A terrace of six Grade B listed properties dating from 1866-78 were re-worked and extended to provide accommodation for Queen’s ILL and Graduate Research Centre. Inappropriate dormers/window modifications were removed and reinstated to reflect the originals and the missing front railings were replaced to match surviving railings in nearby University Square. The rear returns were replaced with three, two-storey extensions of contemporary appearance to provide larger spaces appropriate for teaching. One of the main challenges in this project was providing accessibility between inter connecting floors which had been built at different levels and the installation of a lift.
