with cherry blossom trees and is the most famous cherry blossom street in Seoul. Visitors can take a stroll along the Hangang River through a tunnel of these majestic trees. Other spring flowers blooming beneath the trees include azaleas and forsythias. There are also cultural street performances, a flower decoration exhibit, and a photo exhibit taking place throughout the festival period.
jinhae Gunhangje Festival Taking place in April, Jinhae Gunhangje Festival draws in more than 2 million tourists every year. The many cherry blossom trees create fantastic tunnels to walk through. The cherry blossom petals falling down like pink snow will transport you to a dream-like world! There are various events not to be missed, such as the Jinhae International Military Band & Honor Guard Festival and fireworks show.
Icheon Baeksa sansuyu Flower Festival Home to 100-year-old, wild sansuyu trees, the Icheon Baeksa Sansuyu Blossom Festival venue is a leading production area of sansuyu trees in Korea. In spring, the sansuyu flowers are in full bloom to decorate the whole village in yellow while in autumn, the red fruit signals the changing of the season. The trees here were said to have originated from scholars who planted them long ago, earning the nickname “Scholar’s Flowers.” During the festival period, a variety of performances and cornus fruit-related hands-on programs are offered to all visitors.
Jecheon Cheongpungho CHERRY BLOSSOM Festival Jecheon Cheongpungho Cherry Blossom Festival takes place along Cheongpungho lakeside, where thousands of mature cherry blossom trees stand tall and proud. Various shows and performances are scheduled, including a cherry blossom street concert and a dance parade. Visitors can also purchase souvenirs from the flea market that will take place during the festival period. Nearby attractions include the Cheongpung Cultural Heritage Complex and a bungee jumping site.
