Finger Heart

T

he city of Mannhein, Germany, became for a day the meeting place for all korean culture lovers of Europe with the Finger Heart Festival. Through a travel of senses all day along, the most curious ones had the opportunity to enjoy various activities such as dressing with a hanbok or tasting the korean food, from sweet to spicy. Meanwhile the kpop fans heat up the venue with various rounds of random play dance. All this before the big night show with : Jeong Sewoon, KARD, Cosmic Girls, and MONSTA X.

by its talent and capacity to entertain a whole audience with his self composed songs. With the rythmic and funky sounds of “Feeling” and “Toc Toc”, Jeon Sewoon manage to gain new fans and be the night bias wrecker.

Not long after the SAP Arena was filled with 8000 people coming to party, Jeong Sewoon rocked the stage in no time. Nothing to impress him, he’s here to give everything and the fans took it all. The only solo act of the night was one of the biggest

2019 is a crazy year for kpop in Europe, not a month without a kpop band concert, or rather a kpop boyband concert. In all this craze, girls are still too shy to come to us and that’s why Cosmic Girls came to “Save Me, Save You”. The girls were literaly stunning by their perfect dance skills and interactions with the fans and let us “make that party boom boom”.

The most famous co-ed group of kpop fiercely attacked the stage and the crowd’s hearts, KARD did not come to play games. The lucky people who attended the Finger Heart Festival get the premiere of Dumb Litty live performance, only 3 days after KARD new MV get revealed. It’s a fact: everybody loves KARD, everybody loves to body roll on “Oh NaNa”.

The final boss is no other than probably the busiest global kpop band this year, MONSTA X who are back in Europe only 2 months after their successful world tour “We Are Here”. After they freed the “Alligator” to pulled the fans into their swamp, the members of MONSTA X gave no rest as they showed us how to turn a lovely party to a crazy mess.. if you don’t believe us, we dare you to find a non shaking fancam from people who tried to handle “Rodeo” and “Fallin”. There is a reason why these two songs were performed in this order. Coz before you knew, you felt for MONSTA X.

On the 25th and 26th of October 2019, these South Korean pop stars and their excited fans will shake the ISS Dome. Headlining the show is Super Junior, one of the most popular ensembles in K-pop history. The group has celebrated numerous successes during their 14 years since debut, including multiple best-selling albums of the year in Korea. NCT Dream is an up-and-coming act. The youngest boy group out of famous agency SM Entertainment is entirely made up of teenagers, their songs have a lighthearted sound and fancy choreographies. RGP is the name of reggae duo Skull and Haha. Their song “Love Inside”, a collaboration with the son of Bob Marley, reached top 10 in Jamaica’s video charts. Entertainer Haha is a familiar face on South Korean television.

Colourful and dreamy is the setting for Elris. Founded in 2017, the girl group can boast additional stage experience. Two of the five singers were participants in the competition show “K-pop Star”. Newcomer CIX tops off the event. Member Bae Jinyoung is best known for his appearance on TV show “Produce 101”. He became part of the immensely successful winning group Wanna One. An elaborate production with catchy melodies awaits the “NOVUS Festival” audience on both evenings. German-Korean organiser NET Entertainment has already united several K-pop stars in Düsseldorf at the “BIG 5 CONCERT” in May of this year. Tickets are available via CTS Eventim. fter a successful tour in Europe and other countries, Epik High once again returns to Singapore after a long time.

Sixteen years from their debut, are the veterans still able to command the stage and rile up the audience like they did back then? The answer was yes. The moshpit in front of the stage was filled with hordes of screaming fans who bobbed to their hit songs like “Love, Love, Love” and “In Seoul”. Epik High also called Singapore, one of the “hottest” places to party and the audience left that day, to a rousing performance by them. The veterans of the industry still have it and their crowd certainly still adores them. I, for one, am looking forward to them coming back.

ALL ABOUT MAKGEOLLI

Of all of Korea’s traditional alcohols, makgeolli has the longest history. It is made by mixing steamed glutinous rice or wheat with nuruk, a traditional fermentation starter, and water, then leaving the mixture to ferment. It has a milky, opaque color and a low alcohol content of 6%-13%. It is relatively low in calories and high in proteins. It also contains high levels of yeast and lactobacillus. Idong Makgeolli, produced in Pocheon, Gyeonggi-do, has a sweet and tangy taste similar to carbonated water. Recently, different flavors of makgeolli have become quite popular, including yuja (citron), ginseng and omija (five-flavor berry) makgeolli.
