Young needs set our standard Wherever there’s a livestock farm, there’s a farmer who knows that young animals have special nutritional needs. The importance of using feed made for immature digestive systems and healthy, efficient growth is universally understood. At HAMLET PROTEIN, we specialize in meeting this requirement. As the world’s growing population steps up demand for high-yield, cost-effective farming that can secure safe and sufficient food supplies, our contribution is to optimize the protein content of young animal feed. Feeding trials with our specialty proteins have documented lifelong benefits for animal welfare, growth and performance. If you’re a farmer, it’s benefits like these that can help you stay on top of the global competition.

We draw on our knowhow and experience to calibrate and improve our products continuously. New functionalities developed by our application experts keep our products aligned with your performance goals and legislative obligations. The nutritional needs of young animals set the standard for our entire portfolio – a focus that is helping to elevate international best practice in young animal feed. At the same time, it has enabled us to expand into other business areas where high quality is a pre-condition.

Launch of a protein benchmark Our flagship product HP 300 was the first of its kind on the market in 1993. Little did we know then that it would become Poultry recognized as a new business category in specialty proteins for piglet weaning feed. Piglets

Today, HP 300 is a benchmark supplement in the piglet feed market – and, for many of our customers, synonymous with HAMLET PROTEIN. It remains a key starting point for our product innovation, which now targets:

Benefits that add up to good farm business Healthy growth is more than animal welfare. It’s also about performance, efficiency and a profitable business. As international markets become increasingly competitive and professional, the focus on feed optimization is rising. At HAMLET PROTEIN, we recognize this in the growing interest for our products. A key benefit of our proteins is their consis tent quality. Regardless of the time of year or the production site we deliver from, you can always count on the same functional performance, nutritional content and high feed safety standards.

This has given us a high market share within the specialty soy protein niche. According to our calculations, for example, some 120 million piglets across the world are fed our products every year – a number that will grow as our production capacity expands. Our strong market position is the reason why you can count on HAMLET PROTEIN as your long-term partner. We are here to stay.

The most important week in a chick’s life Right after hatching, chicks rely on their yolk sac while they learn to scratch for food. When their starter feed contains 5% HP AviStart, they can digest essential nutrients from day one. That way the yolk sac can be used to develop their immune system – making them stronger and healthier. University and farm trials have shown that seven days of feed supplementation with HP AviStart optimizes the chicks’ genetic potential for growth over their lifetime.

Our building blocks for healthy growth How do we pack HAMLET PROTEIN products with so much nutrition? Using a combination of soy and our special technology. In its native form, soy protein is hard for young animals to digest due to the presence of anti-nutritional factors, which limit nutrient bioavailability. To overcome the issue, we developed a customized bio-conversion process that gently minimizes anti-nutritional factors while keeping the naturally high protein content and amino acid profile intact. It is during this process that our products gain their powerful water-holding ability and appealing, palatable taste. From a nutritional perspective, improved water holding is a

particular advantage as the stabilization of water in the stomach slows the digestive process, allowing time for more nutrients to be absorbed from the feed. A knock-on benefit for the environment is that the nutrient content of animal manure is correspondingly reduced. International feeding trials document the efficiency of our products. The results show that our proteins perform better than other soy protein products and at least as well as the best sources of animal protein – giving farmers the optimum return on investment.

Eco-friendly from the start For our process development team, minimizing the environmental impact of our production was a top priority right from our first product launch. They designed a process that consumes a minimum of water and energy and where volatile organic compounds (VOC) were the only waste. Before long, the VOC were taken into use for heat generation. So, today, steam is the sole emission from our plants in Denmark and the USA. Even the most eco-friendly process can be improved. Every year, we reduce our environmental footprint further. At both our plants, we follow the principles of the ISO 50001:2011 energy management system.

Quality aimed at the youngest in the barn One critical concern for the farmer is that feed is not a source of contaminants. To support quality assurance on the farm, our first step at HAMLET PROTEIN is to ensure our 100% vege table proteins are made only from soy that meets our own discriminating specifications. Within our processing plants, we do much more. To minimize the risk of external contaminants, all processing takes place in closed, stainless steel systems. Heat treatment secures the high microbiological quality of our pro ducts, eliminating bacterial and fungal spores at no expense to valuable nutrients.

In addition to our own safety tests, we call upon external accredited firms to conduct microbiology analyses. All in all, our products are subject to some 10,000 analyses a year. Our commitment to biosecurity and quality control should never be in doubt. As a customer, you need to have full confidence in our ability to strengthen your reputation and your bottom line. We work hard to maintain that trust.

Made to meet food safety standards Our focus on the youngest, most vulnerable farm animals has equipped us to meet the most stringent quality demands for animal feed. In fact, our plant in Denmark has been certified according to the ISO 22000 food safety management standard since 2002. Both our plants in Denmark and the USA satisfy the criteria of ISO 22000 and GMP+.
