UNIV 1100 University Studies
Got Time? Time stops for NO ONE! Do you practice Time Management? THE PLAN
To begin to acquire the necessary skills of time management for college success, as individuals and as a group, the class will complete several assignments. I have outlined what will be expected below. If you have any questions please ask me during class or see my contact information on the syllabus.
THE STEPS Assess your current knowledge and skills as it relates to time management. Take this quiz. Explore information from the links below to understand the concept of time management and common techniques. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_management http://www.clemson.edu/collegeskills/SEC2PG1.HTM http://www.campuscalm.com/time_management.html You will complete all of the time management activities at the following link by the first class on the following week: http:// www.d.umn.edu/kmc/student/loon/acad/strat/time_use_chart.html This includes: Time Chart, Summary of Activities, Evaluate, Planned Weekly Schedule. Make sure to read the Basic Time Management Principles. Use the information you learn about your time to evaluate which time management techniques (from Step 1 and Step 2) will work for you. Submit a 1 page or less typed electronic word document into the Blackboard assignment called My Time Management Strategy describing your strategies (at least three) for managing your time as a college student and why you think your strategies will work for you. Bring your worksheets from Step Two. We will discuss strategies that were tried, what worked and what did not and why. The class will compile the best strategies and resources for time management. I will assign each individual information to post on the class wiki tool. I will explain more about this in class. The class will present the information to the Director of University College and the Dean of Academic Outreach for use of this information as a resource for other students to access online for the UCA Academic Outreach website. Your names will be credited as the site contributors of this information. Copyright 2010, Jeannine Hamilton.
