RULES AND STANDARDS La Salle Envigado short film awards. Lights, Camera, La Salle. 1. OBJECTIVE AND DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY. La Salle Envigado invites to the First Short Film Contest for Sislenguas schools, as a tool for the development of audiovisual content in ninth, tenth and eleventh grades. 2. PARTICIPANTS. Any student from sixth to eleventh grade from the invited schools in Medellín may participate previous authorization from their institutions. It can be submitted individually or as a team – one project per registration. There must be a responsible person per group. 3. SCHEDULE. Procedure Registration Film submission

4. REGISTRATION AND DOCUMENTATION.
The
registration
should
be
made
in
the
following
edwin.moreno@salleenvigado.edu.co along with the required information: a. REGISTRATION FORM (Attachment 1) b. Consent form for the use and processing minor’s personal data (Attachment 2) c. An explicit authorization of the institution or school to which they belong, allowing the participation of the minor in this contest of short films and animation. d. SHORT FILM. Title, category, number of participants, length, brief description. The projects must be original, must have a title and be focused on promoting the use of the English language, emphasizing its cultural, social, linguistic values and the relationship of bilingualism as a city project. (See the technical characteristics on point 7) 5. SUBJECT. The subject will be different each year. 2021 subject is: Are we reality or are we fiction? Here some guiding questions: Are we real? What is reality? Are we the result of fate? What does the future hold? Are we the selfies we upload or the ones we erased? 6. CATEGORIES.
Documentaries: The documentary is defined as the representation and interpretation of reality from the point of view of the documentarian who express themselves in the organization and structure of images and sounds. Its length cannot exceed 10 minutes.
Fiction: Fiction short films try to simulate reality by adding a touch of fantasy when it comes to turning a common fact into something unexpected, such as, for example, falling in love with someone at first sight, getting married the next day and living happily ever after. Its maximum length is 5 minutes.
Animation: Technology dominates this type of short film in which the movements of inanimate figures (objects or imaginary beings) are turned into images in sequences where the protagonists get involved with common attitudes and skills. Its maximum duration is 5 minutes.
7. TECHNICAL CONDITIONS. • The resolution of the short film should be at least 1280x720 up to 1920 x 1080 pixels, in .MP4 or .MOV, AVI format. The aspect ratio may be 4:3 or 16:9. The school reserves the right to display short films that do not meet the minimum quality recommended in this section. • It will be obligatory to present a copy of the short film, using as the file name the title of the work, being exactly the same that appears in the registration form. It must be delivered in a USB pen drive or uploaded to a YouTube channel. • The documentary short film cannot be longer than 8 minutes. Fiction and animation short films may not last 5 minutes. • It is recommended to use a tripod when filming some shots. • The spoken sound of the short film will be in English, and may have subtitles only in the same language. • The music must be copyright free, or be original in order to publish the short film on the different digital platforms available.
• The elements used in the execution of the project, which may create costs derived from the copyright, will be responsibility of the contestants. • Each short film must be registered in the name of the person or team that appears in the titles of the short film, and whose author(s) will be included in the registration form, these people will be the beneficiaries of the prize awarded in case of winning. • La Salle Envigado School reserves the right to disqualify projects that are contrary to the constitutional rights of citizens. 8. JURY AND JUDGEMENT CRITERIA. La Salle Envigado School will appoint the members of the Jury, which will be composed of people who are knowledgeable and related to the audiovisual area. They will be detailed on the web www.salleenvigado.edu.co. The judgment of the qualifying jury will be unappealable. The Jury reserves the right to solve any doubt or problem that may arise with respect to this basis. The Jury has the right to disqualify any participant who fails to comply with any of the conditions presented in these rules. The criteria that will be evaluated when selecting the pre-selected projects will be the following: 9. CRITERIA AND INDICATORS. Creativity The concept raised with original and innovative resources that reflect autonomy and personal hallmark. As well as, the relationship with the subject of the contest, either specifically or indirectly.
Composition The elements that are present in the project, their harmony or contrast according to the message that you want to express. The development of the idea at the assembly and photography level. Technique The editing and recording technique chosen must adequately contribute to capturing the message, highlighting its expressive and communicative value, providing a clear interpretation of the subject. The applied innovations of the cinematographic language. Presentation The demonstration of the commitment and the fulfillment of the technical conditions will be valued positively. This is the artistic and aesthetic quality of the work. Script The story in the short is told in an innovative and authentic way. There is coherence and strength in the characters’ speech.
10. LEGAL FRAMEWORK AND EXHIBITION OF SELECTED PROJECTS.
• The school may disqualify those short films that do not meet the basic requirements of the contest, notifying the participants that their piece has been disqualified for the relevant reasons. • The school reserves the right to modify the rules, as long as said changes do not affect the spirit of the contest. • The school reserves the right of the advertising use of the projects presented to promote future editions. • The school is not responsible for damage to people, public or private buildings that may be caused by the participants. The subsidiary civil liability will fall on the participants responsible for said acts. • Projects that perpetuate harmful stereotypes that tarnish the name of the city, gender violence, racism and child abuse are not allowed. • The institution anticipates that the filmmakers of the submitted projects have the rights to the short presented, and assumes no responsibility derived from this end. • The finalist projects can be viewed on the website www.salleenvigado.edu.co or other channels of the institution. The participants of the contest grant the rights of exhibition of the submitted projects, without need of any notice or compensation for the granting of such right. For this, they will sign a document authorizing the inclusion of the short on the web www.salleenvigado.edu.co. • There will be a preselection of finalists that will be carried out by the members of the Jury, from which the winners will be chosen: 1, 2 and 3 prize of each category.
• The author or authors of the selected project as the winner, will be informed of the date on which their short film will be screened and will be invited to the screening of the same. • In case there is only one participant in one of the categories, they will be notified that there is no competition and a mention of participation will be given. • The registration and delivery of the projects in the contest supposes the acceptance of the rules. • The winners of this contest, once the jury's decision is known, must sign the cession of Intellectual Property rights, authorizing La Salle Envigado school of the publication, reproduction or distribution of the short film made. Said authorization will be an indispensable requisite for receiving the prize.
